Bitcoin is in a Hazardous Position as Demand Wipes up

Bitcoin (BTC) is in a critical position, experiencing declining demand despite a recent break above the $28,000 price level.

Bitcoin was down, 4% in the past 24 hours at $27,808. The largest cryptocurrency was withdrawing from levels above $28,000 that it briefly surpassed on Monday for the first time in several weeks.

After several weeks of trading roughly between $26,500 and $27,500, Bitcoin trading has been more volatile over the past seven days.

This prevailing bearish scenario does not provide substantial support for the asset’s actual price movement to counter additional declines.

A recent analysis conducted by CryptoQuant shed light on the true situation, emphasizing that bitcoin’s initial upward momentum was driven by growing market demand, which appears to have slowed significantly in recent times.

According to data extracted from bitcoin trading volume on exchanges, the report notes that the price surge that began earlier this year was sustained by a noteworthy increase in BTC trading volume on derivatives and spot exchanges.

In particular, BTC experienced a noteworthy rise from its initial price of $16 541 at the beginning of the year to a high of $26 386 in March, representing a noteworthy increase of 59% in three months. Data indicates that bitcoin trading volume witnessed substantial growth on both spot and futures exchanges.

Increased demand during the rally served as a hedge against potential price corrections, but trading volume on the spot exchanges experienced a significant decline after BTC reached $26 000. However, volume on derivatives exchanges remained high, offering enough support for the asset to reach the $30,000 milestone in April.

CryptoQuant’s report highlights that demand on futures exchanges has also declined, leaving Bitcoin with a shortage of demand. This exposes the asset to further declines if bearish traders take command of the scene.

Bitcoin Hits $28,000 for the First Time in 20 days

This decline in demand came amid bitcoin’s recent recovery from the $28,000 level after 20 days. May has demonstrated to be a challenging one for BTC. The asset has been involved in an uphill battle to avoid further declines below the $25,800 threshold.

CryptoQuant reported that according to data from bitcoin’s trading volume on exchanges, the report observes that the price surge that commenced earlier this year was sustained by a notable rise in BTC trade volume across spot and derivatives exchanges.

Bitcoin is in a Dangerous Position as Demand Dries up – 1

BTC started May at $29 233, but fell to $25 811 as of May 12, reflecting an 11.7% decline in less than two weeks. The asset subsequently recovered from lows below $26 000, but has struggled to maintain a position above $27 000, according to a BTC Price graph from May 30th published by Trading View.

After a remarkable 4.51 % gain on May 28th, BTC successfully regained its $28 000 level, as reported by crypto.news. Nonetheless, subsequent declines have led to its precise $27,786 value at the time of this report. Despite these recent fluctuations, the asset has managed to maintain a 3.4% gain over the past seven days.

Bitcoin (BTC): The Perfect Retirement Savings Alternative

Bitcoin’s growing popularity in retirement savings discussions is evident, with key financial advisers advocating its inclusion in 401(k) plans and its potential to generate high returns.

Traditional retirement savings in the United States predominantly revolve around the 401(k) plan. However, many American employees are re-evaluating this conventional path for various reasons, as an unexpected competitor emerges. Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, is increasingly seen as the top saving technology.

Recent changes in the financial landscape highlight the rise of Bitcoin in retirement savings discussions and the reassessment of the 401(k) plan, amid growing economic uncertainties.

The Waning Appeal of a 401k Retirement Plan

Decades ago, 401(k) plans emerged as a model of financial security, but recent events indicate a change in opinion. Financial commentators have deliberated on the pause on 401(k) account contributions. Reasons include bear market potential and a lack of satisfactory growth, leading many to reconsider their investment strategy. Other factors include the high probability of scams.

As a matter of fact, the Lincoln Police Department recently reported a phone scam involving a 67-year-old woman who was scammed out of her 401(k) retirement savings. She reportedly lost $52,000 in the fraud. Initially, she was made aware of fraudulent charges on her Amazon-linked bank account.

Believing she was dealing with her bank’s Fraud Department, she got into phone conversations with a man who persuaded her to withdraw from her 401(k) to buy Bitcoin for two months. The scammer promised you two checks in the mail for $69,999. However, these checks never arrived.

