The United States is Losing Leadership in the Crypto Industry

In its “State of Crypto” report, the American venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz points to the excessive regulation that legislators are imposing, and the increasing scrutiny of the country’s regulators to the crypto industry as one of the main causes that has led the nation to lose some of its leadership in this industry.

According to the firm, all activity related to cryptocurrencies has been declining in the country, as well as the number of developers operating from the United States and web traffic related to crypto assets.

While regulation is necessary to bring clarity to both the cryptocurrency industry and the companies that operate within it, cracking down on new business models undermines fundamental American principles and spurs the growth of innovation outside the country, Andreessen Horowitz noted.

The Billion Dollar Dilemma: Gold or Bitcoin?

Gold vs. Bitcoin: Exploring Stability and Disruptive Potential for Long-Term Investments. Understanding the finite supply of Bitcoin, as well as the ever-expanding reserves of gold. Balancing traditional assets like gold with digital alternatives like Bitcoin.

Today’s world of finance requires investors to face the challenge of deciding between traditional assets and digital assets like Bitcoin.

This dilemma leads to examining the proven stability of gold, as well as the disruptive potential of the most important cryptocurrency in the market, with the idea of gaining an understanding of which investment might be the smartest option over a 10-year period.

Let’s imagine a scenario where you receive $1.7 billion in gold or Bitcoin, but the investment must be kept for a decade. This hypothetical situation raises the question as to which asset would be a wiser choice.

By exploring the history, benefits, and drawbacks of both gold and Bitcoin, the goal is to provide a balanced perspective on this fascinating enigma.

Gold: The Time-Tested

Gold has been a store of value for millennia, often representing wealth, power, and stability. One of the main advantages of gold is its role as a hedge against inflation. As fiat currencies lose purchasing power due to inflation, gold tends to maintain or even appreciate in value.

The physical nature of gold offers a sense of security and tangibility that digital assets lack, appealing to those who value tangible wealth. However, gold does come with its share of drawbacks. The need for secure storage and transportation can be expensive and logistically challenging, especially for large quantities.

Gold deposits are still being discovered and mined, with an estimated 171,300 tons of gold already mined, as well as an additional 52,000 tons of underground reserves. For investors who prioritize stability, gold’s track record as a store of value and inflation hedge may be more attractive. Despite storage and transportation challenges, the tangible nature and historical significance of gold offer a sense of security.

Bitcoin: The Digital Disruptor

Bitcoin’s supply is strictly limited to 21 million coins, set by its creator Satoshi Nakamoto, which has been a determining factor in the currency’s meteoric rise in value. The most attractive feature of Bitcoin is its potential for high returns. Early adopters who invested in cryptocurrency have made amazing profits.

On the downside, Bitcoin faces regulatory uncertainties that could affect its future value. Governments around the world have taken various stances on cryptocurrencies, ranging from outright bans to embracing technology. In addition, its notorious price volatility poses a risk to investors, with the potential for significant losses.

Ultimately, the choice between gold and Bitcoin depends on individual preferences and risk tolerance. As the financial landscape continues to evolve, investors must adapt and make informed decisions based on goals and risk tolerance. Portfolio diversification helps embrace traditional assets like gold and digital alternatives like Bitcoin, ensuring success in a future permeated by uncertainty.

SOL Price Soars 14% Ahead of Solana’s Saga Mobile Launch Event

SOL price increased double digits, jumping 14% and breading out of a descending parallel channel, as the upcoming mobile release of Solana Saga generates interest. It traded to highs of $23.74 on Tuesday, with SOL reflecting massive gains for Bitcoin.

The native Solana token has seen double-digit gains in the last 24 hours, as bulls appear ahead of the highly anticipated launch of Solana Mobile Saga.

On Tuesday, as the price of Bitcoin topped $30,000 for the first time in 10 months, Solana matched the bullish pressure with his own rally. SOL traded at highs of $23.74, up more than 14%, as excitement builds around the April 13 event.

Solana Price Could Have Big Catalyst On Saga Mobile Launch

The Saga event, scheduled to be broadcast live from San Francisco on Solana Mobile’s website, is likely to be a major price catalyst before and after. Solana Mobile announced Saga last June and the release date is on March 23 of this year.

On March 23, Solana Mobile tweeted the following:

“Everyone has a story. What will yours be? Start your Saga on 4.13.2023. Solana Mobile Saga Launch Event. Thursday, 4.13.2023, 10 am Pacific Time. Stay tuned for live streaming info.”

A keynote address from Solana Labs CEO Anatoly Yakovenko will be the highlight of the day, and the community will learn more about the Web3-enabled mobile.

