Peter Brandt Believes Bitcoin Could Crash in Three Scenarios

Although this statement does not please the most bullish enthusiasts about this digital currency, the expert asks that unexpected scenarios not be ruled out. It should be noted that a few weeks ago, Brandt himself predicted a growth in the price of BTC to $200,000 per unit.

Veteran trader Peter Brandt not only has bullish sentiments for Bitcoin, but also suspicions about a possible collapse in the currency’s price. In that sense, he highlighted three scenarios that could lead to the largest virtual currency in preference losing its 2024 profits.

During a recent analysis on March 16, the trader shared his perspective on a possible correction that could be quite abrupt. He raised several negative scenarios for the price of the currency. The first of them would be a parabolic movement that would reconnect the 2022 lows with those of September 2023, which could take the value of the currency to 40K.

Brandt admits that he is not completely convinced of this first scenario, so he leaves it for debate and doubt among analysts. A point in the expert’s favor is that flows into Bitcoin ETFs marked a back-to-back for the first time since January. The latter refers to consecutive days of red numbers.

Brandt’s Two Other Hypothetical Negative Scenarios for Bitcoin

The crash that threatens Bitcoin, according to Peter Brandt, could have an unexpected origin in the charts. The second scenario that he points out in his analysis has to do with a correction of the upper limit of the Bitcoin channel. The latter, he explains, accelerated on February 24, 2024.

This second scenario would take the price of the token between the range of $55,000 to $60,000 per unit. The fact that the expert also expressed doubts about this possible second origin of a corrective downward trend of the most popular cryptocurrency stands out.

The third scenario for a negative BTC result is an upward chop with corrections of less than 15%. In simple terms, this pattern would bring the price to some volatility, but without reaching the point of allowing it to crash or skyrocket sharply. In that sense, each correction would take the price of BTC to the level of $63,000 per unit.

According to Peter Brandt, this third scenario could be the most likely. As already said, the trader’s analysis is from last Saturday and seems to be right in the third case. Having that scenario as his favorite is probably linked to the currency’s strong volatility for several days.

To this scheme it must be added that in less than a month the halving will occur, which will restart a new period of scarcity.

Peter Brandt’s Perspective on Bitcoin Correction

A couple of days ago, Brandt assured that the current drop in the price of Bitcoin is a necessary and healthy correction for the market. In his opinion, these corrections are a natural part of Bitcoin’s life cycle and are essential to maintain its long-term integrity.

Through his account on X (formerly Twitter), the analyst mentioned a potential scenario in which Bitcoin could retest $52,000. At the same time, Peter Brandt clarifies that, if Bitcoin recovers to levels of 69,000 dollars, this pattern would be invalidated and a fall in the 50,000 area should not be expected:

“Bitcoin $BTC completes the top of H&S [head and shoulders] on the Real Range Chart Factor. This chart eliminates highlights, which I think cause more confusion than clarity (although I respect those who think otherwise). Remember that some H&S overshoot and many, if not most, fail to generate suggested pricing behavior and fail or transform.”

Two Traders Lost More Than $1.3 Million Trading Slerf

One of the latest growth leaders in the meme cryptocurrency niche is the new Slerf coin (SLERF). Two traders lost a total of $1.3 million in a matter of hours when trading the meme token. Meanwhile, whales buy SLERF and pocket multi-million dollar profits.

It is clear that not the luckiest traders lost a total of 1.3 million dollars in a matter of hours. This is the fate that members of the crypto community suffered while trading the new meme cryptocurrency Slerf (SLERF)

New Solana-based meme cryptocurrency Slerf (SOL) didn’t debut on the most positive note, but this is what sparked a wave of excitement around the token. Whales are simply loving the token, but some traders are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars because of it.

Slerf (SLERF): The Best Strategy?

LookOnChain analysts drew attention to a trader who, as a result of several transactions, lost 775 thousand dollars in one hour. He first spent 5,004 SOL for 790,236 SLERF at a price of $1.32, which was the highest for the meme cryptocurrency. After this, the figure began to fall rapidly.

