Dogecoin (DOGE) Close to Breaking out of a Long-Term Descending Resistance Line

The short-term move before the eventual breakout is still inconclusive.

Dogecoin (DOGE) price could soon break out of a long-term descending resistance line. However, the short-term move before the eventual breakout is still inconclusive.

DOGE price has been falling below a descending resistance line since reaching an all-time high price of $0.739 in May 2021. So far, the downward movement has led to a low of $0.049 in June 2022.

Initially, it looked like the drop triggered a breakdown below the $0.056 horizontal support area. However, the price bounced back and created a long wick to the downside, validating the area as support (green circle).

So far, the line has been validated five times (red icons), increasing its legitimacy. Due to the high number of touches and the long time the line has been active, a break above it would likely trigger an acceleration of Dogecoin’s upward price movement. It is worth noting that the resistance line is only visible on the logarithmic chart.

The weekly RSI reading supports the possibility of a breakout. The indicator has been generating a bullish divergence (green line) since the beginning of June. The trend line of the divergence remains intact.

For these reasons, a DOGE price breakout seems likely. If one occurs, the price of Dogecoin could quickly rise toward the nearest resistance level at $0.16.

Dogecoin Price Consolidates at $0.06

Despite DOGE’s bullish price prediction on the weekly time frame, the technical analysis readings for the shorter time frames are still unclear.

The daily time frame confirms the legitimacy of the $0.06 area. With the exception of two deviations, the area has acted as support since June 15. Currently, the DOGE price is trading within the area. Therefore, it is unclear whether the area acts as support or resistance.

Also, the daily RSI is moving freely above and below line 50. This could be a sign of an indeterminate trend and lines up with price action.

Finally, the two-hour chart shows that Dogecoin price is trading inside a symmetrical triangle. The symmetrical triangle is considered a neutral pattern, which fits perfectly with the inconclusive price action and technical indicator readings.

As a result, whether DOGE price rises or falls out of the triangle will likely determine the direction of the short-term trend.

Long-Term Uptrend, Short-Term Unfinished

To conclude, the long-term Dogecoin price forecast is bullish due to the bullish divergence on the weekly RSI and the multiple attempts to break the long-term resistance line. As a result of these readings, an eventual break in the line is expected.

However, the direction of the movement in the short term is not yet determined. A weekly closing price below $0.06 would invalidate the bullish assumption and indicate that new lows are expected instead.

An analysis of the long/short ratio showed a slight advantage for sellers in the last 12 hours. Buyers, in turn, should closely monitor funding rate movements, along with the long/short ratio to gauge overall sentiment.

Finally, the dog-themed coin shared a 61% 30-day correlation with the king coin. Therefore, keeping an eye on the movement of Bitcoin would complement these technical factors.

Who Will Catch Do Kwon First, Angry Investors or Interpol?

Crypto investors scorned by the TerraUSD crash have joined the search for Terralabs CEO Do Kwon.

Cryptocurrency investors have teamed up in the search for Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon, an internationally wanted man.

Nearly 4,400 crypto investors have joined the UST Restitution Group (URG). Scorned by the collapse of the stablecoin TerraUSD, these investors are dedicated to tracking down Kwon, whom they hold accountable.

URG was originally formed on May 16, as a chat room for investors in the Terra ecosystem, and to help launch lawsuits on behalf of its members to recover lost funds from TerraUSD Classic (USTC), the so-called stablecoin that was spun off of the US dollar.

The association uses data to try to discern Kwon’s whereabouts, which members share with each other in a Discord channel.

The URG has members from all over the world, who have narrowed down the places they think Kwon might be. Suggestions include places ranging from Russia and Azerbaijan, to isolated islands like the Seychelles or Mauritius.

However, based on an ā€œapparent 3-5 hour time zone shift in the dataā€, they believe Kwon is most likely in Dubai. ā€œDubai is crypto-friendly, very international, and has limited extradition treaties,ā€ a URG member explained.

Prosecutors in South Korea also believe that Kwon may have left his previous location in Singapore for Dubai last month.

