Twitter User Accuses Kwon and a Journalist of Continuing the Terra Scam

According to Coinage Media, the CEO of Theranos presumably knew her technology did not work but decided to promote a fraud. Fatman suggested an interview with someone more neutral and respectable, commenting that this reporter has constantly defrauded Kwon.

While Do Kwon had an interview with an unknown reporter, Twitter user Fatman accused them of continuing the Terra scam.

Coinage Media talked to Do Kwon after the Terra Luna collapse, when the latter said that LUNA could not remain stable. The cryptocurrency developer said that it must be a fraud and a scam, given that cryptocurrencies are still in the Wild West.

Zack Guzmán, the co-founder of Coinage Media, asked him if he cringed at his earlier comments. Kwon replied that he did but that the algorithmic stablecoin started to become the industry standard, which led him to lose much.

Do Kwon Defends Himself against the Accusations

The interviewer asked Kwon to defend himself against accusations of fraud. A Twitter user failed to connect their wallets to download a free NFT necessary to access the whole conversation.

Coinage Media pointed out that Elizabeth Holmes, the CEO of Theranos, knew that her technology did not work. She became famous for promoting a machine that the company claimed could identify various ailments through a drop of blood. However, the technology was an illusion, just like what happened with Kwon, who also faces accusations of fraud.

The extensive consequences of the collapse of the Terra ecosystem have caused investors to lose much money. Korean prosecutors recently raided the home of Daniel Shin, the co-founder of Terra, although he had moved away from Do Kwon.

Twitter User Fatman Enters the Scene

Twitter personality Fatman recently claimed he was an insider on the Terra project. During and after the collapse of the Terra ecosystem, he allegedly leaked many internal documents.

Concerning the interview with Kwon, he suggested an interview with someone more neutral and respectable, like Bloomberg or Fortune. He commented that this reporter has constantly defrauded Kwon as if someone were paying him. Besides, he asked whether he would address the billions he took from the system.

Guzmán told Fatman he was a Terra user like him, expressing suspicion about him pretending not to know about this. He said that he had covered Terra regardless that it would be a success or a failure.

Fatman stressed that Guzmán had not contacted him for any documentary or interview. The former asked the co-founder of Coinage Media if he was in Singapore to meet him. However, Guzmán answered that he was living in the UK and reiterated that it was suspicious that he could lie about that.

In addition, Fatman said that he did not believe Guzmán had covered Terra but had looked down on it and Kwon for a long time. He commented that the journalist had ignored its weaknesses and acted sycophantically when convenient.

The Twitter user told Guzmán that any reporter would agree that he was not neutral enough. That indicates that the drama about the drop of Terra Luna will continue on the popular social network.

SHIB Enters the Bullish Cycle and Might Rise to USD 2,000

The four-hour chart shows that the SHIB price rose to USD 0.000018, successfully exceeding significant resistance at USD 0.000013. David Gokhshtein recently predicted that Shiba Inu might continue increasing and that anyone would think it is preparing for another stage.

Shiba Inu (SHIB), the second-largest meme coin behind Dogecoin (DOGE), occupies 12th place in the cryptocurrency ranking. Its price has increased thanks to the support from its investors on social media over the weekend.

The crypto asset has risen by 153% from its low this year to its current high. The token recently pulled back as the rest of the market plummeted. While Ether (ETH) dropped to USD 1,950, Bitcoin (BTC) fell to USD 24,100. The overall market capitalization of cryptocurrencies declined to USD 1.2 trillion.

Shiba Inu May Have Begun the Bullish Cycle

Peter Brandt was the first trader and analyst to predict the dramatic move of Shiba Inu. He noted on TradingView that SHIB created a bottom pattern on the daily chart before rising by 25%.

The expert said that Shiba Inu had started a bullish cycle and would continue increasing. He bases that prediction on the completed inverted head-and-shoulder model, which indicates a reversal.

The 25% surge shows the advantage of investors willing to back the rally of the token rally if a successful breakout occurs. According to Brandt, SHIB has bottomed out and has only one way to move upward.

The four-hour chart shows that the SHIB price rose parabolically, reaching a peak of USD 0.000018, its highest level since May. The meme coin successfully exceeded significant resistance at USD 0.000013, its highest point on July 20th.

The Future Behavior of the Shiba Inu Price

SHIB is one of the most popular crypto assets in the market. Over the last few days, its price experienced a significant rise of more than 30%, a trend that might continue.

Well-known personality David Gokhshtein recently posted on his Twitter account that the SHIB price could continue increasing.

Gokhshtein, the founder of Gokhshtein Media and a former US Congress candidate, said that anyone watching SHIB would think it is preparing for another stage.

Shiba Inu recently drew the attention of whales, investors, and analysts. The transactions over USD 100,000 have increased significantly over the last 24 hours.