The negative dynamics did not stop the trader. When the Slerf’s value recovered, he spent another 2,500 SOL to buy 650,330 SLERF at a price of $0.8.

However, the price of the meme cryptocurrency collapsed again. Therefore, a member of the crypto community decided to sell all his tokens. In the end, he received only 3,774 SOL, losing a total of 3,731 SOL (775 thousand dollars).

A similar situation occurred with another trader. He lost 2,793 SOL, or $564,000, by purchasing SLERF tokens worth 4,958 SOL (around $1 million).

Whales Buying Slerf and Still Profitable

According to LookOnChain analysts, SLERF is popular among whales. For example, an address that had 158,786 SOL ($32 million) spent 3,024 SOL to purchase 1.7 million tokens from the Slerf project at a price of $0.35.

The whale had never bought other coins before, so the new meme cryptocurrency was his first addition. The day before, another whale wallet withdrew around 10,100 SOL from the Binance cryptocurrency exchange and spent almost all the funds on purchasing 2.39 million SLERF.

During a significant surge in the meme cryptocurrency price, a trader sold 1.43 million SLERF to recoup what he originally spent. As a result, the user’s net profit amounted to 961,165 SLERF, or $1.24 million.

Slerf (SLERF): Stupid Mistake or Fraud?

The launch of the SLERF token occurred in an unusual way. Before listing on major crypto exchanges, the developer accidentally burned all the project tokens he raised during the pre-sale. The total amount of funds lost was 10 million dollars.

Some members of the crypto community suggested that this move could be intentional. However, many trading platforms responded to the incident and offered their support to the project. Supporters included Tron creator Justin Sun and crypto platform Bitget.

However, in the first 24 hours the trading volume of the Slerf meme cryptocurrency project exceeded $3 billion, thanks to which the cryptocurrency became one of the 10 leaders in the sector in terms of capitalization, with an indicator of more than 400 million dollars.

According to CoinGecko, SLERF is trading at $0.8078. In the last 24 hours, the meme cryptocurrency has risen in price more than 70%.

US Court Sanctions SEC for Misconduct Against Debt Box

The United States District Court has imposed sanctions on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for what Judge Robert J. Shelby called “bad faith” in a legal case against Debt Box.

The SEC had initially filed a request to dismiss the case without prejudice, which was denied by Shelby. The judge criticized the regulatory agency for providing false information to the court regarding the evidence it had obtained to secure a temporary restraining order. As well as freezing Debt Box assets in August last year.

According to court documents dated March 18, Shelby declared that the SEC’s conduct represented a “gross abuse of power” conferred by Congress and that it undermined the integrity of the judicial process in question. The “critical evidence” presented by the SEC was revealed to be baseless and presented in a deliberately false and misleading manner.

The company attributed this growth to a “higher active hash rate.” Although he acknowledged that it was partially offset by the increase in network difficulty.

SEC Requests Budget Increase to Address Emerging Challenges, Including Cryptocurrency Market

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has submitted a request to Congress for an additional $158 million in funding in next year’s federal budget. Signs to Detect an Early Liquidation in the Crypto Market

Liquidations mark cryptocurrencies but, when you know how to read the indices well, it is easy to predict them. At the same time, on-chain data allows us to see things more clearly, while some notable events also play a role.

Liquidation is an old friend of the cryptocurrency market. Although it is annoying, it can be detected very easily to give you time to protect yourself.

In a bull market, sell-offs and other price declines are common. Although they are annoying at first, they are what allow cryptocurrencies to release the pressure and go higher and higher. Even better: several indicators allow you to detect it in advance and prepare with peace of mind.

A Few Very Simple Indicators Can Detect a Liquidation

Fear and greed index at an all-time high. The entire crypto sphere knows it: The Fear and Greed index is the true thermometer of the market. It indicates the purchase deadlines or, on the contrary, a possible flight of investors.

The RSI explodes. The relative strength index is an oscillator that allows you to see if a cryptocurrency is overbought or undervalued. If it is above 65-70, it means that a token is heavily accumulated and there are chances of its holders abandoning it in the coming days.

