British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Victory Was a Victory for Cryptocurrencies

As the youngest Prime Minister to take office in the UK in over 200 years, he is a crypto enthusiast.

A former investment banker turned politician, Rishi Sunak has had an incredibly prolific career in a short period of time. At just 42 years old, he has served as a UK Member of Parliament, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, and Chancellor of the Exchequer, and now begins his term as Prime Minister.

As the youngest prime minister to take office in the UK in over 200 years, Sunak has something else in common with his fellow Millennials: he’s a crypto enthusiast.

In fact, as a recent Bank of America survey found, ā€œyoung investors choose to allocate significantly more of their cryptocurrency portfoliosā€ than their older counterparts. Additionally, those in the 21-42 age bracket are ā€œmost likely to believe that cryptocurrencies offer the greatest growth opportunitiesā€ and allocate an average of 15% of their portfolios to cryptocurrency investments, compared to 2% invested by crypto investors over 42 years old.

The difference is that Sunak keeps his fondness for crypto to himself; furthermore, it is capable of advancing the industry in entirely new and exciting ways. It can propose laws, issue regulations, and promote new ideas.

Sunak may pave the way for the migration from Web2 to Web3, which will draw heavily on technologies such as cryptocurrencies, but will also include non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the advent of the metaverse, among others, and potentially create a Web3 Hub outside the UK in no time.

Sunak’s Viewpoints

What was expressed above is not pure speculation, Sunak himself said it, in the following terms:

“My ambition is to make the UK a global hub for cryptocurrency technology,” Sunak said as Chancellor of the Exchequer, emphasizing the need to “ensure businesses can invest, innovate and grow in this country.”

As acting finance minister under former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the Stanford graduate has promoted various cryptocurrency-related initiatives, as part of an overall agenda aimed at normalizing and advancing the UK crypto ecosystem.

A tweet by @hmtreasury, the UK Government’s economic and finance ministry, had announced  earlier this year that, ā€œChancellor @RishiSunak has asked @RoyalMintUK to create an NFT to be issued by the summer.ā€

PM’s Next Steps

If you were to guess what the Prime Minister’s first steps might look like in the coming months, cryptocurrency regulation would be a good thing, if not at least a safe bet.

“By regulating effectively,” Sunak said, “we can give [the businesses of tomorrow] the confidence they need to think and invest in the long term.”

Recently, the European Parliament committee finally approved the much-discussed text for the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, with the White House publishing what it described as the “first comprehensive framework for the responsible development of digital assets.” These would be a very good sign for the industry as a whole.

By 2023, the global crypto landscape could be completely different, more advanced, more regulated, more pervasive, and broader. And this is positive.

The eyes of the world are watching how the youngest Prime Minister in British history deals with the “youngest” innovation of our time. He will just need luck and bull markets for a smooth ride ahead.

Experts Predict the Price of SHIB Will Reach USD 0.00000959 in Late December

0

While some specialists believe the Shibarium upgrade will drive the price of SHIB higher, others cannot make predictions at this stage. Ruadhan O predicted the meme coin would not die for lack of interest and would remain stable this year.

A group of experts recently predicted the price of Shiba Inu (SHIB) would reach USD 0.00000959 at the end of the year. The high number of new projects to create utility for the token might not make a significant difference.

According to 25% of the specialists, the Shibarium upgrade will lead the price of SHIB to increase. Twenty-two percent believe it will have no impact, while three percent expect a negative effect. Finally, 50% consider they cannot make predictions about the meme coin at this stage.

Twenty-two percent of the experts believe the upgrade will reduce transaction costs and increase transaction speed. However, 69% still do not know what might happen to Shiba Inu.

The Experts Give Their Opinion on the Course of SHIB

Alexander Kuptsikevich, a principal Analyst at FxPro, said Shiba Inu is just one of many meme coins. Although he believes its performance is not as significant as in 2021, he thinks it may have future waves in the crypto market.

The expert considers the Shibarium upgrade will reduce transaction costs and increase transaction speed. He predicted the price of SHIB would reach USD 0.00001329 in late 2022 and USD 0.0001 in 2025.

