Bitcobie Launches Online Course for Beginners in Bitcoin

The online course will have a significant discount due to the contingencies generated by the Covid-19 worldwide emergence.

Bitcobie, the renowned online crypto-education platform, recently announced that it launched a new course for those interested in cryptocurrencies in Spain. This new educational program will allow beginners in cryptocurrency technology to learn about the basic principles of Bitcoin (BTC).

According to the web educational center, the course is aimed at people who have little knowledge in the area of blockchain technology. Besides, the course will prepare people to acquire the necessary tools to make use of this technology in their daily financial activities. Participants will also know how to save money in BTC.

During an interview with a local media, Álvaro Cobarro, CEO of Bitcobie, indicated that this course will help beginners to understand how this technology works, as well as its value and its different levels of security. In this way, they will understand the importance of knowing all the stages of the process.

“The course is aimed at those who do not know what blockchain technology and Bitcoin are about. It is also aimed at those who have already bought their first fractions of BTC but want to understand things like the importance, where the value of Bitcoin comes from, and how can it be used with a certain level of security”, the executive said.

On the other hand, Juan Pablo Mejía, the creator of the study material for this course, added that it does not matter what the participants do or where they work. This study program is aimed at anyone who wants to receive training on the use of digital money.

“No matter your level of knowledge or previous experience. This course on Bitcoin is for beginners and people with an intermediate knowledge in the area, who want to be ready for the future of money”, Mejía commented.

Cobarro and Mejía added that the educational institution Bitcobie had been preparing the course for some time. However, they decided to promote the course right now since most of the people stay at home. This is because of the social quarantine measures that Spain and other countries implement due to the Covid-19 lung disease.

In addition to promoting this course, which anyone can take at home, Cobarro added that they decided to offer this course with a considerable discount. This is an initiative that will help people to take advantage of their free time. In this way, participants will also learn more about Bitcoin and blockchain technology without spending a lot of money.

“We wanted to launch this course at a great discount because taking advantage of quarantine hours seems to us the best possible plan to expand knowledge”, the developers explained.

Miners to Receive Prize in Cryptocurrencies for Fighting Against Coronavirus

Miners could offer computing capacity through their devices. This is a project supported by Stanford University.

Cure Coin and Banano, two initiatives dedicated to providing computer support for cryptocurrency mining, announced that they will provide a reward system for miners during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this way, crypto miners making efforts to fight against the coronavirus outbreak will receive a prize in cryptocurrencies.

As representatives of both projects said, digital miners will be able to join the fight against the disease using their CPU and GPU devices. By dedicating its activities to these efforts, the system will grant a reward in cryptocurrencies.

According to the official announcement, Banano and Cure Coin reached an alliance with Folding @ Home, which enabled a system that would help find the vaccine against the virus. Miners will be able to offer computing capacity through their devices, which will serve as a direct donation to help the project.

Folding @ Home works using computing power to calculate scientific results. In this case, the project focuses on providing procedural capacity for the Folding @ Home distributed network to help researchers find a cure for Covid-19.

This is a project supported by Stanford University. According to local media, the computer system will focus solely on developing results that is something that would benefit researchers to combat the pandemic.

Specifically, the system will use computing power to recreate the movement of the virus’s proteins. To a large extent, the system could offer vital information to scientists.

When the Folding @ Home initiative was announced, hundreds of miners decided to make their mining machines and video cards available to the project. This managed to accumulate miners from different platforms such as Bitcoiners, Ethereum, and Tezos. According to spokespersons for the project, the reward may lighten the electrical maintenance of the machines.

Sustainable Donation Against Coronavirus

Users who want to lend the computing capabilities of their devices can do so anonymously and at no cost. This is possible through the web pages of both projects.

There, the crypto miner can create a user and register his/her team. In this way, this information will help the system determine the computing capacity that the miner generates and reward him for it.

After registration, the participant must download and install software that will help them to enter the Folding @ Home network. Once inside, the miner can collaborate individually, or through a group.