However, it is paramount to keep in mind that it is not enough to rely on this indicator to predict a liquidation. Divergences exist and it is possible for an asset to maintain a very high RSI for a long time before its price falls again.

Course analysis. A quick look at crypto analysts helps protect against a possible surprise crash. Therefore, consulting an index should always be accompanied by a study of the price of the cryptocurrency of interest, to find out possible danger zones, peaks and resistances to monitor.

Announcing difficult resistance, predicting a possible retest, tracking a divergence or a known bearish pattern can help investors to avoid surprises.

On-Chain Data to See Things More Clearly in the Crypto Market

Decrease in Operational Volumes. Are investors neglecting their favorite cryptocurrency despite a long period of growth? Trading volumes are a good indicator of trader sentiment. In fact, if these begin to run out, it may indicate that investors have lost confidence or interest in a token.

Whales in the Crypto Market. When a trend takes hold, whales are always the first to provoke or follow it. For this reason, large holders are always closely monitored, in particular to detect possible deposits on their part. When they transfer large amounts of tokens to a crypto platform, it may mean that they are preparing to sell.

Metrics like the whale exchange rate make this easier to see. As CryptoQuant points out, this measures inflows from large holders relative to total inflows. If it is between 85% and 90%, then there are chances of a liquidation in the next few hours.

Crypto Events Also Matter

In addition to small macroeconomic factors in the industry, various events can cause its liquidation. Among the most notable, we highlight the famous crypto vesting, during which millions of tokens are unlocked and are subject to the goodwill of their holders.

Litigation, the resale of assets after a bankruptcy or even the dreaded Fed meetings also contribute disadvantages to the market. To prepare well, follow the news closely!

The moral of the story is that the problem is not seeing big or small, but seeing a sale from afar.

Ripple vs SEC Update: A New Chapter in XRP Lawsuit with Joint Sealing Agreement

The proposal aims to ensure quick and brief access while allowing for necessary rewritings.

March 22 marks an important milestone in the SEC v. Ripple, as the SEC will file key initial briefs on Ripple’s proposed solutions. Defense attorney James K. Filan highlights upcoming deadlines, with Ripple’s opposition brief scheduled for April 22, followed by the SEC’s response on May 6.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, XRP trading volume increased, but overall, it is down 5.6% in the last 24 hours, reflecting the broader decline in the cryptocurrency market.

In the latest update, Filan shared a joint sealing proposal submitted by both parties to address sealing issues related to the upcoming solutions-related briefing.

According to the joint filing, the SEC and Ripple will now submit a joint proposal to the court on sealing issues for upcoming appeal-related briefs.

The Proposed Calendar

March 22, 2024: The SEC files its opening brief regarding sealed remedies. March 25, 2024: Parties meet to identify necessary redactions.

March 26, 2024: SEC files public, redacted brief version.

April 22, 2024: Ripple files a public, redacted version of its opposition brief unless it contains confidential information.

May 6, 2024: SEC files its sealed response brief.

May 8, 2024: The SEC files a public, redacted version of the response brief. In summary, based on the schedule, parties and third parties will have ample opportunities to file motions and propose rewritings.

Ultimately, public, written versions of all documents must be filed within 14 days of the court’s decision on sealing motions.

What’s Happened So Far

The SEC received an extension to analyze Ripple’s recent financial statements, delaying its initial brief filing on March 13. This delay allows the SEC to strengthen its case with updated financial data, which could argue for a significant penalty.

Ripple will have until April 22 to file its opposition brief, countering the SEC’s claims. The SEC will then have until May 6 to file a response brief, reiterating its stance on the alleged securities violations.

Market Response: XRP Price Movement

In response to market movements, XRP trading volume has increased by 138% amid the market decline, reaching $3.96 billion. Investors are speculating on the reasons behind the rise, while XRP’s golden cross pattern sparks optimism.

