A Lightning Networks node is in danger and would get seized by Russia. If the Russians take over the node, the users could lose their funds.

The beginning of the war in Russia and Ukraine molded a whole scenario filled with concerns and danger of such varied nature that it reaches the lands of the cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin. And it is that even a cryptocurrency wallet asked its users to remove their funds from there because they could get confiscated by the Russian army.

Simple Bitcoin Wallet (SBW) from its Twitter account suggested users take money out of the default SBW channel because it is not safe to keep anything there, given the current situation. Simple Bitcoin wallet gets fed by a Lightning Network node which has its host in Ukraine, a nation currently under Russian siege.

Wallet followers appeared in the post thanking the team for the vital information they gave them with various comments filled with joy, gratitude, and support because of the struggles they are currently facing regarding the invasion.

Simple Bitcoin Wallet is an open-source non-custodial standalone wallet that assists the Lightning Network and carries out its activities on Android mobile devices. This wallet brings balance and sustains it in its custodian node for users to carry out transactions from that point.

If the node gets attacked, compromised, or affected y any possible way, the funds of all its SBW users could lose their protection. Therefore, the suggestion is that SBW users migrate their funds to other wallets and not enter the custodian node brought by the company.

Bitcoin in a Country like Ukraine

In the Twitter thread revealed by the Simple Bitcoin Wallet account about the alert and the withdrawal of funds from its wallet, the company released a link so that those interested in helping Ukraine can enter their donations. These donations can happen through the SaveLife website through transfers in bitcoin, US dollars, or euros.

Before the fire attack of Russia in Ukraine, many users started spreading the SaveLife link and that of other websites, such as Tallycoin, to gather funds through donations.

Likewise, other prominent people from the crypto environment also got involved in the clash, calling for Russia and Ukraine to reach a peaceful end. One of these voices was Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, who used his Twitter account as a platform to express to his millions of followers that he would not remain silent regarding the conflict and showed his rejection of the Russian attack in Ukraine.

Vitalik also mentioned that Ethereum is a neutral currency since it is a decentralized network that does not deal with controls from specific agencies or governments. Users carry out their transactions without any network operating as an intermediary ruled by the state or third parties, as with some other exchanges.

This position could give Ukrainians the opportunity to house their currencies in bitcoin or ether and carry out transactions anonymously and without control.