However, even as the Android phone brings Web3 into users’ pockets, offering seamless access to cryptocurrency trading, NFT minting, on-chain gaming, and dApps, SOL holders will also have an eye on the market.

SOL Price Short-Term Outlook

According to the most recent analysis, SOL has breached the upper trend line of a descending parallel channel pattern. Crypto analyst @AltcoinSherpa says that SOL/USD needs to make a move for the 200-day EMA to increase the chances of a bigger upside. The area that the analyst highlights currently has an immediate supply wall close to $26.

However, a successful breakout and retest could see buyers target $40. The daily outlook for the RSI suggests that the bulls could see another lift from the current levels.

In a tweet, the analyst comments on the following:

“I think something like this is going to happen. Move up to the 200d EMA and then consolidate a bit more and then we see a stronger move up. Overall, this has bottomed in the midterm IMO.”

On the downside, the 50-day EMA provides support around $21, which has been a strong demand zone since mid-March. Bulls will hope that Saga’s mobile launch isn’t presented as a news-selling event. If it does, a drop in the area of around $16 could threaten more losses for SOL.

As published on the CryptoPredictions website, Solana started in April 2023 at $21,205 and is expected to end the month at $24,904. During April, the expected maximum price of SOL is $28,907 and the minimum is $19,657.

The SOL price for today (12.04.2023) is forecast to be in the price range of $20,019 – $29,440. Solana’s price is expected to end today at $23,552.

In the last two weeks, Cardano (ADA) whales have accumulated 560 million tokens, worth around $218.4 million. ADA holders hit an all-time high of over 4.4 million, while long positions dominate funding rates.

Recent data points to whales becoming more interested in Cardano [ADA]. As this interest continues to build, it would be important to see how other investors react, and how this will affect ADA’s price trajectory.

Cardano Whales on a Shopping Spree

Over the last fortnight, ADA whales have been on a buying spree, acquiring a whopping 560 million ADA tokens valued at approximately $218.4 million.

According to Santiment data, the accumulation of these whales has not only increased the total number of ADA tokens they hold, but it has also increased the percentage of tokens in circulation.

So far, addresses with between 100,000 and 1 million ADAs have seen an increase, holding 17.23% of the total supply. In addition, there has also been an increase in the number of addresses that have more than 1 million ADA, which now collectively have 16.51% of the total supply.

Heavy is the Head that Wears the Crown

Recent data from Santiment also revealed that the number of ADA holders was increasing. After a sharp drop observed in January, the number of headlines has been steadily increasing.

So far, the number of ADA holders has surpassed 4.4 million, which is an all-time high. Despite the current price trend, this growing number indicates the increasing interest in ADA.

Long Positions Dominate ADA Funding Rates

When looking at ADA derivatives, investors were seen to be quite optimistic about a possible price increase. Currently, funding rates seen on several prominent exchanges indicated that investors were betting on a price rise.

In particular, the funding rate metric suggested that most investors had taken long positions, making it the dominant position.

30-Day MVRV and Daily Time Frame Analysis

An examination of ADA’s 30-day Market Value to Realized Value ratio (MVRV) suggested that the token was slightly overvalued. The MVRV stood at 1.2%, which could indicate that further accumulation is expected in the coming weeks.

Looking at the daily ADA’s timeframe chart, the token had been enjoying a modest uptrend over the past few days. However, its value had declined, and it was currently trading at around $0.38.

After the significant drop it faced in February, its upward trajectory from March to now resulted in an increase in value of more than 26%. Furthermore, the chart indicated that it had held above the neutral line on the Relative Strength Index (RSI), and it had maintained a bullish trend.

Bitcoin: Not a Threat to the Environment

84% of Americans do not consider Bitcoin a potential threat to the environment or to the environmental strategies or objectives outlined by the government for the conservation of the planet.

Bitcoin mining does not pose a danger to the environment, Americans say, according to a survey carried out by the market research company OnePoll for the global platform Forbes Advisor of the media company specializing in business and technology Forbes.

The survey was applied to a population sample of 2,000 US citizens who were familiar with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

Most of the citizens surveyed stated that Bitcoin has no impact on the environment or, rather, that it could be very slight. The survey results also reveal that close to a quarter of the surveyed population perceives Bitcoin as a positive element for the ecosystem. Only 6% of those surveyed stated that Bitcoin has a negative impact.

Bitcoin and the Environmental Impact

Bitcoin is the world’s most powerful cryptocurrency and Blockchain network. For 14 years, this chain of blocks has served as a digital and alternative financial system for a large number of people who can carry out financial transactions globally, in a fast, decentralized, and accessible way, without the need for intermediaries.

