The technology giant, IBM, has established an important partnership with the government authorities of Riyahd, in Saudi Arabia, for the purpose of promoting blockchain solutions to facilitate transactions involving government services. This partnership will include the Saudi Arabian technology company, Eim Company. This will be the first IBM platform at a municipal level.

According to authorities, these implementations are part of the “Saudi Vision 2030“, designed by Prince Mohammad bin Salman, with the goal of bringing greater progress and improvements to the economic model of the country, as well as make the private sector the engine that drives financial growth.

Secretary of State Dr. Abdulharman Al Jadhai, indicated that,

“Elm always applies its experience, innovative advances, national talents and global associations in favor of systematic digital development that guarantees greater efficiency, in parallel with the “National Transformation Program 2020 of the United Kingdom. The experience of Elm will contribute to enrich the customer experience, to build the best solutions for the public and private sectors and to contribute to the transformation towards a digital government model, according to the “Saudi Vision 2030″ project.”

Similarly, the IBM manager in Saudi Arabia, Tarek Zarg El Aioun, added,

“Blockchain is a revolutionary tool that  helps to do business and IBM is at the forefront with all the advances in the digital market. We believe that this technology has the ability to change the world in the same way that the Internet did, while redefining the way business is done and transactions are carried out.”

This is not the first time that the country has attempted to implement in the new technology. In February, the Monetary Authority of Saudi Arabia, established an association with the Ripple company, to provide payment services with Rippel in local banking entities.
