Web2 Cloud Giants May Join Due to Decentralized Infura’s Launch

0

What is Decentralized Infura? It will be made up of Infura and a decentralized market of other third-party data suppliers.

By the end of this year, a decentralized version of Infura will be launched.  An important representative of ConsenSys stated “We’re looking to launch something later this year, but then there’s going to be what they call a federated phase that they’re expecting to like to last of the order of six months,”

Pros and Cons of Infura

Let us view some of the pros and cons of Infura. First it all, it is the access point for furthermost DApps to access real-time on-chain data from the Ethereum blockchain. On the other hand, Infura delivers a single point of failure due to it is controlled only by ConsenSys. In the same vein, Infura came under fire from some users for complying with U.S. sanctions against Tornado Cash. Also, when Infura went down, centralized exchanges and DeFi projects were affected and the MetaMask wallet ceased operating. All these events took place in November 2020.

On the one hand, the preparations for having a decentralized marketplace for the five different data providers which can conduct a job alike to that of Infura are quite developed. On the other hand, these providers are scattered all around the world. Infura itself will turn into another brick on the wall of the network.

Because DApps will not require depending on a specific data service provider located in one jurisdiction, Ethereum access will become more reliable and censorship-resistant. Let us see what Morris says;

“If you have different people setting up their infrastructure in different ways on different cloud providers using different node software, then you can start to build antifragility into [the system].”

According to Morris, the ultimate purpose is to build a TCP/IP-like building that cannot be regulated:

“You can’t regulate TCP/IP, but you can certainly regulate the providers. So we’re trying to create a new architecture of Web3 with how it can grow […] then our role within it […] is to drive that paradigm shift.”

“There’s interest from both of them [Web2 and Web3 providers]. I mean, they kind of see this as a novel, kind of potential source of a huge amount of business in the future.”

Experts are expecting a transition into a permissionless marketplace of data providers sometime during 2024. Whether by Consensys or any other one yet to be determined, the federated stage was necessary to iron out the bugs. It is also necessary to have the system working suitably whilst still under centralized control.

Because monopolies could be shut down by just one court order, decentralizing Infura blockchain’s data providers is pretty likely to be crucial. For a Web3 wallet like MetaMask that relies on Infura for data, this could have severe consequences.

Finally, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) or a foundation could govern the decentralized version of Infura.

Why 2024 will be the Year with the Highest Returns in this Cycle

Recently, Capriole Investments released a wide-ranging report; a compelling case about the reasons 2024 will be a significant year for Bitcoin, possibly making available the highest returns in its current four-year cycle, Charles Edwards. The report researches a number of aspects of Bitcoin’s future. This includes, but is not limited to, its role as a hedge against inflation, the influence of g ETF approvals, the upcoming halving event, and the upcoming halving event.

BTC rose to $26,246, an increase of 1.8% in the last 24 hours.

Catalysts for Bitcoin

Edwards states, “Bitcoin gets a hard rep for its performance coming out of 2021 amidst growing inflation,” In the same vein, Edwards asserts, “Bitcoin was a great inflation hedge – it was when it needed to be.” It is clear that his vision of Bitcoin’s performance as an inflation hedge differs from popular belief.

It is quite notable how Bitcoin has outperformed all other asset classes having a 1000% rise from Q1 2020 to Q1 2021, Edwards states that increase was a direct response to the Federal Reserve’s multi-trillion-dollar QE packages announced in March 2020. “Today, markets move incredibly fast and look to the future. As soon as macroeconomic announcements are made, pricing begins,” Edwards says.

Comparing Bitcoin and traditional hedges, Edwards notes that Bitcoin’s performance during the liquidity boom was unparalleled. “There is no doubt that Bitcoin dominated the crisis as the best hedge against inflation,” he says, adding: “There is no second best. Bitcoin was the biggest inflation hedge we’ve ever seen.”

The second key catalyst for Bitcoin is the upcoming halving in April 2024. Edwards highlights the severity of this event and states: “The upcoming Bitcoin halving in April will drop Bitcoin’s supply growth rate to 0.8% p.a. and below that of Gold (1.6%) for the first time ever.” This means that “In April 2024, Bitcoin will for the first time become harder than Gold.”