Ruadhan O, the founder of Seasonal Tokens, said that SHIB would remain stable this year. However, he believes the demand will increase with the emergence of a SHIB stablecoin in 2025.

He pointed out that the price of SHIB would follow the rise of the overall crypto market after the Bitcoin halving in 2024. Since the community is strong, the meme coin will not die for lack of interest as its social value will maintain its price.

According to Ruadhan, SHIB will be worth USD 0.0002 in 2025 and thrive in the metaverse, a natural environment for meme coins.

Sathvik Vishwanath, the CEO of Unocoin Technologies, said SHIB could be a good investment. Although he believes its growth potential will be over 100% in the coming years, investors still buy it in moderate quantities.

Kunal Sawhney, the Managing Director of the Kalkine Group, finds it harder to make predictions about SHIB than Bitcoin and Ether. He argued that Shiba Inu is a meme or joke token, regardless of the claims about the new Shibarium blockchain or stablecoin.

Some Experts Believe Stablecoins Will Help the Shiba Inu

Only 9% of the specialists believe a stablecoin will help the adoption of SHIB increase. Three percent expect Doggy DAO to boost it, while three percent believe ShibaSwap 2.0. will be the solution. Finally, 19% of the experts say no project will contribute to the growth of the meme coin.

Meanwhile, SHIB is trading at around USD 0.00001222 and has accumulated a 17.3% gain over the last 24 hours. While its daily trading volume is above USD 1.13 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 7.19 billion, according to CoinGecko.

The Comments of Elon Musk about His Takeover of Twitter Cause the Price of DOGE to Skyrocket

After hitting a new monthly high of USD 0.08423, DOGE dropped to USD 0.075 while its trading volume increased by 112.24%. Amid the recovery of the crypto market, the meme coin has outperformed most of the other top 20 coins.

The price of the popular meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) has reached a 7-day high, recovering by over 41% after the market rally. It has also accumulated a daily 17% gain, becoming one of the best-performing tokens.

Elon Musk Causes the Price of DOGE to Rise Considerably

Many altcoins have recently made significant profits amid the recovery of the crypto market from its collapse. However, DOGE has outperformed most of the other top 20 coins in only seven days, generating over 41% gains. The recent visit of Elon Musk to Twitter headquarters after announcing the acquisition may have also boosted the meme coin.

According to data from CoinMarketCap, the price of DOGE rose for two consecutive days. After reaching a new monthly high of USD 0.08423, the meme coin dropped to USD 0.075 while its trading volume increased by 112.24%.

The value of DOGE has risen by more than 41% over the last week, the highest increase among the top 20 cryptocurrencies. A market valuation of USD 10.5 billion places it as the 10th largest crypto asset, less than USD 1 billion below Solana (SOL).

A report from Coinglass indicates that traders recently closed about USD 8.69 million worth of Dogecoin futures. Failed short positions caused most sales of the meme coin (78.81%) to occur.

The price of Shiba Inu (SHIB), which competes with Dogecoin, rose by 4% over the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, leading cryptocurrencies Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) suffered minor losses in that period.

According to Gov.capital, the price of DOGE may rise to USD 0.22 in the coming 12 months, a 193% return from its current price.

Elon Musk’s Comments Cause the Price of DOGE to Skyrocket

Elon Musk’s comments about his takeover of Twitter and his visit to its headquarters may have caused the price of DOGE to rise. The controversial businessman showed a video where he carried a sink as he entered the premises.

Leslie Berland, the chief marketing officer of Twitter, reportedly wrote in an internal memo that Musk was in the office. She said he would talk to the staff in San Francisco and walk down the halls.

There are high expectations that Musk will complete the acquisition of Twitter in the short term. He recently promised his followers he would finalize the deal with the company soon.

Nobody knows whether Musk will implement his early plans to use DOGE and microtransactions to prevent spam on Twitter. However, the announcement caused excitement among enthusiasts and caused the price of the meme coin to rise sharply.

Meanwhile, Dogecoin is trading at around USD 0.081705 and has accumulated a 5.8% over the last 24 hours. While its daily trading volume is above USD 3.09 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 11.15 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Elon Musk Officially Owns Twitter, Fires CEO, and CFO

CEO of Tesla and SpaceX closed the deal to acquire Twitter on the evening of October 27. Until now, Elon Musk is known to have fired most of Twitter’s executives.

