Cardano: Capable of the Worst at $0.20 and the Best at 20% Upsides

ADA suffers from the common evil that cryptocurrencies experience in a bear market, but there are those who still hope for an improvement in its evolution. All due to the hard fork or Vasil hard fork that is expected by the end of this month.

Launched on the Cardano testnet on July 3, the Vasil hard fork is taking shape, while its move to the mainnet is expected to take place, still with no fixed date at the end of this month of July or, as crypto pundits point out, it may even be pushed back to August.

Now therefore completed on the Cardano testnet, Vasil is very significant for ADA, especially as it will raise performance standards. For now, project developers are encouraged to kick off their work on the testnet to ensure that there are no issues when deploying to the mainnet.

When it does, it will enable faster block creation and greater scalability for DApps, the decentralized ones running on Cardano, just as IOHK, the organization that produces Cardano, has promised. Other benefits go through the greater efficiency in your scripts and, above all, because it will help to reduce costs to a greater extent.

ADA Evolution in the Market

As for its evolution as a currency in the market, ADA continues to be immersed, like the rest of the cryptocurrencies, in great volatility and significant declines so far this year. In the last five sessions, it barely cut 0.56%, the monthly losses are large and reach 21.22%, in the three preceding months it yields 51.68% of its price, while in the semester the cut reaches 62.6%. So far this year, the fall is 65.2%.

In addition, the so-called sharks that own between 10,000 and 100,000 Cardanos have added the figure of 79.1 billion tokens, at the exchange rate in dollars of about 37.7 million, to their existing reserves in the last month, according to the data that Santiment implements and collects. An accumulation that is undoubtedly taking place due to the fall in the cost of ADA in the market, since it is trading at 88% of its historical maximum, which was registered last September, at 3.16 dollars per asset.

Such accumulation is not only produced as a mere business, but also as power. And the reason is that, the stronger they are, the more likely they are to mark the next trends of the token, in the face of conflicts such as the increase in volatility that occurs in the market, and even if liquidity is reduced.

This also indicates that they expect a revival of its price, despite the fact that experts expect the downward trend to continue. From Wallet Investor, they consider that the erratic movements in Cardano will continue to occur, and they expect a sharp drop to less than half of its current price, at the end of the year, to recover in 2023.

An Expert Predicts

Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe sees a change from resistance to support in the region of $0.46 per asset. He highlights that, if it exceeds the level of 0.47 dollars, its price could accelerate to 0.55 dollars as a new region to take into account. The break of its immediate resistance, according to van de Poppe, would be very favorable for ADA in the market.

While the Bitcoin Price Drops, Its Management Ignores Its Virtues in Hard Times

Since ancient times, all monetary systems have failed and caused many social disasters. However, financial analyst Steve Dubied says BTC is different and could save humanity.

After inflation hit the headlines, the price of the pioneering cryptocurrency kept dropping. Its supporters have touted Bitcoin (BTC) as an ideal hedge against inflation for over ten years. The financial press seldom mentions that subject, leading to wonder whether BTC has lost its virtues.

Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin to offer users a decentralized currency that no government institution could manipulate. From a maximum of 21 million units, 19 million are already in circulation, while over 3 million will remain lost forever. In addition, the issuance of the other 2 million coins will go to future generations.

The technology of Bitcoin allows transmitting it between peers instantly and securely. The costs of fees are the lowest, and no third parties have the right to judge the transactions. Unlike fiat currencies, whose refinancing through bond markets accumulates expenses, BTC has no debts.

The Bitcoin network has strengthened because it relies on its Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus, which has not stopped growing since its launch. It consumes negligible amounts of energy (0.16%), primarily using renewable energy for its operation.

Its scarcity and reliability make Bitcoin the ideal store of value thanks to its decentralization and instant exchange.

Humanity has looked for this value preservation for thousands of years. Since ancient times, all monetary systems have failed and caused many social disasters, of which the current inflation is just one episode.

Despite Its Dropping Price, Bitcoin Has Many Virtues

Over the last few years, BTC has become a technological tool as fiat currencies have significantly depreciated. It even compares to a Nasdaq-listed company since it does not make profits and suffers punishment for rising interest rates.

Even though Bitcoin has dropped as low as Netflix, the comparison is meaningless. The current management of BTC is absurd and ignores all its virtues in hard times.

The US inflation rate went from 0.12% to 8.58% over the last two years. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve (Fed) funds rate increased from 0.25% to 1.75% during that period.

In addition, the real interest rate in the US dropped from +0.12% to -6.30%.

The US real interest rate has fallen by 0.3% since Bitcoin reached its all-time high in November 2021. Meanwhile, the price of the cryptocurrency has dropped by 69%. However, it is the first time its features and logic have been so significant and well-founded.

Growing numbers of long-term holders wait to hoard Bitcoin as mass adoption increases. Over time, the reason for the creation of the cryptocurrency and its financial merits will become evident.

