Developers Create NFTs that Help Preserve Amazon Rainforest Biodiversity

Brazilian project wants to preserve the Amazon through NFTs and already has the player Hulk’s support.

It is not easy to protect the Amazon rainforest. There are many interests of various kinds, from those looking for areas to cultivate to pharmaceutical companies looking for new solutions, including lumber companies, there are many predators for a few preys.

A Brazilian project called Amazon League Club, promises to save this planet through NFTs that correspond to real conservation sites within the 6 Brazilian biomes that are found in the Amazon rainforest, the largest tropical forest in the world and that covers, in addition to Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Guyana, French Guiana, Suriname, Venezuela, and Bolivia.

The project is the brainchild of entrepreneurs Bruno Souza, Mano Mendes, Kaleb Melo, and Clynson Silva de Oliveira. Together, they decided to create a league where anyone can become a hero and leave a legacy in preserving the environment.

“The true justice league is a green justice league, which opposes the exploitation of natural media and the enrichment dynamics created by those who try to control the narrative for their own good,” says Kaleb Melo, CVO of the project.

What Amazon League Club is all about

The project is a collection of NFT cards that become private land preservation areas, and in this first series, they belong to the Atlantic Forest and Brazilian Amazon biomes. For each NFT sold, a private area of 10m² is preserved in regions such as the Amazon and Pipa Beach, located in Rio Grande do Norte.

Next to them is Hulk, famous Atlético Mineiro player. The Brazilian ace leads a “league of heroes” and debuts the first Amazon League Club collection.

“The Brazilian people already know the importance of preservation. Within my life experience, I fought a lot together with other comrades and I know that these people will finally be recognized in their fight with the help of this great hero, the Hulk,” Melo added.

Initially, Collection Hulk preserves 1,000,000m² of land, in addition to providing exclusive privileges such as airdrops, travel raffles, and access to the community, and to the hero of the collection, in addition to containing images made by the world-renowned Paraiba photographer, Toddy Holanda.

The complete collection will be presented on July 18 in Miami, with the illustrious presence of a lucky one who will come out of the green list, which will be formed from the project’s discord group. The first collection, called Collection Hulk and Collection Hulk Exclusive, has 3,077 pieces that are already on sale at OpenSea.

Other Initiatives

For decades, some way to protect the Amazon Rainforest has been sought, and in addition to the Amazon League, a Brazilian company that owns 410 square kilometers of forest presented itself last March: Nemus.

Since March this year, Nemus has started selling NFTs, giving buyers a unique sponsorship of forest tracts of different sizes. They promise that the profits will go to preserve trees, regenerate logged areas and promote sustainable development.

Those who buy the NFT will not own the land, but they will have data on its conservation, from satellite images to licenses and more.

FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried Denied Robinhood Acquisition Rumors

The cryptocurrency exchange is not acquiring Robinhood, but it could contribute to its purchase in the future.

Contrary to some reports, cryptocurrency exchange FTX has zero intentions to purchase the popular brokerage network Robinhood, although they may contribute to its acquisition in the future.

Bloomberg news agency highlighted on Monday that FTX management was internally debating intentions to purchase the trading platform. Sources familiar with the matter told that media outlet that although the exchange had not agreed on meetings with Robinhood, they were seriously thinking about the possibility.

FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried later addressed the rumors and denied that the exchange was considering a takeover offer. In an email sent to Reuters, Fried expressed that there are no active M&A discussions with Robinhood.

FTX and Robinhood Could Work Together

According to Reuters, Robinhood counts on a dual-class shareholder structure that gives its founders power over 64% of the outstanding voting shares. This situation makes a potential purchase case impossible without the said approval.

Reports of the alleged takeover arrived right after Sam Bankman-Fried disclosed a 7.6% stake in Robinhood last month. According to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the shares had a value of $648 million, and its acquisition took effect at $11.52.

At the time, the CEO of FTX expressed that he considered the platform an attractive investment, but he had no intention of becoming an obstacle for the company. He had also shared some hints on the possibility of contributing to the network.