The billionaire and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, finalized the acquisition of Twitter on the afternoon of October 27, hours after presenting himself at the social network’s facilities with a toilet cabinet. According to BBC World News, the transaction was for US$44 billion, hours before the deadline for the billionaire to seal his deal to buy the social network.

Musk’s initial moves as the owner of Twitter included the firing of CEO Parag Agrawal, who went to court to force the Tesla boss to honor the terms of a takeover deal he had tried to escape from, the Washington Post and CNBC reported, citing unidentified sources.

Twitter employees shared photos during the afternoon of October 27, where Elon Musk is seen in a meeting in the middle of the company cafeteria. Later, CNBC and the Washington Post reported that the billionaire had “shown up” at the facility as the owner of the company.

Later, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal were reported to have left the company’s San Francisco headquarters. Even the head of Twitter legal policy, Vijaya Gadde, who made the decision to close the account of Donald Trump (former president of the United States), was also fired.

According to the media, at least one of the fired executives was escorted by members of security outside Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco (California, USA).

The billionaire had until October 28 to complete his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter or face a lengthy court battle to finalize the purchase of the company. Since April, the social network and Elon Musk exchanged legal accusations and were destined to face each other in the court of Delaware, United States.

Musk Holds Meetings with Twitter Employees

According to CNBC, not all Twitter employees seem “enthusiastic” about Elon Musk, after leaking a report revealing his intentions to lay off up to 75% of the staff, for which the workers wrote a letter demanding “fair treatment” by the new administration.

Previously, Elon Musk justified his purchase of Twitter as follows:

ā€œThe reason I bought Twitter is because it is important for the future of civilization to have a common digital public space, where a wide range of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy way, without resorting to violence. There is currently a great danger that social media will split into far-right and far-left echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.ā€

The tycoon indicated that Twitter “cannot become a free hell for everyone, where anything can be said without consequences”, but rather that “the laws must be respected”.

Musk’s Partnerships to Acquire Twitter

Earlier this week, one sign of a Twitter takeover was the confirmation that came in a call with banks including Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, and Barclays, each of which pledged $2.5 billion in loans for Musk’s acquisition.

In total, Musk’s seven banking partners pledged around $13 billion. Binance is another investor in the acquisition, having pledged $500 million. Other investors backing Musk include the Qatar Investment Authority and venture capital firm Sequoia Capital.

Musk has previously described himself as a ā€œfree speech absolutistā€ and has as usual attracted the attention of the crypto community due to his personal fondness for Dogecoin (DOGE).

Institutional Investors Do Not View Cryptocurrencies as an Alternative Investment Anymore

Institutional investors are buying more cryptocurrencies as they are more familiar with those assets, but the US reconfirms its backwardness. The survey indicates a trend is emerging, as most respondents consider crypto assets have lost their status as an alternative investment.

The current bearish trend has allowed the crypto market to evolve, making it easy to identify strong players and trends. This dynamic seems to include institutional investors forever, as they no longer consider digital assets as an alternative investment.

Many reports and studies on the cryptocurrency industry appear at the end of the year. Sometimes valuable assessments help define a trend or take stock of the changeable digital economy.

Fidelity Digital Asset has recently published its annual report on how institutional investors see the digital asset market. Despite the current bearish market, they maintain an optimistic sentiment and no longer consider cryptocurrencies an alternative investment.

Institutional Investors Express Increased Trust in Crypto Assets

Although the document is just over 20 pages, there have been only a few significant year-over-year changes. This study started with 1,052 blind interviews with professionals from various firms. That led to the publishing of a report on the relationship between institutional investors (and high-net-worth individuals) and the crypto market.

The trend is quite bullish despite the current bearish market, as the trust expressed by institutional investors has increased significantly since 2021. Around 58% of the respondents now invest in cryptocurrencies and have a different perception of them (51%) worldwide.