By selecting the second option, the participant will have the team name and their user ID on the platform. Using this option, the participant will be able to receive a bonus for the computing capacity the team granted.

As for how the reward is received, the developers of the project point out that they must wait a few hours or even a day for the miner to receive the cryptocurrencies. Besides, the participant must place all the information requested on the page, since otherwise, they will not be able to join the initiative.

Representatives of Folding @ Home indicated that the level of cryptocurrencies that crypto miners will receive will be low since it is a donation and it will only pretend to pay for some maintenance costs of the borrowed equipment.

Until now, the Banana Miner website registers 343 miners, who have lent their computer equipment to fight against the coronavirus outbreak.

Canada Seeks to Improve its Tools to Monitor Cryptocurrencies

This amendment would help improve regularizations and controls regarding the fight against money laundering in Canada.

The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) is preparing a special plan to regulate the use of cryptocurrencies in that country. This would be a previous phase to modify and implement new actions to monitor how people are using these crypto assets.

This happens when the time set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to adapt crypto-regulatory bodies is about to expire. For this reason, the country is now working on new laws and tools to achieve the goal.

As the first step, FINTRAC will increase controls regarding crypto. It will monitor startup companies that target this market. Then, it will also monitor all transactions made with cryptocurrencies and other related operations. Some press reports detailed that these modifications will come into effect from June of this year.

The agency highlights that this will be a reform to broaden the scope of action of the Canadian authorities, something that they consider a priority. The company added that these modifications come directly from the state legislature.

“One of the main priorities in the short term will be the application of the new regulations that come from the recent legislative changes”, FINTRAC explains.

Control All the Crypto-Operations

This reform of the law will grant FINTRAC the power to control all actions conducted with cryptocurrencies in Canada. This includes the transfer of funds from abroad to people in Canada and vice versa. Besides, this law will optimize government controls to combat money laundering, electronic crime, and terrorist financing.

After the implementation of this new reform, all companies that handle an approximate of 10,000 Canadian dollars (USD 7,000) in cryptocurrencies will have to register their operations with FINTRAC.  This is what the developers of the project explained to local media.

In this way, the companies must agree to strict controls that FINTRAC will impose on those movements executed with digital currencies. This would be for the authorities a form to prevent money laundering.

The law will also require the companies to record all movements with cryptocurrencies that exceed 1,000 Canadian dollars (700 USD). Therefore, these companies must have a history of movements, as well as the personal data of those who make the crypto-transaction.

Other Control Measures

Some sources linked to the project detailed that the data required for the registration of the person who executes the transactions range from the year of birth to the room address, and telephone numbers.

It is important to highlight that the regulatory body may require more documentation if it is an amount greater than Canadian dollars 10,000 (USD 7,000). This would be necessary to validate the operations.

Those who do not meet these requirements or the necessary documentation could commit “minor” infractions, according to what a part of the amendment explains.

These legislative reforms are the product of an extensive evaluation that the FATF started some years ago. The agency’s evaluation concluded that Canadian laws were weak in money laundering, terrorist financing, and electronic crimes that may be related to cryptocurrencies.

Taking into consideration the FATF’s suggestions, the entity in charge of monitoring these FINTRAC operations highlighted that they now have good “expectations” regarding these technologies. “The overall legislative and policy framework must serve Canada’s interest while remaining in harmony with international expectations”.

According to other reports, some countries are also working hard on the legal framework that helps regulate and control the use of cryptocurrencies. To achieve this goal, they are taking into account FATF’s suggestions and the deadline imposed by the agency.

Crypto Ecosystem Teaches How to Overcome the Pandemic

An individual, under the pseudonym Nakamoto, sent a message to the world that led to change everything. Cryptocurrency miners have battled the virus by sharing their computing power.

The crypto ecosystem was struggling to sustain itself, amid a pandemic that was advancing with new cases of a terrible contagion. It was the deadliest virus in history and had already consumed half the world’s population.

Cremation was the norm everywhere as the number of dead bodies overwhelmed the ability of cemeteries, funeral homes, and coffin makers. The ban on public gatherings, including funerals and wakes, compounded the grief of those unable to properly mourn the death of their loved ones.