Bone to Pick with the CEO of Terra Luna

URG members are among the many who lost untold sums from the stablecoin’s collapse. One member described losing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In addition to delaying his life plans by many years, he said the stress has likely shortened his lifespan. Another member said that he had actually worked for Terraform Labs and felt responsible for bringing their leader to justice.

After losing his savings for a house, another user said he organized a class action lawsuit against Kwon in Singapore. A similar class action lawsuit was also launched in the United States.

One of the reasons for this member’s participation is his skepticism about the efforts of official authorities. Although Interpol has issued a Red Notice for Kwon, “it is up to the host country to act,” the member said. As long as Kwon’s location remains undetermined, this approach would appear to be ineffective.

Recent Comments from the CEO of Terra

In a recent interview, Do Kwon also commented on the Red Notice, saying that it was not an international arrest warrant. Although he regretted the damage the collapse had caused to so many, he maintained that he had done nothing wrong.

Despite this claim, he has refused to reveal his location, citing safety concerns. Kwon suggested that he moved from Singapore after the fall of Terra for privacy and personal safety reasons, citing his apartment being burglarized as an example, stating the following:

ā€œIt’s not in the interest of being on the run, or anything like that, that I don’t want to reveal where I live. It’s just that whenever the place where I live is known, it becomes almost impossible for me to live there.ā€

In addition to the Red Notice and lawsuits, South Korean authorities charged Kwon with financial scam. Kwon said he was cooperating with prosecutors by submitting the documents they had requested.

However, Kwon has forgotten to hand over a crucial document requested by the authorities, his passport. Consequently, South Korea said that it would no longer be valid as of October 19.

Companies Can Take Advantage of Bear Markets to Grow and Hire Talented People

Economic uncertainty leads companies to use their strengths to solve real problems for end users, thus laying solid foundations for their future. Bill Gurley said that Web3, the metaverse, decentralized finance, and the broader crypto market offer unprecedented opportunities for building.

The market’s entrance into the next bearish market has become increasingly evident over the last few months. While the global economy has collapsed, the next Bitcoin halving is almost two years from now. However, Dion Guillaume from door.io thinks this adverse situation might be an excellent opportunity for many companies to build.

Companies Can Establish a Solid Foundation during Bearish Markets

Economic uncertainty forces companies to reassess their operations, cutting areas that drain resources and focusing on promising ones. Bearish markets lead them to exploit their strengths to solve real problems for end users. That way, they lay solid foundations for their future and the sector where they intend to compete.

Outperforming their competitors and raising higher funding rounds does not worry investors as much as efficient and smooth trading. Since it is harder to raise funds during a bearish market, companies need to reassess their operations. That offers them the opportunity to move in a more promising direction.

Bearish Markets Offer More Opportunities to Companies and their Employees

A bearish market allows companies to hire top-tier talent without going bankrupt. That situation forces them to reduce their staff, increasing the number of talented people seeking new opportunities. Since workers are more willing to discuss their working conditions, the firms interested in hiring also obtain benefits.

There has been a rise in interest in hybrid businesses or fully remote operations over the last two years. The bearish market will continue to drive it, thus benefiting employers and employees.

Large physical offices will not be necessary for companies, which will reduce the consumption of resources. Besides, employees’ productivity will increase, as they will benefit from not commuting and having a more relaxed work environment.

Bearish Markets Offer Opportunities to Companies Based on Blockchain Technology

Bill Gurley, a renowned venture capitalist, recently said that now is the best time to build a company from scratch.

The executive said that Web3, the metaverse, decentralized finance, and the broader crypto market offer unprecedented opportunities. He believes that many are wrong about viewing cryptocurrencies only as digital money, as they have other relevant features.

Companies and countries worldwide change their opinion about cryptocurrencies almost daily, encouraging their adoption and offering opportunities for future development. Bitcoin emerged in response to the 2008 global financial crisis, leading to the development of the crypto industry, now worth USD 1 trillion.

The bearish market and the global economic crisis might become the engine for developing the next Bitcoin. Nobody should disregard a new industry based on blockchain technology, as it offers many opportunities to build.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is trading at around USD 19,017 and accumulated a 1.0% loss over the last 24 hours. While its trading volume is above USD 24.69 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 363.85 billion, according to CoinGecko.