Steve Dubied is a financial analyst whose company CONSULFIN SA is in Switzerland. He worked as a risk and portfolio manager for institutions and hedge funds between 2005 and 2015. Cryptocurrencies have interested him since 2017, as they provide a technological advance that seeks to solve the growing global monetary drift.

Ethereum Performance in Q2 2022

At the end of the second quarter of 2022, evaluating the performance of Ethereum during these last three months can be helpful in forecasting the near future of the cryptocurrency.

After the end of the second quarter of 2022, with a general downward trend in the cryptocurrency market, it is time to evaluate the performance of Ethereum to forecast the near future. Based on four main categories according to Abiodun Oladokun at Ambcrypto: Protocol, Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT), and Layer 2.

In its new report titled “State of Ethereum Report – Q2, 2022”, Bankless reviewed the performance of the Ethereum network and its ecosystem in the second quarter of 2022.

Bankless: Report Findings

Bankless found that, as a result of the general crypto market downturn between April and June, transaction fees paid to use the Ethereum network saw a 33.4% decrease: from $1.91 billion in Q1 to $1.28 billion in Q2.

In addition to fueling a drop in network revenue, last quarter’s bearish backdrop caused the average daily active address rate to drop by 20.6%. In the first quarter, it stood at 593,404.

However, the third quarter so far has been marked by an upward correction. Therefore, an increase in daily active addresses on the Ethereum network could be recorded at the end of the quarter.

With the planned transition of the Ethereum network from Proof-of-Work (PoW) to Proof-of-Stake (PoS), Bankless found that the amount of ETH staked on Beacon Chain grew by 116%, from $6.01 million in Q1 to $12.98 million dollars last quarter.

Around 0.86% of the total ETH supply was staked at the end of Q2. On July 6, the network successfully completed its merger into the Sepolia testnet. With the merger with the Goerli Network expected in the coming weeks, the final merger with the Ethereum mainnet is expected before the end of the year.

What happened to DeFi?

Bankless found that the second quarter of the year was marked by a decline in the total value locked (TVL) of DeFi protocols hosted on the Ethereum network.

Within that period, TVL fell from $59.42 billion in the first quarter, to $34.21 billion in the second quarter; in other words, it was a 42.4% decline.

Total trading volume on decentralized spot exchanges created on the Ethereum network also saw a decline in the second quarter. Between April and June, it fell 9.0%, from $350.54 billion in the first quarter to $319.13 billion at the end of June.

Finally, Bankless pointed out that in the last quarter there was an increase of 177.5% in the stake of ETH staked with non-custodial protocols that issued liquid stake derivatives.

It is worth noting that Ethereum is currently trading at $1,145 and that the location of the moving averages, the 70-period moving average below the 200-period moving average, would give us a bearish signal.

Analysts Predicting Further Capitulation Said Bitcoin Investors Are Still in Danger

Experts and market signals said Bitcoin prices have yet to reach the bottom one more time. Bitcoin miners remain selling, though at a slower rate. Macroeconomic headwinds could catalyze the final flush out.

Bitcoin prices returned to a figure below $20,000 as capitulation keeps happening, but the current market bottom of this bear period seems to be months away.

Bitcoin did not keep its position at the $20,000 level following its weekend rally and has crumbled back 3% on the day. There are not enough purchasers to keep the pressure, and even the longer-term holders have been selling at a lower rate.

According to a weekly on-chain report led by Glassnode, capitulation is still ongoing as extreme financial pressure got established in the market. It also said that this situation might be a mixture of time pain in terms of duration and further disadvantages before markets set up a flexible bottom.

The expert who led the research said that Bitcoin investors are still in danger and must take action to protect themselves from this situation.

Bitcoin Bottom Signals

This situation is extraordinary, even for professional traders, because it is difficult to determine the market bottom. Getting close is the only thing that could get done to determine a long position considering that BTC dropped by more than 71% from its all-time high peak.

Glassnode also expressed that miners have been selling for the past couple of months. However, the miner capitulation continued for at least four months and the previous bear market. So the discharges would remain happening into Q3.

On the other hand, the diminishing during the 2018/19 bear market kept happening for at least 15 months and ended up in an 84% decline in BTC prices. A similar panorama in this cycle could present Bitcoin bottom at around $12K to $13K, and markets remain at that compass until Q1, 2023.

The analysis finally said that an extended stage of financial pain results in decreased demand generating conditions for the last capitulation and bottom discovery.

Motivations Behind a Capitulation

Another avalanche of negative macroeconomic news this month could unleash a disaster for crypto markets, leading to a total fall.

On July 13, the June consumer price index (CPI) or inflation figures will get launched by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and they got predicted to be worse than in May, at 8.7%.

The Federal Reserve might elevate the interest rates again later this month, which seems inadequate for high-risk currencies such as crypto.

Macro markets expert Lyn Alden believes the Fed would not have enough capacity to strengthen its efforts in 2023, which means a short-term acceleration until inflation gets slower. This action could result in a harmful period for markets, but the bottom is far from happening, potentially leading to a new set of prices and new hopes of a crypto spring next year.

Alden describes the world economy as a time bomb in the third act of a long-term economic period that’s already been in play for too long.

