Northzone, a London-based venture capital fund, recently raised around USD 1 billion. With that big move, it seeks to create a fund focused on crypto and FinTech startups.

Wendy Xiao Schadeck, the partner of Northzone, said that the fund views the crypto industry as a crucial sector. In addition, she pointed out that they believe the next generations of founders would invest in new businesses.

Fidelity Investments Considers Allowing Individual Investors to Trade Bitcoin

American stockbroker Fidelity Investments is considering allowing individual investors to trade Bitcoin. Although it has not officially announced it, it plans to do just that with more than 34.3 million brokerage accounts.

Mike Novogratz, the CEO of Galaxy Digital, has hinted that Fidelity could become his client in the short term. The executive said he had heard that Fidelity Investments would move its retail clients to cryptocurrencies.

JPMorgan Helps Raise Funds for Startup Ownera

JPMorgan recently participated in a USD 20 million funding round for startup Ownera. That open-source protocol that supports the tokenization of securities on public or private blockchains plans to connect crypto platforms and traditional financial companies.

In 2021, JPMorgan was among the leading US banks to offer cryptocurrency trading first. The company raised approximately USD 45 million to provide the service through two different funds.

Securitize Offers Tokenized Exposure to KKR Global Investment Fund

San Francisco-based digital asset securities firm securitize has offered tokenized exposure to global investment fund Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. The digital asset security platform leverages the blockchain to raise capital and issue tokenized assets, among other operations.

Dan Parant, managing director of KKR and co-head of US Private Wealth, explains that the global fund seeks to test blockchain. He believes that this technology can play a crucial role in the future of private markets.

Institutional Investors Also Finance Web3 Projects

However, trading platforms and digital asset services are not the only ones receiving funding. The most recent DappRadar report notes that Metaverse and Web3 gaming projects have raised USD 748 million in investment.

DappRadar highlighted that various leading investment entities remain optimistic about the video game industry. The amount of money invested has been significant despite the uncertain conditions in the crypto asset markets.

Cryptocurrencies play an increasingly relevant role in the world economy, which institutional investors do not overlook. The above companies are examples of the many that have helped finance the crypto asset industry.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is trading at around USD 20,093 and has accumulated a 4.2% gain over the past week. While its daily trading volume is above USD 38.54 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 384.80 billion, according to CoinGecko.
