Philippines Stands out in Google Ranking in Metaverse Searches

0

The Philippines has topped the list when it comes to interest in the metaverse. It is also home to the largest number of players on the internet according to a Coin Kickoff report.

The Philippines has topped the list when it comes to interest in the metaverse, and it is home to the largest number of Web 3.0 players. According to new research from Coin Kickoff, the Philippines has the most interest in the metaverse. The study analyzed Google searches from 193 different countries. The country registered 2,421 relevant Google searches per 1,000 people.

The Philippines Most Interested in the Metaverse

The business survey highlights that 89% of professionals are open to using the metaverse to improve their productivity, and nearly half believe it will foster a happier work environment.

Additionally, the Global Digital Report 2023 found that 95.8% of Filipino internet users aged 16-64 played video games. According to these figures, the Philippines has the largest population of gamers in the world.

Twitter user @timweb3_ commented that “Phillipines is the country showing the most interest in the Metaverse worldwide!! with 2,421 google search per 1000 people. Support for the metaverse is seen highest within SEA countries, with 5/10 countries expressing positive opinions.”

The survey results are a bit unexpected, given the large number of players who suffered losses during the P2E gaming craze in 2021-2022. Axie Infinity, a product of Sky Mavis Inc., generated 35% of its traffic from within the country.

The reports also noted that most of its 2.5 million daily active users also came from the Philippines. Instead of providing a secondary source of income, though, the game became a source of debt for many Filipino users.

In March last year, Axie Infinity was one of many cryptocurrency projects exploited by hackers. In this particular case, a hacker stole $620 million in cryptocurrency from the bridge that the platform used to exchange assets across different Blockchains. This was a huge loss for the many stakeholders in the project on many levels.

Vietnam and Indonesia also Top the List

Indonesia had the second highest number of gamers, with 94.8% of internet users in the category.

Meanwhile, when it comes to the metaverse, the people of Florida in America are also interested in exploring the metaverse. The state recorded 670 searches per 1,000 people.

This comes with no surprise, considering that more than 75% of Americans, according to McKinsey research, are aware of the metaverse. Meanwhile, 55% use at least one platform that employs their technologies.

Vietnam is also one of the most favorable destinations for the metaverse. In 56.8% of their Twitter tweets about the virtual world, the Vietnamese express the most favorable views of the metaverse. By contrast, Irish citizens are the most doubtful about the metaverse, with 14.4% of tweets criticizing it.

Solana (SOL) Price Prediction 2025-30: SOL Struggles to Stay above $20

0

In the last seven days, the price of the SOL fell from $24.98 to $20.27.

Solana (SOL) traded within a range (orange) between $20.4 and $26.6, with the midpoint at $23.5 since mid-January. In the last seven days, the price of the SOL fell from $24.98 to $20.27. Additionally, its market capitalization fell from $9.3 billion to $7,607,433,352 in the same period.

Solana has rebounded remarkably from the losses it posted in November and December, especially for a multi-billion-dollar market cap asset. How it can escape the current drop will determine how well it will perform in the days to come.

Solana has raised about $335.8 million in 9 funding rounds, with Alameda Research, Andreessen Horowitz, and Polychain as its main investors.

However, the current year has proven to be highly volatile for all cryptocurrencies so far, and Solana was not spared the worst part either. So far, its maximum price this year has been $136.38, dated April 3. The Solana Blockchain was recently hacked, and thousands of users reported losing their funds worth around $8 million.

In early August 2022, thousands of Solana accounts were emptied. The Solana Foundation, however, told the Financial Times that the exploit “does not appear” to have affected its core infrastructure, but rather was caused by a bug “in the software used by several wallets popular with Solana users.”

Solana Price, Market Cap, and Other Metrics

Messari’s James Trautman recently released a report looking at the state of Solana in Q2 2022. With the volatility prevailing in the metrics in Q1, Solana completely crashed, in line with all other cryptocurrencies in Q2.

