SEC Chairman Warns Against Crypto Investment Risks

SEC Chairman Gary Gensler said that cryptocurrencies are a highly speculative and volatile investment vehicle.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler tweeted a Twitter space session in which he discussed the risks of cryptocurrency investments with SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw on Jan. 27.

Speaking to the US army, Gensler said that cryptocurrencies are a highly speculative and volatile investment instrument. He went on to say that several crypto projects are unregistered securities, as they do not comply with securities law.

The SEC chairman has stated that the commission should register many crypto projects because they qualify as securities. However, the crypto community has accused the regulator of employing “regulation by enforcement” tactics.

Gensler on How to Spot Fraud Projects

Gary Gensler gave advice on how investors can spot crypto scam projects. According to Gensler, a project can be a scam if it doesn’t prove it’s compliant or can’t provide adequate information about how it works or what it does. He added that other signs that a project might be a scam would be its inability to explain what it is about.

Other signs highlighted by the regulatory chief included projects offering very high and unsustainable returns. He advised crypto investors to think before investing, adding that they should not get caught up in fear of missing out (FOMO).

Commissioner Crenshow repeated Gensler’s warning. She said the following:

“The bottom line is that there is increased risk when investing in these novel, speculative and volatile investments that really lack basic protections and regulations. So if you are considering investing in crypto, consider how much of your portfolio you are putting into it, and certainly no more than you can afford to lose.”

SEC Intensifies Crypto Regulation Efforts

Following the FTX collapse in November 2022, the SEC has intensified its efforts to bring the crypto industry into compliance. The financial watchdog accused FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried of defrauding investors with his trading platform.

The regulator filed charges against bankrupt lender Genesis and cryptocurrency exchange Gemini over their now-defunct Earn program. According to the regulator, the program was not registered with a commission, as required by federal securities laws.

More recently, reports revealed that the SEC has increased scrutiny of crypto companies planning to go public. Stablecoin issuer Circle said its public listing efforts failed because it was unable to get regulatory approval. Grayscale has also seen his plan to turn its Bitcoin Trust into an ETF sunk by the financial regulator. It should be remembered that earlier this month, Grayscale’s chief legal officer, Craig Salm, stated that the firm’s proposal to convert its trust into a spot ETF satisfies the law. He further claimed that the ETF is designed to prevent fraud and manipulation while protecting investors and the public interest.

Bitcoin on January 28, 2023: The Beginning of Trouble on the Bearish Side?

The bear run of the king of crypto remains relevant.

While the coming week promises to be lively in terms of macroeconomic events, culminating in the FED meeting next Wednesday, the Bitcoin (BTC) price continues its momentum from the start of 2023. The troubles on the bear side could start. That being said, it is advisable not to jump to conclusions until there are some major catalysts that the bulls can hold on to for a long time.

Even if the current momentum encourages a rather upside look, the crypto king’s bear run is still relevant, despite graphical signals going in the direction of the bulls. This is so, especially since the reasons for its rebound are essentially based on hopes of a return to normal inflation and the reduction of fears of a severe recession.

In a market context in which the good news outweighs the bad, the latest technical analysis of BTC is reached.

Bitcoin in Weekly Units – Towards the Pass of Four?

Bitcoin would be on the verge of a fourth consecutive week of gains. This would make it possible to calmly validate the crossing of courses beyond the Kijun. At the same time, the Chikou Span approaches the Tenkan, but still has work to do to pass the downline of the bear race.

Assuming the bounce continues, Bitcoin would potentially reach $26,000, then sit near the lower limit of the Kumo (Ichimoku Cloud), the Senkou Span A (SSA). On the other hand, if a consolidation occurs, the ATH of 2017 will be scrutinized. Whether or not this is held will reveal more about the structure of the ongoing rebound.

Bitcoin in Daily Units – Price Above $22,000

In daily units, the price of Bitcoin has managed to break from $22,000, an intermediate level between $20,000 and $26,000. On the other hand, it moves away favorably from the Kumo in the same way as the Chikou Span.

In any case, the probability of a relapse into the alert zone does not seem to be on the agenda in the short term. This would allow the bulls to move towards $26,000. If this market scenario were to gain credibility, the question will be whether or not it is advisable to go through a consolidation phase or not.

If so, the groundwork for a structurally robust rebound would eventually be laid. In this sense, it will be interesting to follow the $22,000 and $20,000 levels, to test their recent changes in polarity, from resistance to support. Conversely, the series of consecutive rising weekly candles could continue to the point of initiating panic on the bear side.

Finally, the possibility of a questioning of this bullish scenario would occur from the breakout of $20,000, in which case there is a risk of returning towards the levels seen at the end of last year, not far from $16,000.

SHIB or DOGE: Is Shiba Inu Better than Dogecoin in 2023?

SHIB has experienced significant price volatility, and should be considered a high risk investment.

In recent months, the Shiba Inu coin has established itself as a meme coin in the bear market and can remain in the top 15 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization even in difficult times. Is Shiba Inu better than Dogecoin?