The trend in Europe (51%) is at the same level of global adoption and positive perception as in Asia. Institutional investors may have familiarized themselves more with crypto assets as they have invested more in them. The United States reconfirms its backwardness in this area, with only 39% of favorable positioning.

Cryptocurrencies Are No Longer an Alternative Investment for Institutional Investors

However, the above survey indicates a trend is emerging as the turning point is elsewhere. Institutional investors have a new perception of the crypto market, as they consider they have lost their status as an alternative asset class.

In contrast to 2021, more institutional investors view digital assets as an independent asset class. For the first time in the history of this study, their number exceeds those who think they are only part of the alternative asset class.

Since the main obstacle is the significant volatility of the cryptocurrency sector, it will take time for mass adoption. That makes crypto assets attractive investments unless the market stabilizes after a long process of institutional drowning.

Institutional investors have expressed optimism about cryptocurrencies despite the current bearish crypto market. For example, Michael Saylor has bought significant amounts of Bitcoin to increase the reserves in his company.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is trading at around USD 20,018 and has accumulated a 6% gain over the last week. While its daily trading volume is above USD 41.15 billion, its market capitalization is about USD 387.57 billion, according to CoinGecko.

On-Chain Analysis of BTC, ETH, and XRP: Where is the Retail Demand?

0

The price of Bitcoin moved in a range momentum similar to that experienced in the 2015 and 2018-2019 cycles. Ethereum price had reversed most of the mid-September losses that took its value below $1,200. XRP price could post some gains moving towards $0.488 if retail volumes can help momentum.

Bitcoin (BTC) led the market gains with a quick recovery above the $20,000 mark. Ethereum and XRP, along with other top altcoins, posted big gains.

The global crypto market capitalization finally broke the $1 trillion mark, helping market optimism. Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and XRP all noted high daily gains as the bears finally faded into the background.

After the crypto market began posting green numbers on Tuesday, more than $1.2 billion in short liquidations occurred in roughly 24 hours. In this way, the market freed itself from the narrow price range in which it had oscillated since September.

Despite notable gains and bullish sentiment across the market, BTC price stabilized at the $20,600 mark. On the other hand, the price of ETH and XRP also faced rejection at their upper resistance levels.

Bitcoin On-Chain Analysis: Bulls Might Have to Wait

The price of Bitcoin has been trading at $20,598.99, which is down 1.17% on the daily time frame.

With BTC’s short-term price action weakening, a drop below $20,323 could induce selling pressure.

Considerable time must pass before the realized price of the 1-3 month UTXO Age Band is broken for a prolonged growth trend; for now, that level is at the $21,264 mark.

While BTC exchange reserves have been declining in recent days, leading to less selling pressure, net unrealized profit and loss (NUPL) is still in the capitulation phase.

The NUPL indicator was below 0, presenting buy signals; however, it is not as attractive as it was during the 2020 low, when it stood at -0.18.

Ethereum On-chain Analysis: Price at the Crossroads

Ethereum’s price traded at $1,552, noting daily losses of 1.41%. ETH’s price had reversed most of the losses from mid-September, which brought its value below the 1,200 mark. However, there were still significant barriers ahead of the ETH bulls.

Data from Glassnode highlighted that the number of active ETH addresses (7d MA) just hit a 3-month low of 28,431,935 despite recent gains.

Going forward, if the price of ETH drops below the $1,531 mark, the same could lead to further selling pressure on the coin. Data from IntoTheBlock highlighted significant resistance for ETH at the $1,579 mark, where more than 1 million addresses hold 2.46 million ETH.

XRP On-chain Analysis: Where is the Catalyst?

As for the price of XRP, the sixth-ranked cryptocurrency by market capitalization posted gains of just 3% in the past three days. XRP price has been in a prolonged downtrend since Oct. 10, despite Ripple’s victories in the ongoing regulatory battle.

The whales accumulated close to 300 million XRP in the last few months, but this did not affect the price of XRP much. Meanwhile, development activity and the total supply of stablecoins held by whales with more than $5 million experienced a continuous downward trend.

XRP price could post some gains, moving towards the $0.488 mark if retail volumes can help price momentum. However, if the price of XRP drops below the $0.38 mark, the same could spell trouble for the coin.