Shares of Robinhood (HOOD) climbed more than 20% on the May news, a move that happened again this week before the takeover reports. On Monday, HOOD prices reached high peaks of more than 16% after the Bloomberg release, slightly caressing $9.16. However, the most recent statements from the FTX CEO seemed to reverse the trend.

Expansion Strategies

The news arrived amid a downtrend in Robinhood’s business, which has experienced a trading volume decline since 2021 when retail investors conglomerated in the network to pump funds into so-called meme stocks amid the frenzy over GameStop and AMC Entertainment.

That slowdown, adhered to the broader bearish trend seen in high-growth tech stocks and the comprehensive stock market, has led to a nearly 50% crash in Robinhood shares this year, as Reuters reports. The entity counted on a market valuation of at least $7 billion at Friday’s closing price.

According to this situation, Robinhood focused on its digital asset services, where it has observed an increase in revenue. After four years of exploring the crypto environment, the network is now trying to expand its tentacles in this sector. Among the developments, Robinhood is working on a multi-functional wallet for digital assets.

Meanwhile, FTX also intends to set an expansion in the stock trading field. The US arm of FTX revealed in May that it would release a stock trading network by the end of the summer. The firm acquired partner Embedded Financial Technologies last week, which would include custody, execution, and other curious features to its brand new network.

Massachusetts Administration Alerted about Crypto Scams Aimed at the LGBTQIA+ Community

0

According to the Massachusetts government, crypto fraudsters may be exploiting Pride Month to aim at the LGBTQIA+ community,

Fraudsters and cybercriminals are increasingly seeking new methods to target victims, following a host of traps, which vary as they get unveiled. Many nations in Latin America and Europe have already been part of a campaign to warn about fake digital assets.

Now, the government of Massachusetts, United States of America, has warned about the prevalence of digital assets scams aimed at the LGBTQIA+ community. These scams would focus on social networks, dating applications, and other places used by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queers, intersex, asexual, and others.

According to the administration of that North American area, scammers may be using Pride Month to focus their malicious activities on this community. According to this situation, he highlighted a previous warning from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). A “red flag” for such a scam would be a request for payment in digital assets.

Beware of False Friend Requests

Warning signs from the state government include being cautious about social media friend requests from new profiles or with minimal previous activity and matches on dating apps that move quickly but refuse to interact in person.

The administration also recommended not sending or transferring funds to someone the user would not know or has never met personally. Users must not share passwords or other sensitive information with anyone and must avoid clicking links or opening attachments in unsolicited emails.

Earlier this month, the Federal Trade Commission applied a study that said consumers had lost more than $1 billion in digital assets-related fraud from January 2021 through March of this year. Romance scams were among the top three fraud types, with bogus investment archetypes and corporate/government phishing scams.

How to Avoid Dealing with a Scam

Cryptocurrency transactions can’t get reversed back. If users send digital assets to a third party, they will lose the opportunity to back-pedal the operation. When users send digital assets to a blockchain address, they must be sure about the legitimacy of any involved third-party features and merchants and only send the digital assets to trusted entities.

Never Give any Entity the Remote Access to the Machine you Use

This action effectively grants the scammer full access to your machine, online financial profiles, and your whole digital life.

Users must Never give out their 2FA security codes or passwords, or they will get exposed to a malicious action against their accounts. Users must never accept outbound calls asking for data. Be aware that scammers can spoof legitimate phone numbers when doing outbound calls.

The Price of Doggy Coins and DeFi Tokens Increases by More than 10%

The support from Musk has allowed Dogecoin and Shiba Inu to deliver the best performance of the week. The DeFi-related tokens Uniswap and Avalanche are among the top of the fastest-growing cryptocurrencies in the market.

Some cryptocurrencies have taken advantage of the stabilization in the Bitcoin (BTC) price between USD 20,000 and USD 21,000. Two dog-inspired coins, Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB), have drawn attention after suffering a sharp drop. They started this week in the green with percentage gains of up to double digits.