However, caution is advised as XRP price falls to $0.582 after hitting highs, down 4.59% in 24 hours. Investors remain on the lookout for potential weakness if the price falls below $0.57.

XPR Price Analysis

XRP price performance in 2024 stands at just 1.85% despite a prevailing bullish sentiment across the cryptocurrency market. For example, Bitcoin and Ether have gained 58% and 68.50% in the same period. Perhaps more surprising, the XRP/BTC pair has lost 88% over the past five years. Perhaps more astonishing, the speculation on several Ethereum spot ETF approval for May.

The performance of the last 24 hours indicated that XRP could have more strength to weather the turmoil that the market could bring. For example, XRP recorded a 2.64% decline, while Bitcoin price below $64,000 represented a 6.98% drop.

In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin dominance fell from 54.21% to 53.63%. If this ratio falls below the 50% average, then XRP could have a chance of outperforming the coin. Otherwise, the token could remain in BTC’s shadow.

Binance CEO Predicts Bitcoin to Surpass $80,000 Driven by ETF Inflows

Over the past five days, Bitcoin (BTC), the leading cryptocurrency, has experienced a period of increased volatility, prompting significant liquidations of leveraged positions as its price fluctuated wildly within hours.

After hitting an all-time high of $73,750 on Thursday, BTC saw a sharp drop to $64,600 on Sunday. On Monday, at the start of the trading week, the cryptocurrency reclaimed the $68,000 level. However, it retreated more than 2% shortly after, settling around the $66,800 mark.

Amid this turbulent market activity, Binance CEO Richard Teng, as reported by Bloomberg, believes that Bitcoin’s record rally will persist, driving its price past $80,000.

Binance CEO Optimistic About Bitcoin

Teng attributes this expected rise to the growing influx of institutional investment into the newly approved Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which have been trading for just over two months.

The introduction of Bitcoin ETFs in the United States earlier this year has attracted significant attention from institutional investors, leading to new inflows. Speaking at an event in Bangkok on Sunday, Teng stated that he originally estimated Bitcoin would be around $80,000 by the end of the year.

However, he now expects the cryptocurrency to surpass that milestone due to reduced supply and sustained demand. Teng emphasized that his forecast represents his point of view and acknowledged that the rebound will not be linear. He believes that the ups and downs of the market will ultimately benefit the entire ecosystem.

Lastly, Teng highlighted the continued inflow of funds into US Spot Bitcoin ETFs since their approval in January. He expects more institutions and family offices to increase their allocations to Bitcoin ETFs soon.

Richard Teng took over as CEO after Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) resigned in November following Binance’s $4.3 billion settlement with US authorities.

Digital Asset Inflows Soar

In a recent blog post, digital asset investment company CoinShares announced that digital asset investment products experienced a record weekly inflow, reaching $2.9 billion last week. This surpasses the all-time high of $2.7 billion set the previous week.

Additionally, these entries bring the year-to-date total to an impressive $13.2 billion, surpassing the total entries for all of 2021, which was $10.6 billion.

Trading volumes for the week totaled $43 billion, matching the previous week’s record and representing 47% of total global Bitcoin volume. During this period, global exchange-traded products (ETPs) crossed the $100 billion mark for the first time.

However, due to the price correction towards the end of the week, the total stood at $97 billion. Regionally, the United States witnessed substantial inflows of $2.95 billion, while smaller inflows were seen in Australia, Brazil and Hong Kong, worth $5 million, $24 million and $15 million respectively. By contrast, Canada, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland experienced combined outflows of $78 million during the same week.

On the other hand, so far this year there have been capital outflows worth 685 million dollars. Bitcoin dominated inflows last week, securing $2.86 billion and accounting for 97% of all inflows so far this year.

Interestingly, Bitcoin short positions recorded their largest inflows in a year, totaling $26 million, marking the fifth consecutive week of highest interest in this area.

At the end of the Coinbase Premium Gap positive streak, Bitcoin had been able to reach a new all-time high above $73,800, but as traders shifted to selling on the platform, the coin fell almost 9% and its price is now trading around $67,300.
