Salinas Pliego criticized the number of dollars that the United States is printing, so he continues to rely on Bitcoin as a refuge.

The Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego, owner of Banco Azteca and TV Azteca, among other companies, and the third richest man in Mexico, advised this week to acquire Bitcoin after he said that the United States of America increasingly resembles a country of the Third World.

According to the Forbes Billionaires List, Salinas’ net worth is currently $ 14.2 billion. So he is a man who knows about money.

It is worth noting that when he advised on Wednesday of this week, Bitcoin (BTC) had prices around USD 57,000 (by the way, much lower than its maximum price of USD 68,744, on November 10). Today, when it is 8:30 am in New York, the price is USD 54,067, 8% less than yesterday at the same time.

Now it is much lower for two fundamental causes: the announcements of a fierce new variant of Covid-19 and the arrival of Black Friday that has consumers like crazy buying things.

The call of Salinas

On Twitter, a medium through which he loves to express himself, the billionaire called on investors to “buy bitcoins right now.” He explained that the United States looks more like any other irresponsible third world country.

Salinas made a tweet of a weekly chart of the Federal Reserve’s total asset value, which got updated on November 18. It shows assets of more than $ 8.67 trillion.

Salinas Pliego is a Huge Bitcoin Fan

The Mexican billionaire has been a fan of Bitcoin for some time. He has said that 10% of its liquid portfolio was in Bitcoin. In February 2021, he added the hashtag #bitcoin to his Twitter bio, where he still appears with laser eyes, indicating his bullish projection.

Also, in June, he announced plans for his bank, Banco Azteca, to accept bitcoins. He tweeted recommendations about the use of bitcoins and stated that he is currently working to transform Banco Azteca into the first bank in Mexico to accept bitcoins. However, the Mexican government came up to the chairman and informed him that the banks did not have permission to accept digital currencies.

Salinas Pliego said that Bitcoin is the new gold and highlighted it is a much more portable asset. He also highlighted that transporting bitcoins is much easier than having gold bars in your pockets. He firmly believes that Bitcoin has a great future and will even change the world economy and financial infrastructures. After the tweet of November 24, he has not spoken about Bitcoin again, although he has written on other topics.