Shiba Inu prices have increased significantly in recent weeks. Because the rate was still US$0.000081 at the end of the year 2022/2023, the rise seen in Bitcoin or Ethereum in the first days of the year was still limited.

The Shiba Inu coin continued to rise after a week. On January 14, a strong short-term rally allowed the price to break through the $0.00001 barrier. Momentum remained strong for the next several days, with the price eventually rallying to a high of $0.0001269. The Shiba Inu price has stabilized after the massive rally at this level, currently trading at $0.00001211.

SHIB vs DOGE

SHIB and DOGE are both cryptocurrencies that have experienced significant price volatility and should be considered high risk investments. Below are some key differences:

Origin: SHIB is a token on the Ethereum Blockchain, and part of the Shiba Inu project, while DOGE was created as a joke in 2013.

Market Capitalization: DOGE has a much higher market capitalization than SHIB. This means that DOGE is considered a more established and widely adopted cryptocurrency.

Community: DOGE has a large and active community of fans and investors, while SHIB is relatively new and has a smaller community.

Use case: DOGE is often used as a form of payment and tipping on various platforms, while SHIB is mainly used as a speculative investment.

Development: DOGE is an open source project, with a strong and active community of developers working on it, while SHIB is developed by a small team of developers.

Total Supply: DOGE has a fixed maximum supply, while SHIB has no maximum supply limit.

Distribution: SHIB has a unique distribution mechanism in which the initial distribution of the token was done via a smart contract “50% for Ethereum holders, 20% for Bitcoin holders, 20% for Litecoin holders, and 10% for Binance Coin holders.”

Market Performance: DOGE has been around longer and has had some impressive rallies in the past, but SHIB’s price has risen exponentially since its launch in May 2021.

Legal Status: The use of DOGE is considered legal in most countries, but some have placed restrictions on its use or have banned it altogether. SHIB is also legal in most countries, but its legal status may vary depending on the country’s cryptocurrency regulations.

Is Shiba Inu Better than Dogecoin?

The Shiba Inu coin has been a contender since 2020. It has risen higher than Dogecoin during this time. This means that the risk is higher, but so are the potential gains. In 2023, the Shiba Inu coin has higher risk but potentially higher reward than Dogecoin.

If you want the highest possible risk in a cryptocurrency, the Shiba Inu (SHIB) coin might be a better investment.

Orbeon Protocol (ORBN), Kaspa (KAS) and Quant (QNT) Lead the Way

The three projects stand out for their potential to generate significant returns.

The cryptocurrency market is known for its volatility and potential for high returns. Among the many projects in the space, three, in particular, stand out for their potential to generate significant returns: Orbeon Protocol (ORBN), Kaspa (KAS), and Quant (QNT). In fact, Orbeon Protocol (ORBN) is already up over 1400% during the pre-sale phase, so it is off to a great start.

Kaspa (KAS)

Kaspa (KAS) is a new Layer-1 Blockchain protocol that allows developers to easily create and deploy dApps. Using a PoW consensus model, Kaspa (KAS) offers the same security as Bitcoin (BTC), but is much more scalable. This scalability of Kaspa (KAS) is simply not seen in other PoW Blockchains.

An additional noteworthy aspect of Kaspa (KAS) is its lack of institutional investments and pre-mined tokens. This makes Kaspa (KAS) a truly decentralized project, which means that the community is in full control of its development. It’s safe to say that the $95 million market cap pales in comparison to what Kaspa (KAS) could be worth in the near future.

Quant (QNT)

Quant (QNT) is an interoperability protocol that bridges the gap between traditional finance and Blockchain-based solutions. Quant (QNT) uses the Overledger Network to connect existing financial networks, such as SWIFT and SEPA, with Blockchain protocols such as Ethereum (ETH). Quant (QNT) also makes it easy for developers to create and deploy distributed applications.

The QNT token is required to access the Quant (QNT) Overledger Network, which means that the price of QNT should increase as Quant (QNT) gains more adoption. Quant (QNT) is currently priced at $143, with a market capitalization of $1.7 billion. Quant (QNT) is well-positioned to benefit from the institutional money flowing into the crypto space.

Orbeon Protocol (ORBN)

Orbeon Protocol (ORBN) is a crowdfunding platform that changes the game of venture capital as we know it. The common investor can access the same opportunities that professional venture capitalists have had exclusive access to for so long. Just $1 is enough to get started on the path to financial freedom.

The Orbeon Protocol (ORBN) offers startups a unique opportunity to acquire financing without the hassle of navigating the traditional venture capital route. Startups can raise capital quickly, easily, and efficiently.

Moreover, Orbeon Protocol (ORBN) leverages smart contracts to streamline investment procedures, while promoting transparency and fairness. All smart contracts are audited by Solid Proof, the leading Blockchain security testing company in the industry.

ORBN token holders not only gain access to the Orbeon Protocol (ORBN) platform, but they can also earn staking rewards,  and participate in governance rights, as well as in private investment conversations.

ORBN is currently priced at $0.06 during the late stages of the Orbeon Protocol (ORBN) pre-sale. With the official launch and exchange listings scheduled for later this year, the price is expected to skyrocket, as demand for ORBN tokens increases.