DeFi-related tokens like Polygon (MATIC) and Uniswap (UNI) have also performed outstandingly, although this has not been the best year for them.

The value of some cryptocurrencies has increased by double-digit percentages, but Bitcoin has been an exception this week. A price around USD 20,800 indicates the cryptocurrency has recovered 2.14% of its value over the last seven days.

While there have been constant bearish and bullish predictions, the behavior of the market shows significant resistance to the price around USD 21,700.

Hovering above USD 1,000, Ether (ETH) has performed better, rallying more than 5% over the last week. That is how the two leading cryptocurrencies in the market have been behaving.

Support from Musk Helps Shiba Inu Come Back to Life

The owners of Shiba Inu are deliriously happy with Elon Musk supporting the meme coin. After dropping by more than 60% from its all-time high, the SHIB price has recovered by 39.57% over the last week.

The doggy cryptocurrency is trading at around USD 0.0000115, thus becoming the second-best performer over the past week. That happened just because of the Twitter remarks from the wealthiest man on earth.

Elon Musk has repeatedly supported the meme coins of the crypto market, especially Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. The tycoon faces a lawsuit from a private investor for allegedly manipulating the demand for those cryptocurrencies and recommending buying them.

Defending himself against those accusations, he stated he had never given investment advice and would not stop supporting those projects. He also expressed his commitment to the community of those coins, saying he would continue helping them until further notice.

The statements by Musk have benefited SHIB, whose market capitalization exceeds USD 6 billion, occupying 14th place in the cryptocurrency ranking. Concerning its market capitalization, there have been more than USD 600 million in global transactions over the last few hours.

Dogecoin Is Also among the Favored Doggie Coins

DOGE has also benefited from the statement of Musk as one of his favorite assets. The price of the meme coin has reached USD 0.077 per unit, with gains of 28% in a week.

That performance does not only place it as the fourth coin with the best gains over the past week. It also takes it out of the free fall where it had remained.

The estimated losses of Dogecoin by early June were at 93% from its all-time high. That percentage has infuriated some people and has caused many others to lose money.

The meme coin occupies 10th place in the cryptocurrency ranking as its market capitalization exceeds USD 9 billion. DOGE has reached more than USD 1 billion in transactions over the last few hours.

The Technical Analysis of the Bitcoin Price Indicates the Respite Is Still a Long Way Off

Bitcoin has recovered from its recent low of USD 17,600, but it is impossible to consider it a healthy pullback. Most on-chain indicators tracking basic network activity, miner behavior, and unrealized losses point to the proximity of the bottom.

Although the fear sentiment still predominates, calm has already returned to the crypto market. Since a Bitcoin rally is underway, the forecast indicates some more gains in the short term.

BTC is trading at around USD 20,920 and has accumulated a 2.0% gain over the last seven days. While its daily trading volume is above USD 18.51 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 399.14 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Many experts predict that Bitcoin currently has an undervalued price, which various on-chain metrics confirm.

The CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, thinks that the worst is over, adding to the vision of maximalists like Michael Saylor and Max Keiser.

Everything seems to point to the same place, but it is still impossible to confirm that the bulls have regained control.

The Bitcoin Price Could Rise by 30% in the Short Term

As expected last week, the Bitcoin bulls have defended the large support zone around USD 18,000.

The price of the pioneering cryptocurrency is now seeing a healthy and necessary pullback.

It has recovered from its recent low of USD 17,600 by around 20%; an already quite significant percentage.

However, it is still impossible to consider the recent rally a healthy pullback. Prices usually retrace as low as 38.20% Fibonacci before continuing the trend, currently in the resistance zone around USD 30,000.

There are signs that the price has already bottomed out, so the long-term trend is imminently bullish. Even though the short/medium-term direction might return to the bulls, it is early to confirm that.

What Should Happen to Confirm the Control of the Bulls?

There is not still enough buying volume to confirm a broader rally, but it could happen soon.

Bitcoin has been building an inverted Head-and-Shoulders pattern above the support zone of around USD 18,000. That scenario indicates that there has been a change in the trend.