Traditional Credit Card Holders Are Increasingly Moving into Crypto Credit Cards, According to a Survey

The researchers say it is hard to believe that consumers prefer a cryptocurrency like BTC or ETH to the US dollar. Forty-six percent of the credit card holders surveyed aim to use their crypto credit cards to make daily purchases.

New York-based company CouponFollow surveyed 1,016 credit card holders about credit card rewards. The consultation showed that they are abandoning traditional credit cards in favor of credit cards with crypto rewards.

Forty-six percent of crypto credit card holders aim to make purchases with their crypto credit cards daily. In addition, 80% of the respondents believe that Bitcoin will replace traditional credit cards.

Most Consumers Prefer Crypto Credit Card Rewards in Bitcoin

The researchers that conducted the survey find it hard to believe that consumers would prefer a currency other than the US dollar. The most sought-after cryptocurrency prize coins among the respondents in the study were Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC). That is easy to understand as they are among the most valuable crypto assets.

Many would also accept varying types of crypto rewards from their credit card companies as the digital currency space expands. They include non-fungible tokens (NFTs), crypto assets on a blockchain with unique identification codes, and distinguishable metadata. Ninety-five percent of the crypto credit card holders participating in the study would like to receive NFTs as a reward.

The survey reveals that most of the best crypto rewards credit cards provide digital cashback when dining out, shopping, or buying concert tickets. The most popular crypto credit card among the Americans interviewed are those offering various types of cryptocurrency rewards. Those cards allowing users to earn up to 5% in crypto rewards came in second place.

A Popular Idea among Crypto Credit Card Holders

The idea of moving into a crypto reward card is popular among the credit card holders surveyed. Forty-six percent of the respondents plan to make all purchases with their crypto credit card. Therefore, it is good that many of those users plan to spend their crypto rewards wisely. Sixty percent of the respondents aim to reinvest their crypto rewards balance in cryptocurrencies.

Crypto credit card holders suffer from drawbacks, as they may have to pay higher fees and interests than paying with regular cards. Therefore, they should research before choosing that kind of payment tool.

Cryptocurrency holders increasingly require payment tools to access their funds and spend them. Those investors traditionally chose to buy more coins, keep their holding in the long term, or do speculative trading.

Users can make purchases with crypto rewards cards, like with any traditional credit card. Besides, each time they use them, they may receive rewards in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin is trading at around USD 19.8350 and has accumulated a 4.8% loss over the last 24 hours. While its daily trading volume is above USD 21.48 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 378.69 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Venezuelan Authorities Captured Cyber Criminals Who Extracted Digital Assets from PDVSA Retirees

According to reports highlighted by the CICPC, the criminals entered the profiles of PDVSA retirees on the Patria network and extracted their digital assets. Later they proceeded to exchange the stolen funds for bolivars.

The Corps of Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations of Venezuela, better known as CICPC, highlighted this week that it caught the members of a criminal organization carrying out illegal activities regarding digital assets in Maturín. This gang dedicated efforts to target retirees to steal their digital assets through the Patria network.

CICPC Get their Hands Over This Cryptocurrency Thieves

This information got revealed by the national director of the CICPC, Douglas Rico, who highlighted the news through his official Instagram account. There he expressed that they caught three members of the criminal group known as Los Crackers de Oriente.

These criminals used to rob retirees of the state-owned entity Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) by disrupting and entering their accounts on the network, extracting the funds from the victim.

The investigations started right after one of the victims confirmed to the authorities that the crypto funds kept in his profile on the Patria network had suddenly vanished.

The victim came to know what had happened and issued a legal complaint to the authorities, so the case got studied by a commission from the CICPC Computer Crimes Division.

The investigation led by the authorities highlighted that the criminals acquired the private keys of the victims, disrupted their accounts on the Patria network, and proceeded to extract the digital assets.

The director of the CICPC expressed that the thieves exchanged said currencies for the local coin, for which they opened bank accounts falsifying the documents and proceeded to migrate the funds to their accounts.

Venezuela and Cryptocurrency Scams

As digital assets acquire more fame in a country such as Venezuela, scams, and cybercrimes intending to extract funds from victims are on the rise, encouraging official authorities to keep raising red flags and warnings about the modus operandi used by these fraudsters.

At the end of April, the CICPC highlighted various messages that were going viral through WhatsApp, in which data and links got spread to defraud citizens through phishing-type campaigns.

In these cases, scammers send emails and messages out of private fear to potential victims, playing the role of false customer service of some service they use (these criminals tend to focus on Crypto Exchanges, administrative entities, or even banks.)

These criminals later indicated that the victims’ profiles got disrupted and executed specific campaigns with the sole intention of extracting access or personal data to break the accounts and empty the funds kept in those profiles.

Regarding the Patria network, the CICPC and SUNACRIP have previously warned about the proliferation of scams to extract funds from potential victims.

These warnings especially point at those criminals that go through the role of managers who offer to do the whole process. These false managers convince the victims to give them personal data so they can find a breach in the victims’ accounts.