Epidemiologist Alecia Weis, who led a small scientific community working on a vaccine against the virus, sent a hopeful message to the world. “We believe that we have found the cure, but we must move forward with our research and tests,” she said.

The Organization of Nations had funded Weis’s team, but the scientists succumbed to the pressure of the organization. They had to transfer the research credits, progress, and mass-distribution rights to the organization to benefit only its member countries.

In her message, Weis had included documents showing that the reason for the accelerated spread of the virus. Instead of alerting to the danger that humanity was facing, the Organization of Nations preferred to remain silent.

The epidemiologist proved that the world’s governments had chosen to protect the production of their nations, and not expose it, despite the risk. They knew that any necessary measures would make an impact on world production and, therefore, wreak havoc on the economy.

People reacted to Weis’s announcements aggressively and immediately and wanted to share their opinions on social networks. Governments responded with more silence as she had exposed them to the world.

More people died every day and governments began to emerge from their lethargy, but the population was too stunned by so much adversity. There were public pronouncements by government authorities, but no one wanted to hear them.

Citizens took further refuge in their homes, leaving the streets empty, while authorities had no one to govern. To make matters worse, the economies collapsed and nothing seemed to make sense anymore.

An individual, under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, released a new message, which the world heard. That person had created a Bitcoin fund for Dr. Alecia Weis, with a deposit of 50% of the amount that her team required to advance with the tests to find the cure against the pandemic.

The World Changed

Cryptocurrency miners lent their computing power to help the scientific team fight the virus. They needed a large number of computers connected to their server to process the simulations and calculate possible results.

It was not long when Dr. Weis announced that they had successfully tested the vaccine and mass-produced it. At that moment, they sentenced the pandemic to death.

The adoption of Bitcoin progressed by leaps and bounds and became an unstoppable force. Central banks realized that they had to get on board that trains if they did not want to disappear, so they announced their transformation process.

Large banking institutions died and neobanks emerged, giving way to a generation of strengthened dApps to support new businesses. Asset managers were born to families that needed the drive to overcome the crisis.

Until then, the world population that had survived the pandemic stayed in quarantine, as the distribution of the vaccine progressed.

Everyone, forced into social distancing due to the pandemic, wanted to know every detail about the crypto ecosystem. Families devoured YouTube videos, tutorials, interviews, and more, along with all educational content related to the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

The virus left a lot of pain as it passed throughout the world, but it prompted a necessary change. A world that used to criticize the crypto ecosystem before the pandemic found an ally to build a better-decentralized planet.

HIVE Owners to Activate Trade after Steem’s Hard Fork

After the hard fork, only two trading platforms had included HIVE on their list. Now, the microblogging platform Hive competes with Steemit.

After weeks of confrontations between the Steem community and TRON CEO Justin Sun, the hard fork Hive was a success. The first version of the Hive protocol is a copy of the existing Steem blockchain, but it includes a few minor changes to increase the decentralization of the network.

In this way, the Hive microblogging platform also came to life to create content, build communities with specific interests and encourage social interaction. Among the posts that soon appeared, Vitalik Buterin shared dialogue about the hard fork and the exclusion of certain accounts during the launch of the new asset.

Last March 20th, the nodes or witnesses that supported the hard fork, proposed by the Steem Community, upgraded their software. In this way, they marked their separation from Steemit Inc., whose owner is Justin Sun.

At that time, all the users who supported the decentralization automatically had an access account to the Hive platform. Meanwhile, the accounts that supported Sun’s actions in early March continued to exist on the Steem network but did not receive information about the launch.

The community also ensured to create what they called the “Decentralized Hive Fund” (DHF), a resource pool, replacing the “ninja mining stake.” That cryptocurrency fund was the reason for the dispute between the Steem community and the TRON Foundation.

Where is Hive?

After the hard fork, some users have focused on generating content for their blogs, where many analyze the future or the historical moment that they are experiencing. However, others claimed their respective tokens, taking into account that every STEEM owner must receive HIVE in proportion to his or her balance in STEEM.