Cardano Forecast for February 2023

Cardano’s course could continue to rise or lose a lot due to a crypto crash.

January 2023 was one of the most successful months for the Cardano (ADA) price since the start of the bear market. The course has gone from a very low $0.24 to over $0.37 in recent weeks. Will the price increase continue in the coming weeks? What is the Cardano forecast for February?

Cardano (ADA) price has seen a stronger rise in recent weeks, rehabilitating itself after heavy losses in late 2022. Cardano price has risen from $0.24 to over $0.38 in the last 3 to 4 weeks. This increase was more than 50 percent.

The percentage increase was even higher than the one in Bitcoin and Ethereum. The ADA token has been one of the most successful cryptocurrencies of 2023 so far. Cardano came from a very low point. In the fourth quarter of 2022, the ADA token still experienced very significant losses.

Why Could the Cardano Price Go up So Much?

The market woke up again in early 2023. The price of Bitcoin was able to rally above $17,000 in the early days of 2023. With a break of this resistance, Bitcoin was able to rally massively, causing the market to explode. Of course, this also caused massive increases for the ADA token.

Nevertheless, the Cardano course was able to rise considerably in the early days. The cryptocurrency reacted particularly strongly to the bull market, as in the previous weeks, the ADA token had to accept painful losses. 2023 has been a rally so far, which explains the stronger increases at the beginning of the year.

What is the Cardano Forecast for February 2023?

In recent weeks, the Cardano price has finally been able to reflect how the network has evolved, because especially in the bear market, there are always very good developments in the background. The Vasil upgrade took place on Cardano, and this is the first step of the Basho development phase, which aims to increase scalability on Cardano.

With Vasil alone, the Cardano network has gained scalability. Moreover, in recent months it became known that Cardano is now the number 3 Blockchain for NFTs. These developments are ultimately reflected in the price, and could also cause the price to rise in February.

However, as always, the market development in general has the last word. If the market remains bullish, and the Bitcoin price rises above the $23,000 resistance, the Cardano price could continue to rise. However, if a Bitcoin crash is imminent, Cardano or the ADA token should lose more again.

Where is Cardano Price in the February Forecast?

Cardano’s course could continue to rise or lose a lot due to a crypto crash.

In the first scenario, a continuation of the Bitcoin price rise can be seen, as well as no events that cause the market to fall. In this case one Cardano forecast of $0.45 to $0.55 by the end of February could be assumed.

In the second scenario, another cryptographic crash occurs. Therefore, an insolvency of Digital Currency Group could lead to such an event. If this happens, there could be a sharp drop of the Cardano rate, from $0.22 to $0.30, until the end of the month.

A Year after Paris Hilton and Jimmy Fallon, How Shameful Is BAYC?

A year ago this week, Paris Hilton appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss her Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs.

A year ago this week, Jimmy Fallon and Paris Hilton got together on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to show off their NFTs. Both Hilton and Fallon had purchased “Bored Apes” from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT Collection. It was a project that, even then, was synonymous with “expensive JPEGs”.

“Last time you were on the show, I asked you to explain NFTs,” Fallon said, with his usual plastic charm, “and you did it in a great way.” As a gracious host, Fallon later named Hilton one of Forbes’ 50 Most Influential People in NFTs. The socialite responded with one of the most banal series of words ever put together, as follows:

“Thank you, I am very proud. I love being a part of this community, being a voice and sharing my platform, and just getting the word out. Because I think it’s such an amazing thing.”

The damning coverage was impossible to ignore: Forbes, The Atlantic, The Telegraph, VICE, The Cut. This was public interest journalism; two rich people talking about their exorbitant monkeys. It was funny, it was reportedly embarrassing, among other things.

Jimmy Fallon?

The whole brand and vibe is the exact opposite of what Web3 and the vision of decentralization is supposed to be. The idea is not exactly to help the rich get richer.

That same month, reports that Justin Bieber paid $1.3 million for a BAYC NFT only added to the animosity. By the spring of last year, the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s celebrity roster was packed with household names.

Despite the cries of “shame” from the cheap seats, maybe Yuga Labs (the creators of BAYC) were onto something. Hilton’s appearance on Fallon’s show coincided with an increase in the BAYC minimum price.

However, the higher prices did not necessarily mean that people thought of BAYC as less embarrassing. An appearance on one of America’s most popular talk shows is a bullish sign.

BAYC and NFT Brand Damage

The extensive media coverage of celebrities and their boring overalls seemingly did little for the broader NFT brand. A February 2022 survey of UK residents by YouGov showed that 43% of respondents would feel less favorable if a business started offering NFTs. Only 3% of respondents would feel more favorable.

There is also a big difference in people’s perceived value depending on whether or not they own one. According to a survey conducted by Variety magazine, consumer perceptions of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have been declining, especially among those who have not purchased them.

The power of shame has meant that even bullish companies like Reddit have moved away from the term NFT, opting instead for the term ‘Collectible Avatars’.