According to On-Chain Data, the Whales Increase their BTC and ETH Holdings

Ki Young Ju recently said the trading volume of Bitcoin on exchanges had grown 20 times, but the price has not followed that jump. BTC and ETH have become increasingly scarce on cryptocurrency exchanges, as the outflow has exceeded the inflow, signaling growing accumulation.

The percentage of Bitcoin (BTC) in the hands of large investors has reached its lowest level since 2019. Although the price has dropped by around 60% this year, its demand has increased over the last three months.

Ki Young Ju, the CEO of CryptoQuant, said the trading volume of BTC on exchanges had grown 20 times over the last six months. The crypto asset may not be in a significant accumulation phase, as the price did not follow that jump.

The entrepreneur reported that the trading volume dropped toward a yearly low last month. However, he pointed out that the daily closing price has not changed much, indicating that someone is buying all the liquidity.

Bitcoin Is the Leader in Purchases in the Crypto Market

According to Ju, the spot trading volume on Binance rose to 84% as the Bitcoin price reached the USD 20,000 level. Meanwhile, Coinbase managed to capture 9% of the total volume after experiencing a sharp drop in revenue.

Although the trading volume grew, the number of coins on exchanges has dropped dramatically. According to Glassnode, addresses transferring BTC to cryptocurrency exchanges recently reached their lowest level, reiterating a significant accumulation phase.

The Cryptocurrency Whales Also Invest Billions in Ether

Data from analytics firm Santiment indicates that the cryptocurrency whales are also interested in Ether (ETH). Addresses holding at least 1 million ETH have bought over 3.5 million units over the last few months, totaling USD 4.55 billion.

ETH has been increasingly scarce on cryptocurrency exchanges, as with BTC. The outflow of the token has exceeded its inflow over the last two weeks, indicating a growing accumulation.

It is a matter of time before seeing how long the whales will continue hoarding Bitcoin and Ether. BTC is trading at USD 19,020 and ETH at USD 1,282, dropping by 0.2% and 0.8%, respectively, over the last 24 hours.

The Crypto Whales Start to Invest before the Bullish Run

The whales have already defined a plan to buy crypto assets to take advantage of the next growth phase in the market. Those long-term investors do not want to wait for the SEC to approve a Bitcoin spot ETF to invest.

In addition, the direct purchases of cryptocurrencies through trading platforms are the preferred method by institutional investors. Over 55% of those companies would like to increase exposure to crypto assets rather than derivatives.

Most institutional investors want to take advantage of the next cryptocurrency bullish run without waiting for crypto winter to end. For example, the NYDIG group has raised USD 720 million for its Bitcoin fund.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ether have become increasingly relevant in the global economic system, which institutional investors know well. Despite the current bullish trend in the crypto market, many firms have decided to acquire BTC and ETH to increase their reserves.

The Approval of the DCCPA Would Be Disadvantageous to US-Based DeFi Developers

Previous bills integrated node operators and wallet producers as digital commodity brokers, but the new one is detrimental to decentralized DeFi developers. Samuel Richard Chen from crypto investment fund 1 Confirmation believes the DCCPA will allow the CFTC to kill the DeFi market and benefit CEX.

In early 2022, the US Senate approved a bill enabling the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to supervise the crypto market. However, the crypto community has criticized it for its provisions against developers of decentralized finance (DeFi) apps.

The legislators work on a copy of the Digital Commodities Consumer Protection Act (DCCPA), which outlines how the CFTC must regulate the market. Although that law is only a draft, many sources indicate that they have passed it on internally.

Gabriel Shapiro, the senior advisor of Delphi Labs, posted the sketch to show the crypto community an overview of upcoming regulatory frameworks.

The blockchain attorney said he believes that transparency and open dialogue are essential to cryptocurrency legislation. That led him to post the DCCPA draft, previously circulating among the authorities, for the public to see.

The New Draft Law Affects the Local DeFi Community

The local crypto community receives heavy criticism, as that bill does not consider software program developers as cryptocurrency intermediaries.

DeFi developers must report their taxes to the fiscal authorities as digital commodity brokers. There will be no legal certainty if they operate independently without having a standard centralized company.