The mood has been changing after some users saw that Binance’s post supporting the hard fork and the launch of HIVE was no longer visible. Several of them made their complaints to CZ, the CEO of the exchange, who replied that Binance had never announced anything that it would not comply with.

However, virtually no exchange has listed HIVE, according to data from CoinGecko. However, Ionomy shows that some exchanges have included it, which indicates that it is just a matter of time. At the time of writing this article, Bittrex also featured on Bittrex.

A note published before the hard fork had shown the list of the exchanges that are studying the possibility of including HIVE on their platforms. Among them are Bittrex, Huobi, Binance, Probit, BlockTrades, BitThumb, GOPAX, UpBit and WazirX.

What is left of Steem?

Justin Sun’s measures continue to raise controversy in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. To many, Sun’s dispute with the Steem community represented a complete loss of value for the platform, and even for Steemit.

It is not just the value of STEEM but also value in the form of intellectual property, branding and experienced blockchain and front-end developers. All Steem developers have stopped cooperating, right after taking over the platform.

In this respect, Vitalik Buterin recently said that this seems like a potential positive moment in the history of blockchain governance. If the hard fork Hive exceeds Steem, it would demonstrate that the community is in charge and cannot be bought.

Until now, Sun has not made an official statement regarding the hard fork or about the steps that it will take with Steem in the future. However, there is a wave of comments from Steemit users who are denouncing censorship within Steemit.

After Fed’s Announcements, Bitcoin Rebounds by 10% within One Hour

The price of the main cryptocurrency went from USD 5,866 to USD 6,464 between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. The US central bank will not have limits in the purchase of assets to compensate for the economy.

The US Federal Reserve (Fed) announced on March 23rd new measures to stabilize the economy of the country, in the face of the expansion of the coronavirus and the Covid-19 disease that it causes. The central bank stated that it will not have limits for the purchase of assets to reduce the impact of the pandemic, which could have influenced the rebound that Bitcoin exhibited in the markets.

That day, the price of the main cryptocurrency went from USD 5,866 to USD 6,464 between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., according to data from LiveCoinWatch. Las March 15th, the Fed had announced that it would inject USD 700 billion to purchase securities (bonds) backed by both the Treasury and mortgages. Besides, it raised interest rates by up to 0.25%.

The announcement that the Fed made last March 23rd has led the US central bank to increase the levels of support to contain a possible economic recession.

Before the markets opened that day, the Fed highlighted that the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) will purchase the required amounts of Treasury securities and other agency-backed securities. Their objective is to support the good performance of the market and the effective transmission of monetary policies to the amplest financial conditions of the economy.

The decision gave rise to an immediate reaction by cryptocurrency markets as Bitcoin increased by 10.2% within only one hour. At the moment of writing this article, the price of Bitcoin was USD 6,313 per unit. Regarding the rest of the cryptocurrencies, their growth has been moderate, with Ether (ETH) at the top with 2.9% (USD 130.47), Ripple (XRP) gaining 1.69% (0.156369) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) increasing by about 4,15% (equivalent to about USD 216.74).

Regarding the volatility in the last few weeks, specialists note that people tend to respond to situations of crisis by disposing of those assets that they consider the riskiest, which include cryptocurrencies. However, despite the current situation, Bitcoin has shown signs of recovery after its drop to USD 4,184 last March 12th.

The economic panorama is not complicated only in the USA but also on a global scale, especially in Europe, Asia and Latin America, where people are feeling the negative effects of the partial paralysis of the economy. In addition to that, it is important to mention the constant depreciation in the value of the national fiat currencies of countries like Mexico, Colombia, and Chile, among others.

All this has occurred less than two months before the upcoming Bitcoin halving, a reduction in the issuance of the cryptocurrency by half, scheduled to occur next May 13th. This event could theoretically leverage the pricing of the main cryptocurrency in the market, which would eventually lead it back its all-time highs like it has been able to do on several occasions.