Revenues decreased 44.4% due to poor network performance, while average transaction fees decreased 40.6%. In the second quarter, its P/S ratio was 847x. Compared to Q1, its TVL also decreased by around 68%, similar to a ~70% drop in TVL across the top 10 DeFi protocols.

Solana Price Prediction 2025

A Changelly blog post stated that Solana’s top and bottom prices in 2025 will be $213.55 and $174.43, respectively. On average, it will trade at around $179.57 in 2025, he added, and SOL’s potential ROI is anticipated to be 441%.

Finder’s panel of experts also had some predictions to make. According to the panel, SOL can be expected to reach the $166 mark by 2025. It is worth noting here that these predictions were made last month.

Solana Price Prediction 2030

As far as 2030 is concerned, the Finder panel predicted that SOL will reach $512 in 2030. As was the case for 2025, the panel’s January predictions were very different from their July predictions.

It wouldn’t be right to fail to mention that the Solana Network is prone to outages and has been for a while. According to the CEO of Bitwave, “…keeping an eye on Solana, but it is the only Blockchain that regularly has major outages, which is simply not feasible for a fintech.”

In fact, more than 65% of Finder panelists believe Solana’s Network will continue to experience more outages in the future.

What Does the Future Hold for ETH Staking After SEC Kraken Ruling?

0

ETH sank to a two-week low recently. However, ETH staking activity was not massively affected.

The crypto space felt the pinch of another US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ruling. According to a February 10 tweet from Wu Blockchain, Kraken, the second-largest exchange in the US, “immediately” ceased its cryptocurrency staking platform-as-a-service for US clients:

“The US SEC accused Kraken of failing to register the offer and sale of its crypto asset staking-as-a-service program and announcing annual investment returns of up to 21 percent. Kraken agreed to stop staking products immediately and pay $30 million in penalties,” read the tweet from Wu Blockchain.

This was done after Kraken was fined $30 million by the SEC, after the former failed to register the offer and sale of its cryptocurrency staking program. Furthermore, Kraken confirmed that it would delist all non-Ethereum [ETH] assets, as delisting ETH would only be possible after the Shanghai Update.

Is the End of Staking Near?

This development came less than 24 hours after Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong’s speculative tweet, about the future of crypto gambling in the US, sparked FUD in the crypto space. Now that the ruling has been made public, Coinbase has also felt the heat. Its shares plunged about 14% during trading hours on Thursday, its biggest drop since July 2022.

Brian Armstrong took to Twitter again to calm the crypto community, stating that Coinbase would protect its customers from “government reach”:

“We will continue to fight for economic freedom (our mission at Coinbase). Some days, being the most trusted brand in crypto means protecting our customers from government overreach.”

There have been fears about the SEC’s viewing of ETH as a security post in its staking role. SEC Chairman Gary Gensler said that “whether through staking as a service, lending, or other means, cryptocurrency brokers, when offering investment contracts in exchange for investor tokens, must provide the proper disclosures and safeguards required by our securities laws.”

Should ETH Investors Hit the Panic Button?

The news raised doubts in the minds of ETH investors, which was evident in falling ETH balances on exchanges, according to data from Glassnode. At the same time, the number of daily active addresses also dropped by 5%.

Interestingly, staking activity remained immune to a greater extent, as revealed by the increase in ETH staked. Furthermore, the growth of validators on ETH 2.0 has also increased steadily. However, with more regulatory tightening on the anvil, these key engagement metrics could be in the red in the days ahead.

ETH-weighted sentiment has deepened into the negative territory, which signifies investor unease at this point.

Currently, ETH is down more than 5% to trade at $1547.13. It had been trading in a range since February 20, but was in real danger of breaking down.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) fell below 50 neutral, which was a negative sign. The moving average convergence/divergence line (MACD) passed below the signal line, paving the way for the bears to retake control. In addition, On Balance Volume (OBV) posted lower lows of late, adding evidence to the bearish idea.