Besides, the activity about the behavior of Shiba Inu has increased significantly on social media. The dog-themed cryptocurrency SHIB struggled to protect its earnings, going from USD 0.000013 to USD 0.000018.

SHIB is trading at around USD 0.000016 and has accumulated a 31.8% gain over the last week. While its daily trading volume is above USD 1.17 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 9.54 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is attempting to hold the critical USD 24,000 level. The pioneering cryptocurrency is trading at around USD 24,100 and has accumulated a 1.2% gain over the last week.

Cryptocurrencies: Regarding the Recent AFIP Opinion 2/2022

The Argentine National Treasury has just issued its opinion on this type of financial assets and their treatment as taxed in the Tax on Personal Assets, which has caused conflicting criteria in the doctrine.

The OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) published in 2020 a work entitled “Taxes on virtual currencies. An overview of tax treatments and emerging tax policy issues”. It arose as a result of the claim made by the leaders of the G20 and the finance ministers about the risks derived from crypto assets.

The report provides a reference framework for their taxability in Income, Value Added and Property taxes. The operations included also imply their creation, storage and transfer, as well as their change and evolution.

Regarding wealth taxes, Alfredo Collosa, consultant (IMF, IATTC, TIWB), mentions the countries that charge inheritance taxes, such as Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Korea, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. Among those that have issued guidance covering the application of these taxes to virtual currencies are: the United Kingdom, Korea and Finland.

Cryptocurrencies are also included as assets within the definition of wealth taxes, in the few countries where such taxes exist. This is the case of Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Spain and Switzerland. Also in Australia, Germany and Japan they have advanced with the taxability of these assets as well as Chile in Latin America.

Argentina and Personal Assets

As a result of the publication of AFIP Opinion 2/2022, criticism has arisen in the doctrine in relation to the definition to which the Treasury arrives in relation to cryptocurrencies, which is reproduced in the summary as follows:

“Cryptocurrencies can be characterized as a new class of financial asset, non-traditional and based on Blockchain technology, which is ultimately about an electronic entry that incorporates the right to a certain amount of money, which can be typified as securities, since they participate in the main characteristics of the latter. They are homogeneous and fungible goods in the terms of article 232 of the Civil and Commercial Code; its issuance or grouping is carried out in series and they may be susceptible to widespread and impersonal trading in the financial markets. Cryptocurrencies make up an asset covered by the Personal Assets Tax Law.”

Taxable Assets

There is no doubt that crypto assets are subject to the tax in question, since they are financial assets that have payment and cancellation capacity, listed price, transaction value, which serve as a savings unit and have their own unit of measure.

Cryptocurrencies are assets subject to the Personal Property Tax, and must be valued at their listed value as of December 31 of each year. They do not fit as intangible assets of those exempted by law, since they do not have the aforementioned characteristics.

Country or Foreign Goods

Cryptocurrencies will be considered as taxable assets of the country, if they were generated in the same by companies incorporated in it, or because they are found in country platform accounts or because they are found as of December 31 in virtual wallets of the same. On the contrary, holdings of cryptocurrencies on Exchange platforms, or in foreign virtual wallets, will be considered foreign assets.

Beyond some doubts that marks the doctrine on the definition of cryptoactives that arise from the analyzed opinion, in short, it is an asset in permanent development and a highly complex analysis. The Treasury states their status as taxable, providing greater certainty on the subject.

Regulatory Repression Leads Investors to Use USD 1.6 Billion in USDC to Buy USDT

Gabor Gurbacs, the strategic adviser to VanEck, said leading players and institutions might feel secure moving their money outside the US. Iakov Levin, the CEO of Midas Investments, stated the case of Tornado Cash shows that no one is immune from the influence of regulators.

Investors have moved around USD 1.6 billion worth of USDC to compete with USDT amid regulatory repression against crypto firms.

When USDC issuers Circle froze 75,000 USDC after August 1st, a significant amount went into USDT. Those funds belong to users of Tornado Cash, the cryptocurrency mixer the US government sanctioned for allegedly laundering money.

Although Circle said it froze that money to comply with US sanctions law, the decision drew criticism among crypto fundamentalists. These expressed concern that corporate intrusion might erode the cryptocurrency ethos of privacy and decentralization.

Those Investing in USDC Flee to USDT

The overall market capitalization of the Tether stablecoin USDT rose by about USD 1 billion to USD 67.43 billion. That happened within the five days after Circle froze the wallet addresses related to Tornado Cash.

The data shows that the market capitalization of USDC rose by over USD 500 million during that period. That suggests that the outstanding balance in transfers to USDT may have another origin.

Over the last month, the market capitalization of USDC has dropped by 2.3% (USD 1.3 billion) to USD 53.5 billion. In contrast, it rose by 2.4% (USD 1.57 billion) during the same period.