The Forbes Advisor report, while focused on demonstrating that Bitcoin’s operation does leave a significant carbon footprint on the environment, highlights that most Americans agree that Bitcoin is not a threat to the planet.

The report notes that much of Americans are concerned about investing their money in ESG-compliant assets, which is why Forbes Advisor researchers believe that if investors understood the carbon footprint Bitcoin could generate, they would likely consider exploring other investment alternatives.

However, it should also be noted that a large number of times, publications and media ignore the efforts that Bitcoin miners are making to continuously improve their energy consumption and become more efficient.

Bitcoin’s Energy Consumption is 23% Hydroelectric

ClimateTech investor and ESG analyst Daniel Batten shared the results of a report by research platform Batcoinz, which shows that the main source of energy used by Bitcoin miners nowadays is hydroelectric. According to the platform, the use of energy sources based on fossil fuels has been declining at a rate of 6.2% per year since January 2020.

Several American Bitcoin mining companies, such as Hut8, Terawulf, and Blockfusion, are operating on hydroelectric power. Crypto mining companies that belong to the ERCOT network of Texas (United States), such as AntPool and Riot Blockchain, among others, also support their operations on the Blockchain network through the energy provided by wind farms.

Bitcoin’s Independence from Fossil Fuels

Batten highlighted that thanks to the integration of clean energy sources into the Bitcoin network, it has become the only major global industry whose main source of energy is not a fossil fuel.

In the state of Texas, the Bitcoin mining company Decimal Digital Currency inaugurated its new facilities in Granbury last month, from which it is using its surplus energy to mine Bitcoins while providing stability to the state’s electrical network at the request of the Council of Texas Energy Reliability Testing (ERCOT).

Jamaican Government Strategy to Incentivize CBDC Adoption

The Government of Jamaica recently announced two new incentive programs to increase the adoption of its CBDC, JAM-DEX. The “Small and Micro Business Incentive Program” will reward the first 10,000 traders to register on the official JAM-DEX platform with a deposit of J$25,000 ($164). The “Individual Wallet User Loyalty Program” provides loyalty points to regular JAM-DEX users that can be redeemed for 2% cash back on qualifying purchases.

The Government of Jamaica recently announced two new incentive programs to increase the adoption of its central bank digital currency (CBDC), JAM-DEX. Such will reward companies that accept the digital currency at the point of sale. As well as individual users who use it regularly. The hope is to ease the transition to the digital economy.

Jamaica’s Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, announced these two incentive programs while discussing the new budget for the upcoming fiscal year on March 7.

CBDC Loyalty Programs

The first is the “Incentive Program for Small and Micro-enterprises,” whose aim is to reward the first 10,000 traders to register on the official JAM-DEX platform from April 1, 2023 with a deposit of J$25,000 (about $164). Target merchants include restaurants, gas stations, hair salons, and other personal care services. Last year it was reported that a lack of merchant adoption was delaying the launch of the CBDC.

The second is the “Individual Wallet User Loyalty Program,” which provides loyalty points to regular JAM-DEX users, which can be redeemed for 2% cash back on qualifying purchases, for example.

Although all bank account holders automatically qualify for a CBDC wallet, the goal is to attract CBDC users who do not have bank accounts, through a simplified KYC program. In 2022, the government implemented an incentive to reward the first 100,000 Jamaicans to sign up for JAM-DEX with a deposit of J$2,500 ($16).

Only 36,000 people took advantage of the J$2,500 incentive, though, so the scheme has been extended to include up to 60,000 new wallet holders who do not have bank accounts, and who sign up using the simplified KYC process.

Effectiveness of CBDC Adoption Incentives

The degree of incentives means that not enough people have signed up with the CBDC yet. The government reported that, as of February 2023, only 190,000 customers had registered for the Lynk wallet, which included 185,410 individuals, 90 small merchants, and 4,500 micro-merchants. Lynk is a wallet operated by the National Commercial Bank. The Finance Minister said there were plans for four additional wallets a year ago.

Other countries have also implemented similar incentive programs to encourage the adoption of their CBDCs. For example, in China, digital yuan initiatives included coupons and rewards.

Incentive programs can be an effective tool to drive the adoption of new financial technology, such as CBDC. However, it is also important to address potential users’ concerns about data security and privacy. Also, anxieties may arise about the stability and interoperability of the system, among other key issues.

In this regard, the Jamaican government has taken steps to ensure user confidence in the JAM-DEX and its associated platform. The Bank of Jamaica has established a robust regulatory framework for the CBDC, which includes cybersecurity, governance, and oversight requirements, among other aspects.