El Salvador Receives Permits to Build the Bitcoin City Airport

It seeks to provide an airport connection to the Eastern zone of El Salvador. The airport would generate about 4,700 jobs in the first year and it will be built in stages.

The Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA) assured that it has already received the environmental permits for the construction of the Pacific Airport. Meanwhile, they are advancing with the design of the new terminal in the eastern part of the country. The new station is part of the Bitcoin City project, which will be developed in El Salvador.

The site will become the most ambitious regional development undertaken by that country. It will be a new urbanism with an environmental conscience due to the fact that Bitcoin City generates its own energy from the volcano located on the perimeter.

The president of the institution, Federico Anliker, indicated that the aeronautical technical part and international permits for the establishment of the terminal are being analyzed:

“We are talking with airlines so that they are our clients, and they can operate, and the important thing is that we are walking and going in the right direction. The airport will be located in the Loma Larga canton, in the municipality of La Unión, and will be built in phases. During the pandemic, pre-feasibility, feasibility, geotechnical and resettlement studies were carried out.”

The construction is part of the group of emblematic projects of the Nayib Bukele administration that he even promised during the electoral campaign. The expectation is that the airport station mobilizes one million passengers and that it connects with Bitcoin City. However, a group of landowners from the Condadillo and Flor de Mangle hamlets, La Unión, stated that they did not agree with the project.

After a quarter of these expressions, Anliker assured that some 52 families, who live in the area designated to build the project, are “extremely happy” because they have been given “a much more dignified option” to live.

The CEPA website details that the Government of El Salvador seeks to turn the eastern zone into a pole of economic development, encourage the growing demand for passengers abroad, develop international tourism, as well as to activate the Port of La Unión.

Where the Money Comes from

In June 2022, the Legislative Assembly gave the green light to the reform of the 2022 Budget Law. It was to add 12 million dollars to the Public Works and Transportation branch so that the first phase of the airport could be executed. There are 6.3 million that the Ministry of Finance requested from the Legislative Branch, to allocate the amount to previous construction expenses.

The PEYCO-ALBEN 4,000 consortium delivered the studies carried out for the construction of the airport in the eastern part of the country.

Among the most outstanding positive impacts of the report is the improvement of living conditions, development of tourism in the area, connectivity, and job creation, among others. It was also revealed that the airport will generate about 4,700 jobs in the first year, and 50,000 jobs in 10 years.

Deutsche Bank Investment Arm Meets with Crypto Companies to Invest

0

Sources said the company is discussing buying a stake in Deutsche Digital Assets and Tradias.

Deutsche Bank’s asset management division is reportedly aiming to invest in two German cryptocurrency companies in a bid to fuel growth.

Bloomberg reported that the company is analyzing the purchase of a minority stake in Deutsche Digital Assets and Tradias, owned by Bankhaus Scheich. Meanwhile, a collaboration with Galaxy Digital, directed by Mike Novogratz, could also be in the works.

Deutsche Bank Crypto Investments During Market Downturn

According to Crunchbase, Tradias is a Frankfurt-based FinTech company that offers digital asset management, lending, stock exchange, and cryptocurrency trading services, while Deutsche Digital Assets is a Frankfurt-based provider of cryptocurrency exchange-traded instruments.

Bloomberg Markets tweeted that “Deutsche Bank’s asset management arm is in talks to invest in two German cryptocurrency firms as part of efforts to revive growth, sources say.”

Stefan Hoops, CEO of DWS Group, expresses optimism about the future of digital assets. The executive recently stated during an earnings call that the firm has begun looking at strategic partners and conducting due diligence on potential targets, including digital assets.

Falling digital asset prices could lead to “interesting opportunities” for DWS, he said.

Speaking of the bank’s strategy for the crypto industry, Hoops mentioned a plan to build or acquire “various specific Blockchain-related services.”