The case further highlights the vulnerability of these savings plans. Even Shawn Plummer, CEO of The Annuity Expert, highlights the real threat of 401(k) accounts losing money, casting doubt on their advertised safety, in the following terms:

“Your 401k retirement plan can lose money. However, it is essential to understand that this does not mean all your money is gone forever. The stock market is constantly fluctuating, which means the value of your investments will go up and down over time,” said Plummer.

Bitcoin: A New Era in Employee Savings

Amid emerging doubts about 401(k) plans, Bitcoin is entering the mainstream narrative. A recent report sheds light on the pros and cons of holding Bitcoin in a 401(k) plan, which is becoming the focus of retirement savings discussions.

Douglas Boneparth, the founder of Bone Fide Wealth, suggests that investors who want to allocate a portion of their retirement savings to cryptocurrencies should consider focusing on Bitcoin. As the most prominent cryptocurrency, it presents a less complex opportunity for speculation, according to Boneparth.

Similarly, renowned financial advisor Ric Edelman argues that including Bitcoin in 401(k) plans emphasizes the potential for high returns. Supports the potential of Bitcoin investments within a 401(k) plan. The expert signals a shift in the perception of cryptocurrency from a speculative asset to a viable investment option.

Edelman added that American employees adopt a dollar cost averaging strategy when including Bitcoin in 401(k) retirement plans. This strategy involves constantly investing a set amount of money from each paycheck over a long period of time. It effectively mitigates volatility, creating a more stable investment environment. According to Edelman, “this makes it the ideal place to buy Bitcoin”.

All in all, US employees’ growing interest in Bitcoin signals a potential paradigm shift in retirement savings. While the traditional 401(k) plan was once considered the gold standard of retirement preparation, it is undeniable that the transformation of the retirement savings landscape is underway, led by the pioneering spirit of Bitcoin and that of those who have adopted it.

Whales Return to Dogecoin as Bullish Metrics Heat Up

On Sunday, May 28, DOGE whale transactions reached one of their highest levels.

The bullish case for Dogecoin remains very strong even though the coin has taken quite a beating in recent weeks. The market reversal, coupled with the increased adoption rate the meme coin is experiencing, could see it complete a 50% move up any time soon.

Dogecoin Whale Transactions Are on the Rise

Last week, Dogecoin whales woke up from their slumber. This came to a head on May 28, when DOGE whale transactions hit one of their all-time highs. Data from IntoTheBlock shows that large DOGE transactions, meaning transactions carrying at least $100,000 worth of coins, crossed $1.94 billion in the past seven days.

As a result, Dogecoin’s volume also increased exponentially, crossing the $1 billion mark. This rapid increase in volume shows the willingness of investors to participate in the market once again, which further plays into the bullish narrative of the meme coin.

Transaction volume is not the only Dogecoin metric that also saw an increase in the past week. The number of DOGE transactions taking place on the network has also increased exponentially, thanks to the popularity of BRC-20 tokens.

According to BitInfoCharts, the number of daily DOGE transactions grew from an average of 20,000 in early May, to 2.0777 million closing the month. This increase in the number of transactions also explains the increase in transaction volume, as well as the growing bullish sentiment in the community, as more activity on the network means more demand for DOGE.

DOGE Could Explode in the Short Term

As was the case with Bitcoin when the Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens gained popularity, resulting in an increase in price, DOGE could follow the same trend. If this happens, then the Dogecoin price could break the general market trend and start a solo rally.

With its already high volumes, such a single rally could see DOGE rising as much as 50% from its current level. Additionally, investors are already recapturing the gains of smaller meme coins such as PEPE into DOGE, providing even more protection for the digital asset.

If DOGE continues to rise, its first major resistance lies at $0.075 at this point. However, this resistance is not as strong as the one at $0.08, which will really determine if the meme coin can go as high as 50%. Currently, DOGE is trending at $0.073 in price, up 1.02% in the past day, and up 1.69% in the past week.

According to CryptoPredictions, Dogecoin started in May 2023 at $0.079950676451439 and is forecast to end the month at $0.084524966282426. During May, the expected DOGE price maximum is $0.1208131885317 and the minimum is $0.079950676451439.

Similarly, the DOGE price for today (05.30.2023) is forecast to be in the price range of $0.062361763762344 – $0.091708476121094. Dogecoin price is forecast to end today at $0.073366780896875.

Finally, the price of DOGE is expected to be located tomorrow (05.31.2023) in the price range of $0.071846221340062 $ – $0.10565620785303. Dogecoin is forecast to start at $0.084524966282426 tomorrow and end the day at $0.082834466956778.