According to Gabor Gurbacs, strategic adviser to asset manager VanEck, leading players and institutions might feel secure with their money outside the US. That is especially true after the recent regulatory repression against crypto companies and tokens.

Regulators have often accused Hong Kong-based Tether of a lack of transparency in holdings to support its USDT stablecoin. Meanwhile, Center, the US consortium behind USDC, has received criticism for contacting government authorities.

After launching USDC in September 2018, Center has banned 81 wallet addresses in compliance with US government sanctions against cryptocurrencies.

Tether ran into trouble when investors withdrew around USD 7 billion within days of the Terra crash.

The Crypto Market Needs Truly Decentralized Stablecoins

Ego Huang, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange DeepCoin, recently said the close dependence on the US government regulatory regime hampers USDC.

That makes it an easy prey of US regulators, as investors are not sentimental about any stablecoin issuer. They only seek to secure their funds and avoid the intervention of centralized authorities.

In addition, Huang said the lack of defined regulation has been complicated, regardless of how Circle turns the tables to prevent a cash outflow. Therefore, investors will still need insurance or a safety net, which they think they can find in USDT.

Jeremy Allaire, the CEO of Circle, promised to commit to addressing the privacy concerns plaguing the company.

The executive said that the regulatory intervention of Tornado Cash was full of flaws. Allaire stated that he would intensify the compliance with the policies to protect user privacy by following basic cryptocurrency principles.

Iakov Levin, the CEO of crypto investment platform Midas Investments, said the case of Tornado Cash shows that no one is immune from regulations.

The founder of Midas Investment explained that any protocol might find itself in the place of Tornado Cash. He considers that US regulators will do anything to interfere with any part of the developing decentralized economy.

Payment to Companies like Naturgy with ‘Cryptos’ “will be imposed in (the Spanish) Society”

The gas company allows to face electricity and gas with cryptos through EurocoinPay.

In mid-June, Naturgy became a pioneer in Spain by allowing the payment of electricity and gas in cryptocurrencies. Through an agreement with EurocoinPay, a company that offers immediate payment systems with digital currencies, customers of the gas company’s services have the option of paying their bills with Bitcoins, Ethereums or any other central bank digital currency or stable currency. A means of payment that is “simple, safe, instant and transparent”, assures ‘Bolsamanía’ Herminio Fernández, CEO of EurocoinPay.

How Crypto Payment Works

Naturgy has implemented the EurocoinPay Virtual POS in its payment options, which gives its customers the option of paying their bills with cryptocurrencies within their customer area. The subscriber, for his part, has the option to pay with the cryptocurrency he wishes and the company, or any other business that implements this service, receive said payment in any ‘crypto’ or in legal tender (fiduciary).

As for possible commissions, the manager of the cryptographic payment company clarifies that the client is exempt from these charges in each of the movements made. Likewise, you can follow the trail of each transaction made with cryptocurrencies, since it is registered in the private EurocoinPay Blockchain and in the public Tangle IOTA network; being like an immutable daily accounting book.

Of course, Fernández points out that “the payment with cryptocurrencies does not vary from another payment made in cash, credit card or transfer, it is counted as an expense, and as such it must be declared to the Treasury.” As a company that charges with cryptocurrencies but receives its payments in euros, in the face of the Tax Agency, “it is the same as charging your sales with any other form of payment,” he continues. “If you receive payments in cryptocurrencies, you must declare these as assets and if you sell them and obtain profits, you must declare these profits as such,” he clarifies.

Given the doubts that the amounts received by the company may be affected by the volatility of the prices of Bitcoin and other cryptoactives, the person in charge of EuroCoinpay clarifies that “companies that use our POS terminal and that receive payments with cryptocurrencies, do not see affected by volatility, since the operation is carried out instantly. If your company decides to receive euros, if you sell a product worth 20 euros, you always receive 20”. However, he points out that if you decide to receive Bitcoins, you do participate in the volatility of the asset. “Also, companies have the option to use stablecoins if they wish, although it does not always have to be the best course of action.”

Future of Payments with Crypto Assets

Fernández maintains that “the use of cryptocurrencies must be implemented gradually; innovation and technology must be implanted in the daily life of Spanish payments”. EurocoinPay has a POS that can be applied to both physical and online stores.

“Furthermore, our POS has been selected twice by the Bank of Spain Sandbox for its disruption and innovation”, he highlights.

EurocoinPay is a Service Provider for exchanging virtual currency for fiduciary currency and custodian of electronic wallets. “And these are the levers of trust that should encourage businesses and companies to integrate these payment methods to expand their sales channels and reach more than 6 million cryptocurrency users in Spain and 300 million worldwide” , concludes the CEO of the crypto payment company.
