Musk Departs from Deal to Purchase Twitter, Suggesting a Possible Legal Battle

Elon Musk will step away from the $44 billion Twitter takeover deal. Musk has to teach that the termination comes on the back of a material breach by Twitter. Musk highlighted that Twitter could not provide enough information regarding spambots.

Twitter had clarified that the termination of the merger agreement arrived on the back of a material breach of various provisions of that agreement.

The representative highlighted that Musk pulled out because Twitter failed to bring enough information on the number of spam and fake accounts residing in its network.

The billionaire’s legal counsel also accused the site of making false and misleading representations and failing or refusing to give enough information as part of contractual obligations.

According to Musk, Twitter Ignored Requests

According to the complaint, sometimes Twitter ignored Mr. Musk’s requests, they got rejected for unjustified reasons, and sometimes it claimed to comply while giving Mr. Musk incomplete or unusable information.

The disagreement came to light when Musk pointed at Twitter due to an under-reporting of the prevalence of spam bots on site, especially when the entity highlighted that false or spam accounts were fewer than 5% of Twitter’s monetizable daily active users during the first part of the year.

Musk challenged the entity to retain its calculations, believing that the number of spambots on Twitter would be exponentially higher. That event led to the described conclusion.

The accusation expressed that Musk has enough reasons to believe that the amount of false or spam accounts on Twitter’s network is exponentially higher than the amount of less than 5% represented by Twitter in its SEC issuings.

On the other hand, Musk was also waiting for data about Twitter’s process for identifying and suspending spam and fake profiles and the financial condition of the network.

Musk Also Explained that Twitter Refused to Give the Requested Information for at Least Two Months

In this regard, Musk highlighted that this information arrived using limitations or other artificial formatting features. Meanwhile, he also stands against the hiring suspension and release of senior members from offices. He said that the company had not received parents’ consent for changes in the behavior of its business.

An Analyst Predicts the Recovery in the Price of Bitcoin for the Second Half of 2022

According to historical data, the price shows a behavior similar to the 2018 market crash. Many are afraid of the tightening policy of the Fed, but McGlone believes that interest rates will not rise further.

Commodity strategist Mike McGlone recently predicted a rise in the value of Bitcoin (BTC) for the second half of 2022. That suggests that the crypto asset will rebound after nearly eight months of declining prices.

McGlone shared his analysis with views on the market on his Twitter account. According to Bloomberg, a basket of the leading cryptocurrencies shows a behavior similar to the 2018 market crash.

In addition, the discount of Bitcoin to its 50 and 100-week moving averages is similar to previous foundations. Therefore, the risk versus reward tilts toward receptive investors in the second half of 2022.

The Price of Bitcoin May Rise Considerably in the Second Half

McGlone thinks Bitcoin is undergoing a cycle similar to the bursting of the Internet bubble in the early 2000s. He stated that overvalued projects with weak fundamentals must leave the crypto market before a significant long-term trend reversal occurs.

The commodity analyst believes that the price of Bitcoin has already bottomed out. He said a significant bullish movement would follow, as in the first half of 2019 after the 2018 market crash.

According to the expert, Bitcoin could be one of the biggest bullish markets at a low price to start the second half. He also warned that the cryptocurrency could fail to become redundant, like crude oil. However, he highlighted that the adoption of Bitcoin will likely continue to rise.

Mike McGlone Is Not Afraid of the Tightening Policy of the Fed

McGlone is skeptical that interest rates will continue to rise, while many are afraid of the tightening policy of the Fed. He thinks the American central bank may have to reverse the policy on interest rates and reduce rates again if stock markets struggle. He shared a chart showing the S&P 500 Index at a point where reversals have occurred historically.

He predicted that the Fed might need to meet to hold further meetings for a break in the shaken US stock market to occur.

The price of BTC remains well below the all-time high of USD 69,000 it reached on November 10th, 2021. Despite having a lengthier history than other cryptocurrencies, the volatility of the crypto asset remains very high while its price has barely held up. It has lost USD 45,000 over the last six months.

Bitcoin is trading at around USD 21,637 and has accumulated an 11.5% gain over the last week. While its trading volume is above USD 47.78 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 413.03 billion, according to CoinGecko.

How to Take Advantage of Investing Opportunities in a Bearish Market

Buying the dip and diversifying low-risk stocks can deliver substantial long-term returns in a bearish market. Investors must know the all-time high, behavior, and possible future characteristics of a cryptocurrency before buying it.

Optimism drives bullish markets, but the opposite is true of bearish markets, where the prices of stocks fall by 20% or more. The strength of the market helps the former, while economic stagnation and rising unemployment affect the latter.

A bearish market can result from various factors affecting the financial system. These include a weak or sluggish economy, collapsing market bubbles, pandemics, wars, geopolitical crises, and significant paradigm shifts.