AI-Based Cryptocurrencies Lose 25% of Their Value

Over the past 90 days, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cryptocurrencies have suffered a sharp correction in price and volume.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cryptocurrencies lost 25% of their value over the past 90 days. This pullback in the crypto market contrasts with the powerful push in the stock markets. In fact, the actions covered by this technology print almost +24% to the Nasdaq so far this year.

Three months ago, the currencies linked to this technology enjoyed a great boost. Some $4 billion in capitalization hit these cryptos amid the nascent AI rush. However, since then they began to lose traction. Until now, approximately $1 billion would have evaporated.

The push of the Nasdaq 100, led by NVIDIA, Microsoft and Alphabet, is strongly tied to enthusiasm for AI. That strength doesn’t seem to support their counterparts in the virtual currency market, though, at least not to the same extent.

The Waning Development of AI-Based Cryptocurrencies

By the end of February, AI-powered cryptocurrencies appeared to be only in the early part of their growth. The push led to the creation of some 74 different coins that looked promising on paper. However, from that date until now reality has been contrary to that assumption.

The ghost of the Metaverse seems to surround the coins of this new buzzword among investors. It is worth noting that coins like Mana are currently stagnant, after losing much of their value in 2022. These tokens were not immune to the winter in the digital currency market.

Metaverse currencies, however, had the characteristic of being high at the same time that the investment was in the forefront. Currently, however, their value is dwindling, despite the fact that investors seek exposure to that technology.

Whether the fate of AI-based cryptocurrencies is the same as those covered in the Metaverse is uncertain. Nevertheless, these assets can be profitable, despite being high risk and volatility assets.

Value of Coins Falls Along with Trade Volume

The fall in value of AI-based cryptocurrencies is preceded by the loss of investor interest in them. Many of these tokens are, in fact, not linked to an Artificial Intelligence project that persuades investors to invest in them.

The latter is the key to the difference between these tokens and Nasdaq stocks, which are now experiencing strong bullish momentum. In any case, during the peak of the AI coins at the end of February, the trading volume of these marked a 24-hour high of $444.39 million dollars on the 27th of that month. In parallel, as already mentioned, the capitalization reached $4.03 billion.

Now, in both aspects they hit rock bottom. According to data from the analytics portal, Cryptoslate, the total AI tokens (currently 89) have an average valuation of $2.93 billion. Consequently, despite the fact that 15 new coins emerged in the last three months, in that same period, $1.1 billion evaporated.

An important fact that is noted about this new submarket is that it now occupies 0.26% of the entire crypto market. Three months earlier, at its peak, AI-based cryptocurrencies held 0.37%. Similarly, the top five tokens suffered losses without exception.

Over the last 7 days, the outlook has improved for these tokens, and the rally in the broad crypto market helps them. For example, INJ now boasts a weekly growth of +7.89%. Likewise, GRT has +5.72% in the same period. AGIX +13.22% and OCEAN +7.06% just to name a few.

Bitcoin BTC Price Surpasses $28K on Debt Ceiling Deal

0

Crypto and Asian stock markets opened strongly as the White House announced a deal to avert a debt ceiling disaster, with Bitcoin and Ether experiencing gains of 5% and 4.9%, respectively.

China didn’t say much new about World wide web3 in a paper it released over the weekend, but the report represented progress in a country that has narrowed its focus on cryptocurrencies.

Crypto is starting the Asian trading day well in the green after the White House announced that a deal was reached to avoid a debt ceiling disaster.

Bitcoin is starting the Asian trading day up 5% at $28,249, while ether is up 4.9% at $1,917. In common, the CoinDesk Market Index (CMI) is up 4% to 1209.

Bitcoin is still down 2.8% over the past month as the looming debt ceiling crisis weighed heavily on the asset class.

Joe DiPasquale, chief executive officer of crypto fund manager BitBull Capital, wrote in an email “Bitcoin found support at around USD 25 000 and consolidated for about two weeks before recovering today,” “Whether this move continues to $30,000 remains to be seen, but we expect the market leader to test that key resistance once again in the near term.” On the other hand, the range between $22K and $25K is acting as reliable support for the bulls.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told reporters over the weekend that there is still work to be done on the bill, anticipating completion by Sunday and a vote by Wednesday.