Contrary to the current bill, previous ones integrated node operators and wallet producers as digital commodity brokers. In other words, the draft law is detrimental to decentralized DeFi and web3 developers, as it will not understand them.

If the DCCPA receives approval, the CFTC must publish a report on the size of the market and the DeFi protocol within six months. The regulatory agency may also work with legislators abroad to prevent the US law from compromising the international image.

The CEO of FTX Receives Criticism for Supporting the DCCPA

Although independent DeFi developers disagree with the CFTC bill, Samuel Bankman-Fried, the CEO of FTX, considers it helpful for CEX exchanges. He said he is optimistic that the DCCPA will help protect Cryptocurrency exchange users without risking software, blockchains, validators, or DeFi.

However, he promised to change his position by not supporting the DCCPA if anyone could prove him wrong. Richard Chen from crypto investment fund 1 Confirmation believes that the DCCPA will allow the CFTC to kill the DeFi market.

Bankman-Fried also made offensive statements when outlining the legal roadmap for the crypto market, which benefits CEX.

The above draft is receiving much criticism from the local DeFi community and many supporters of decentralized cryptocurrencies. Analysts recommend that the CFTC modify the bill, as there are also many unreasonable factors.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is trading at around USD 19,145 and has accumulated a 0.4% loss over the last 24 hours. While its daily trading volume is above USD 23.18 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 367.40 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Bitcoin (BTC) Price Prediction: When Will It Bottom?

The MVRV trend (3 years) of Bitcoin during the last year and a half looks very similar to the situation of 2017-2019.

The price of Bitcoin (BTC) has kept investors waiting for a significant move, but it is likely that a slow and steady price consolidation could continue to keep the market waiting.

Bitcoin price has been in a further downward trend for most of this year. As the price of BTC has been trading below the $20,000 mark for more than two weeks, market participants are watching for signs of a breakout.

With no major catalysts for a breakout in sight, many in the market ponder whether the $19,000 range is the bottom of the market.

Bitcoin (BTC) Price: Overview

Following the June 2022 crash that dropped the Bitcoin price by more than 35%, the BTC price has maintained range-bound momentum.

In mid-August, the price of Bitcoin reached a local high of around $25,000, but since the bulls were unable to sustain the price above that level, another retracement of roughly 25% ensued in the following weeks.

After nearly four months of stagnant price action, it makes sense to watch the long-term trend of BTC to better understand when Bitcoin price might bottom.

Santiment data showed that the Mean Dollar Invested Age (MDIA) indicator is at its highest point, which means that there is no distribution of coins for a long time. On the other hand, the MVRV trend (3 years) of the last year and a half looks very similar to the 2017-2019 situation.

It is worth noting that at the end of 2018, when MVRV had a similar pattern, the price bottomed out at the same level.

Additionally, stock volume has dropped significantly from the top of the market, and sentiment has had many more lows than highs simultaneously.

Usually, when sentiment is negative, price tends to go higher, doing the opposite of the pack.

Market Participants are Rekt

The loss of profits made on the Bitcoin network shows that in BTC, participants have experienced losses at the same level as in 2019. However, in USD terms, the losses are much higher, as the price of BTC has grown almost 10 times since then.

NPRL is a good indicator that indicates how interested the market participants are.

Additionally, data from Glassnode highlighted that Bitcoin price could be poised for a burst of volatility.

It is important to remember that the price of Bitcoin has been cyclically volatile, which can be demonstrated with a few examples: in early 2013, the value rose from $15 to a high of $266 before collapsing to around $50. In 2018, the price of this cryptocurrency surged to $20,000 and then dropped to $6,000.

Some factors that cause volatility are the following: rumors spread across social networks, the strength or weakness of fiat currencies, the presence of forks, moves made by the whales, the ability of an asset to be converted into another currency or cash (liquidity), and the size of the market, among others.

Interestingly, futures open interest has reached all-time highs, despite liquidations being at all-time lows.

Therefore, looking at the current long-term data situation may give Bitcoin Hodlers some hope. However, history does not always repeat itself. In the event of a bearish outcome, the price of BTC could return to $16,000 and subsequently to the $14,000 price level.