The rise in the inflation rate in the US, the Ukrainian conflict, and the Fed increasing interest rates have also contributed to the bearish market. Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH), the two leading cryptocurrencies in the market, are currently amid a crash.

Investors usually look for bearish markets, characterized by a pessimistic mood and a weakened economic outlook.

The Characteristics of a 2022 Bearish Asset Market

A transition to higher interest rates and lower price-earnings multiples have primarily characterized the 2022 bearish market. In addition, there has been a growing expectation that a recession could reduce corporate profits.

If the entire market recovered, this price drop would offer investment opportunities periodically. It would be possible to buy the main assets of the market cheaply, with long-term earnings and cash flow forecasts.

The Way to Profit amid a Bearish Market

Investors can profit in both bearish and bullish markets in many ways. Combining and using the right investment tools are crucial factors.

Those who buy the dip in a bearish market seem to add to their short-term losses. However, if they do it effectively, they can generate substantial returns in the long run.

Those with investing experience and significant account balances may be more sensitive to taking risks. However, diversifying into low-risk stocks helps reduce losses in bearish markets and provides long-term returns.

How to Start Making Profits in a Bearish Market

It is crucial to look for trustworthy stocks because they tend to rally quickly and resume the bullish trend. In addition, it is essential to check bond ratings, as a high level indicates higher creditworthiness.

Investors should also diversify their portfolio, use margins carefully, and take advantage of call-and-put options.

As many factors affect cryptocurrencies, it is difficult to predict which of them will have a more promising future. However, investors can prepare before buying a particular token.

It is essential to research the crypto asset before buying it to know its all-time high, behavior, and possible future characteristics. Some verifications will allow investors to find the best-performing tokens that match their choices.

Bitcoin is trading at around USD 21,637 and has accumulated an 11.5% gain over the last week. While its trading volume is above USD 47.78 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 413.03 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Mt. Gox Announces It Will Pay the Victims of Its Collapse, Further Weakening the Market

The exchange published a compensation plan for its creditors, who must choose between cash, BTC, or BCH. Some analysts fear this situation will cause BTC to flood the market and the price to crash.

The bankruptcy trustee of the cryptocurrency exchange Mt. Gox stated that the victims of its collapse would get their funds back soon. That platform was once the largest worldwide but crashed in 2014 after losing around 850,000 BTC.

The creditors must register online and choose how they want to receive their funds. The options include payment in cash, Bitcoin (BTC) itself, or Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Many analysts fear that the price will drop even further if they opt for Bitcoin, as around 142,000 BTC would hit the market.

According to cryptocurrency investor Aaron Brown, some of the victims of the Mt. Gox collapse will get Bitcoin, which they could sell. He noted that this could drive prices down despite not being a significant fraction of the total trading volume of the cryptocurrency. That decrease might cause fear among other people and thus lead to a further fall.

The Attorney of Mt. Gox Sends a Letter to the Creditors

The creditors of Mt. Gox received correspondence from attorney Nobuaki Kobayashi, the trustee of the rehabilitation process. He confirmed that the exchange was preparing to pay the affected account holders.

The letter stated that the Rehabilitation Trustee would set the deadline for the Election and Registration with the permission of the Court.

Many creditors might exchange their BTC on the market for cash, directly or indirectly. The trustee would purportedly settle an equivalent amount of BTC to pay those who wish to receive fiat currency.

The Present Value of the Bitcoin Lost by Mt. Gox in 2014

The lost Bitcoin was worth about USD 500 million in 2014, but those 850,000 units are now worth more than USD 18 billion. The exchange has recovered some of the misplaced coins over the years.

Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb launched Mt. Gox in 2009 as a cryptocurrency trading platform. It became the largest in the world, liquidating 60% of global BTC sales in 2013, the year before it went bankrupt.

As the Price Falls, More Bitcoin Hits the Market

Several analysts and enthusiasts point out that the Mt. Gox plan comes at a complicated time for the market. The victims will be able to receive compensation seven years after the crash, but that could backfire on the price of Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin received by those compensated could hit the market during this bearish period. That would increase the supply, leading to a drop in the price of BTC, which would also affect the leading altcoins.

Despite the fear of the arrival of more Bitcoin on the market, several ruled out a detrimental effect when speaking of the rehabilitation plan. However, the price of BTC dropped by more than 60%, compared to the all-time highs of November 2021.

Bitcoin is trading at around USD 21,487 and has accumulated a USD 10.6% gain in the past week. While its trading volume is above USD 47.23 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 410.18 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Peter Wuille is about to Stop Being a Maintainer but will Continue to Develop the Currency

Peter Wuille has played a vital part in Bitcoin Core since May 2011. The other Bitcoin Core maintainers gave Wuille a lot of appreciation for his service.