Meanwhile, President Biden said the agreement is “an important step forward” in a statement, calling it a compromise.

Asian stock markets are also opening strongly on the news. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 was up 2% in the first 30 minutes of trading, while Australia’s ASX 200 was up 1.18%.

China’s World-wide-web3 is not our World wide-web3

Over the weekend, officials from the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, which oversees the Zhongguancun Chaoyang Park, a group of China’s leading technology companies and academic institutions, released a white paper outlining suggestions for China’s world-wide-web3 policy.

On Crypto Twitter, this excited the usual crowd, prompted by a tweet from Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, who said the timing was “interesting” considering Hong Kong’s soon-to-be-enabled crypto regulatory framework on June 1.

But the reality is that this whitepaper is more of China’s existing blockchain-no-crypto policy.

Website3, in China, means an Internet enhanced by artificial intelligence, blockchain, faster computing chips, and more resilient networks.

The white paper is most interested in defining, and improving, the infrastructure layers behind the Web, which it identifies as the infrastructure layer, the interactive terminal layer, the platform tool layer, and the application layer, in a manner reminiscent of the open systems interconnection (OSI). ) Pink’s layered model, which has been the bible of purple topology since the 1980s.

And by no means is this a bad thing. It may be time for our understanding of a network layer to be updated to account for new technologies, and China is eager to write the next generation of technology standards to fight a U.S.-led Western technology trade bloc.

Gemini Strikes Back, Seeking Dismissal of SEC Lawsuit

The Gemini exchange has filed a motion to dismiss the SEC’s lawsuit against it, arguing that the SEC’s claim that it sold unregistered securities expands the regulator’s reach “beyond any reasonable reading” of the law. In response to the regulatory environment at home, the company is making a strategic turn toward European markets.

Gemini cryptocurrency exchange is seeking to have a lawsuit against it dismissed. In a filing with the New York court where it is being sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gemini has argued that the case against it is flawed and should be dismissed.

In January, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Gemini and Genesis alleging that the Gemini Earn program violated securities law. Genesis was Gemini’s partner in the scheme and has since filed for bankruptcy.

After its bankruptcy, Genesis halted Earn withdrawals in November 2022. Gemini then completely shut down the service in January. The two companies have since reached a $100 million settlement to recover user funds.

Doing what has become a familiar SEC line under Chairman Larry Gensler, the commission has cited the need to protect consumers in its case against Gemini and Genesis.

Arguing that Gemini and Genesis offered unregistered securities to the public, Gensler said that “crypto lending platforms and other intermediaries must abide by our time-tested securities laws.” He added that doing so better protects investors and builds confidence in the markets.

Gemini Says MDALA Is Not a Security

In Friday’s motion to dismiss the SEC’s lawsuit against it, Gemini argues against the regulator’s claim that the Earn scheme functioned as a security sale. The documents filed with the court claim that the SEC’s complaint is “a novel attempt to expand its scope beyond any reasonable reading of the relevant legal language.”

Ultimately, the issue boils down to exactly what kind of relationship existed between Gemini, Genesis, and individual Earn users.

This relationship realized as the Master Digital Asset Lending Agreement (MDALA), established the framework for Gemini Earn. Under the agreement, Genesis acted as a borrower, allowing users to earn interest by lending their crypto assets. Gemini itself acted as an intermediary and custodian.

However, Gemini argues that the MDALA itself never required any lending or borrowing. Instead, athletic contests claim that it is simply a mechanism that facilitates agreements between the borrower and the lenders.

If the court sides with Gemini, it will invalidate the SEC’s assertion that MDALA was sold as a security. As Gemini states in its appeal, the complaint against it: “never explains how, when, or where MDALA was allegedly sold.”

Gemini Turns Its Eyes to Europe as the Winklevoss Twins Settle in London

Against the backdrop of the SEC’s aggressive approach to digital assets, Gemini is reportedly considering relocating its operations offshore. The firm’s founders, Cameron, and Tyler Winklevoss, recently met with the UK’s financial regulator to discuss a possible relocation to London.

Such a move is not the only indicator that Gemini is pivoting away from the US, as on Thursday, the cryptocurrency exchange announced that it will open a new European headquarters in Dublin.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate the news, Cameron Winklevoss praised the European Union’s approach to regulating cryptocurrencies. Specifically, he called the Markets in Cryptoassets (MiCA) Regulation “common sense legislation.”