According to the Deutsche Digital Assets website, the company offers investors exposure to crypto assets through a variety of investment vehicles, ranging from passive funds to actively managed funds, as well as white-label services for asset managers.

The investment in cryptocurrency is reportedly one of DWS’s efforts to revive growth and restore its reputation, after allegations of tax fraud and greenwashing led to investigations in Germany and the United States.

Money Laundering Allegations Surrounded DWS Last Year

DWS Group, one of the leading asset managers, seems to be watching the digital asset market during a downturn. Since the last quarter of 2021, the bear market has taken over the markets, costing more than $1 trillion to capitalize.

The FTX implosion has also kept market gains in the red. That said, the reports also come after the May 2022 “greenwashing” allegations.

Last year, German investigators raided DWS over claims it misled clients about “green” investments. However, DWS reiterated its rejection of any misinformation from investors.

Prosecutors claimed they were investigating whistleblowers and news claims that DWS had engaged in “greenwashing.” Greenwashing is misrepresenting investments as “more sustainable” than they were.

Meanwhile, in Germany, DekaBank, one of the main securities service providers for the German Savings Banks Finance Group, is also considering cryptocurrencies.

BeInCrypto reported last week that DekaBank has partnered with METACO, a Swiss-based cryptocurrency company, to offer cryptocurrency-related services to institutions.

Ethereum Price Risks a 20% Correction amid SEC Crackdown on Crypto Staking

0

On February 9, the price of ETH plunged nearly 6.5% to around $1,525, the biggest single-day drop since December 16 last year.

Ethereum’s native token Ether (ETH) posted its worst daily performance of the year when the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) banned cryptocurrency exchange Kraken from offering cryptocurrency staking services.

On February 9, Kraken agreed to pay $30 million to settle the SEC’s allegation that it violated securities rules by offering cryptocurrency staking services to US retail investors.

The news drove down the prices of many PoS (Proof-of-Stake) Blockchain project tokens, in particular. Ethereum, which switched to a staking-based protocol in September 2022, was also affected.

Will Ethereum Staking Survive the SEC Crash?

The SEC’s crackdown on cryptocurrency staking begins as Ethereum awaits the release of its key network upgrade, dubbed Shanghai, in March.

The update will finally enable Ether validators – entities that have locked up approximately $25.6 billion worth of ETH tokens in the Ethereum PoS smart contract – to withdraw their assets along with performance rewards.

As a result, a number of analysts, including Bitwise Asset Management chief investment officer Matt Hougan, see Shanghai as a bullish event for Ether.

“Today many investors who would like to bet on ETH and earn a return are sitting on the sidelines. After all, most investment strategies cannot tolerate an indefinite freeze,” wrote Hougan in his January letter to investors, adding the following:

“Therefore, most investors are left out of the market. But once that indefinite hold is lifted, the percentage of investors willing to put their ETH on the line will explode.”

Doubts have been raised about the future of cryptocurrency participation in the US, however, with Brian Armstrong, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, fearing that the SEC would ban retail investor participation in the future.

Furthermore, some analysts argue that banning Ether staking services will force users away from Ethereum.

Specifically, Ethereum requires interested parties to deposit 32 ETH (~$50,000) into its PoS smart contract in order to be a validator. As a result, retail investors often use third-party staking services that pool smaller amounts of ETH to enable validator status.

ETH Price Sees Bearish Rejection

From a technical point of view, the Ether price is positioned for a possible 20% price correction in February.

Notably, on the daily chart, the ETH price has pulled back after testing its multi-month downtrend line for resistance. You now have the 200 day EMA (200 day EMA; the blue wave) near $1525 as support.

Ether is at risk of breaking below the wave of support at the 200 day EMA due to its negative market fundamentals. That scenario includes the next downside target at $1,200, which coincides with multi-month rising trendline support.