Peter Wuille, one of the longest-standing and most prominent Bitcoin Core developers, revealed that he will no longer play the role of a maintainer of the code and will only work without having permission as an administrator.

Wuille revealed the news on Twitter and said he will no longer work as a maintainer of the Bitcoin codebase but will not stop working as an active contributor. His next contribution would include revisions. He said he would only stop doing maintenance, so it is time to cancel their permits.

Wuille asked to get his keys as maintainer of the Bitcoin code out of the platform. This request got approved by the rest of the developers, who appreciated all the goals achieved by this expert.

The team thanked him for being a Bitcoin Core maintainer since May 2011. Some maintainers expressed they have learned many things by reading his posts and will keep learning as long as he continues being an active contributor.

Peter Wuille comes from Belgium and has become quite popular because he became one of the most active developers of Bitcoin Core, with vast experience in this network. It was in 2011 when this expert presented his first Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) with a strong focus on private keys, making it easier for users to move between wallets with efficiency.

In addition, he was the creator of SegWit, which improves how the data gets registered in the blocks of the first Bitcoin chain. This procedure got enacted in August 2017, with the support of at least 99.95% of the Bitcoin network.

SegWit is a software update that has been in constant development for two years by the Bitcoin Core team. Its main goal focuses on security solutions that might serve to prevent transaction malleability attacks by a malicious third party.

SegWit went through an extensive path since its first appearance during the 2015-2017 block war. However, despite its relative achievement as a Bitcoin upgrade, digital asset exchanges, including Binance and Gemini, had shown a lack of commitment to using SegWit addresses to move Bitcoin.

In February of this year, a Glass node report stated that Binance had a slight SegWit adoption rate registered at just 10% through the end of 2021. However, it made a serious effort to manage the SegWit adoption near the end of 2021. Their adoption rate improved to at least 50%, contrasting with Coinbase and FTX.

The Prices of ASIC Devices Continue to Drop as Bitcoin Miners Sell their Coins

Colin Harper explained that Bitcoin is trading below the realized price and has sometimes dropped below miner production cost. He said that profitability is at rock bottom, so miners with too much debt or high operating costs are getting a jolt.

While many cryptocurrency companies go bankrupt, Bitcoin mining farms seem to be sinking increasingly fast. In mid-June, Compass Mining CEO Whit Gibbs and CFO Jodie Fisher abruptly resigned after facing accusations. The company reportedly failed to pay hundreds of thousands of US dollars in overdue electricity bills to facility provider Dynamics Mining.

According to Bloomberg, many industrial-sized Bitcoin miners have taken on significant debt by leveraging their equipment and BTC as collateral for loans. They have done this to acquire additional mining devices or expand the scope of their operations.

Data from Arcane Research indicates that miners owe around USD 4 billion in loans as Bitcoin is close to its 2017 all-time high. The tendency of miners to liquidate their BTC holdings at trading lows to cover capital and operating costs might increase.

Over the last month, Marathon Digital, Riot Blockchain, Core Scientific, and Bitfarms have sold between 1,000 and 3,000 BTC each to cover their debt.

Those problems also impact ASIC devices and their prices at leading mining hardware merchants. Popular top and mid-tier ASIC miners are trading at up to 70% below their all-time highs between USD 10,000 and USD 18,000.

Miners Sell More Bitcoin Than They Have Mined

According to Arcane Research, publicly-traded industrial miners now sell more Bitcoin than they mined in May. Therefore, some may reduce their footprint and downsize or close the business if they cannot cover their capital and operating debt.

Colin Harper, head of research at Luxor Technologies, explained how industrial miners see the current situation. He said that Bitcoin is trading below the realized price and has sometimes dropped below miner production cost.

The price has struggled to stay above the 2017 all-time high while the hash rate has fallen. Some analysts point to these too low metrics as a generational opportunity for buying.

Harper said he did not like telling people when to buy and noted he had never expected to see BTC at USD 17,000 again. He considers anything around or below USD 20,000 a good deal and is also preparing for lower prices.

As Miners Sell Their Holdings, Prices Could Fall

Some miners liquidate their stack, leveraged miners could go bankrupt, sub-optimal miners shut down their rigs, and ASICs are bargaining chips in a fire sale. The share price and cash flow of publicly-traded miners look terrible right now.

Harper explained that profitability is at rock bottom, so miners with too much debt or high operating costs are getting a jolt. He highlighted that the hash rate would grow more slowly than expected due to the crisis.

He also said that the prices of ASIC equipment would continue to drop, and many new miners would have to leave. However, miners with costs equal to or below USD 0.05/kWh are still mining with large profit margins.

In 2021, profitability reached multi-year highs, while interest rates remained low, and miners took on debt to finance hash rate expansions. Profitability has dropped to record lows, interest rates have risen, energy prices soar, and indicators point to a global recession.