Before confirming that, there should be a rebound in the buying volume in the coming hours. I should move the price away from the descending line marking the Head-and-Shoulders pattern.

Conservative analysts would expect the price to break resistance at USD 22,680.

The bears could take the price back toward around USD 20,000 before a significant rally develops if that does not happen soon.

On-Chain Indicators Show that Bitcoin Has an Undervalued Price

According to the weekly CryptoQuant metrics overview, most on-chain indicators show bullish signals.

All indicators tracking basic network activity, cyclical indicators, miner behavior, and unrealized losses point to an imminent bottom.

There is a reduction in miner profits as mining difficulty remains high while the price drops, a scenario usually heralding a capitulation.

The market has a significant unrealized loss, seen in the NUPL, MVRV Ratio, SOPR Ratio, and Puell Multiple metrics.

It is not the best time to accumulate, but it is at least a good one. Various analysts consider it is hard to try to stop the absolute bottom of the price.

Nexo Responds to Accusations of Stealing Donations and Siphoning Charity Funds

0

A Twitter account making a series of accusations against Nexo has caused the cryptocurrency lender to issue a cease and desist notice.

Cryptocurrency lending platform Nexo has responded to what it has called “fake news” and rumors that its founders were part of a charity embezzlement scandal; said the claims are false and defamatory. It has issued a public notice of cease and desist to the author of the accusations.

In a blog post about the claims, Nexo stated that, “Several anonymous Twitter accounts are using lies and distortions in another smear campaign against Nexo and profiting from short positions in a troubled market.”

“Otter” Twits Begin

The pseudonymous Twitter account @otteroooo, who goes by “Otter,” posted a series of tweets on June 25, alleging that the Nexo co-founders stole funds from the Bulgarian charity HelpKarma to buy real estate and finance “luxurious personal trips”:

“NEXO FOUNDER & FAMILY SIPHONED FUNDS FROM CHARITY FOR SICK KIDS, USED DONATIONS AS PERSONAL SLUSH FUND, EVEN BUILT A PALACE FOR THEMSELVES. Evidences presented in full by otter below. No bueno!”

The thread garnered a large audience on Twitter, with Otter sharing a screenshot that had received more than 9 million impressions, prompting Nexo to respond to what they say are “ridiculous accusations” and issue the cease and desist notice.

The central accusation Otter makes is that HelpKarma founder and Nexo co-founder “Konsta Kanchev” used the donation funds to help build a palace instead of using the money for children’s medical treatments:

“Konsta Kanchev (Bulgarian Boy 1) embezzled the funds and went on to build a muthaf*ckin PALACE, “the size of a high school. The money came from the donations of more than 130,000 Bulgarians who readily donated into what they thought was meant for medical treatment for children.”

Nexo and Otter Face Each other

A response from Nexo notes that “Konsta Kanchev” does not exist and that Otter deliberately created the name “to mimic a typo as an excuse” by confusing two different people, HelpKarma founder Constantine Krastev and Nexo co-founder Kosta Kantchev, as if they were the same person.

Another major accusation Otter makes is that as HelpKarma donations increased while Credissimo Company began reporting sizable increases in its capital; he cited the November 2020 report from Fakti, implying that donations were used to finance Credissimo.

On how this scandal links to Nexo, Otter points out that Nexo’s white paper says it’s “powered by Credissimo.” Credissimo was founded by Kantchev, and Nexo co-founders Georgi Shulev and Antoni Trenchev were responsible for the companies’ business development and innovation, respectively.

In response to the claims, Nexo said that it and HelpKarma “have not had, nor have they ever had, common operations, common beneficial owners, or common management,” adding:

“Why would a company with hundreds of millions of revenues and billions of assets under management, vetted by Fidelity, Mastercard, and dozens of regulators, ever have to resort to petty theft, let alone children with medical needs? ?’ That is the logical but forgotten question.”

Nexo says this isn’t the first time they’ve been part of what they call a “coordinated attack,” citing allegations from 2020 that it was behind Zeus Capital, an asset management firm that wanted to take Chainlink (LINK) down.
