On Wednesday, September 7, exclusive designs created by the princess of the United Arab Emirates, Shikha Fatima Al-Qas, will be auctioned.

For the month of September, Lefebre will offer NFT-backed jewelry pieces and Blockchain technology among its lots. This will be the first auction house in Colombia to include this type of lots.

The Colombian auction house Lefebre announced that for the month of September 2022 it will include NFT art within its lots to be auctioned. These are pieces of jewelry that have exclusive designs and were created by the princess of the United Arab Emirates, Shikha Fatima Al-Qas.

Emeralds to be auctioned

According to information reported by La República, the pieces of jewelry that will be auctioned will be delivered with their own Blockchain certificate, which offers the end customer information about the origin of the minerals, the artists involved in the creation process, and the authenticity of each piece.

Shikha Princess Fatima Al-Qas will be presently auctioning the limited editions of jewelry that were made with emeralds extracted from Colombia.

The designer, a member of the Ras al-Khaimah royal family of the United Arab Emirates, is accompanied by artists from the modern and contemporary art department such as Omar Rayo, Ana Mercedes Hoyos, Olga de Amaral, Carlos Rojas, Roberto Pizano, Miguel Ángel Rojas, Luis Caballero, Manuel Hernández, Hugo Zapata, Edgar Negret, Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, among others.

According to Catalina Martínez, director of Lefebre Auctions, these pieces are made with emeralds extracted from a mine in Boyacá with completely clean processes.

“[…] Through the Blockchain it is possible to create a direct bridge between art and technology, highlighting the artistic level that is evident in each jewel, turning its creations into a unique visual attraction with an exclusivity bonus backed by an NFT.”

As a fact to keep in mind, the jewels to be auctioned from Fatima’s collection will be the singular earrings with a starting value of 9 million pesos, and the matrix ring with a base value of 13 million pesos.

Details of the Jewels to be auctioned

  1. Singular Earrings: Exceptional and unique pair of earrings with a triangular design; Forged from five grams of 18K yellow gold with a frame made to house 70 natural Colombian emerald beads, without treatment and a total weight of 2 ct, originating from the Chivor mine.
  2. Matrix Ring: Particular ring with an asymmetric design that symbolizes the reflection of the water that has flowed for 16 million years through the hydrothermal veins, collecting the specific minerals that allow the crystallization that gives birth to the emerald; forged in a unique and disruptive metal alloy that highlights and embraces the authenticity of a native Colombian emerald matrix specimen from the Chivor mine, estimated to weigh 10 ct. without any treatment. The piece is carefully adorned with nine 2mm old cut diamonds weighing approximately 1ct in total.

Auction Days

Lefebre assured that the auction of the month will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the Lefebre Subastas headquarters in Bogotá. The pieces up for auction will be available for display until September 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.).

In addition to these NFT-certified jewelry pieces, the auction will feature the graphic participation of international artists such as Mondrian, Albers, Szyszlo, Dalí, Nierman, Soto, Rembrand, and a selection of Latin American religious paintings from different schools: Cuzqueña, Neogranadina, Virreinal.

In this auction pieces from four departments are presented: Jewelry, coins, and books; old paintings; Decorative arts and furniture; and modern and contemporary art. Mid-Century and antique furniture, beautiful lighting pieces, glassware, and tableware from England and Germany are found in the Decorative Arts and Furniture department.