Charles addresses the common argument that the halving is already included in the price by saying that, “If there is one thing we have learned from Bitcoin’s past it’s that the halving is never priced in.” He maintains that 80% cycle drawdowns restore all interest in Bitcoin. Additionally, he refers to parallels to previous cycles, pointing out that many on-chain metrics indicate that the actual cycle exactly mirrors those of 2019 and 2015.

Third, Edwards also addresses the regulatory landscape, highlighting the clarity brought by the CFTC’s classification of Bitcoin as a commodity in 2021. He also mentions the important announcement of Blackrock’s Bitcoin ETF application and the court order federal appeals case for the SEC to reconsider its Grayscale Spot ETF Rejection. It is his expectation that the SEC will approve the spot ETF in October 2023 or January 2024.

Discussing the potential impact of ETFs on Bitcoin, Edwards draws a parallel with gold, pointing to the significant bull run that followed the approval of the gold ETF in 2004. “When the Gold ETF approval hit, what followed was a massive +350% return, seven-year bull-run,” the analyst remarked, adding, “So, we have three incredible catalysts on the very near horizon,” he states, listing the upcoming halving, imminent ETF approvals, and Bitcoin’s status as the best inflation hedge.

To sum up, Edwards provides us with a bullish but cautious outlook. Whilst he recognizes the short-term bearish signs, he shows optimism about the long-term prospects. “In Bitcoin’s four-year cycles, there are typically 12-18 months where 90% of returns happen, followed by 2-3 years of sideways and down,” he observes, adding, “I am expecting that the single highest returning year of this cycle will be 2024 and I believe the data supports that thesis.”

Bitcoin is up 55.7% in 2023. However, as part of the market for the market in September, MSTR has dropped 1.4% this month. The good news is that if the past serves as a precedent, this setback could have bullish implications for adjacent stocks to Bitcoin.

In recent weeks, Microstrategy stocks have fallen within a standard deviation of their 100-day moving average. According to Rocky White, a senior quantitative analyst at Schaeffer, there have been another five times in the last three years, MSTR was within a standard deviation of his trend line 100 days after a long period above it, defined for this study like 80% of the time regarding the last two months as well as eight of the last 10 business days.

A brief contraction could also keep the wind in favor of shares. The short-term interest fell 8.7% in the two most recent periods of reports, nevertheless, the 2.58 million shares sold in short still represent 21.4% of the MSTR Flotation Full available. To the average rhythm of negotiation of the share, three full negotiation days would be needed so that short vendors relegate their bearish bets.

The options also have affordable prices at this time. The MSTR Schaeffer (SVI) Volatility Index of 58% is located in the first percentile of its annual range, indicating that the expectations of low volatility are unusually low at this time, a blessing for premium buyers.

New US Cryptocurrency Accounting Rules “Eradicate the Bad Impression” that Deterred Companies from Purchasing Cryptocurrency

0

The new US Financial Accounting Standards Board standards for cryptocurrency accounting will remove the “bad optics” that plagued digital asset holding companies, according to Berenberg Cash analysts.

On Sept. 6, the US Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) approved new cryptocurrency standards regarding how companies report the fair value of their holdings on their balance sheets.

In a follow-up note, Berenberg senior equity research analyst Mark Palmer argued that the changes would be particularly beneficial to companies like MicroStrategy, which will soon be able to report their digital asset holdings quarterly without having to make losses from deterioration.

“The change should help MicroStrategy and other companies that own digital assets to remove the bad optics that impairment losses have created with the rules the FASB has had in place,” Palmer wrote.

Since it began accumulating bitcoin in August 2020, MicroStrategy has racked up $2.23 billion in cumulative impairment losses.

Additionally, some of the quarterly reports the company has published over the past three years have included sizeable impairment losses on its BTC holdings that reflected downward movements in the asset’s price.

This led to negative media coverage of the company and its reporting, “giving the impression that the inherent value of the company had been negatively affected when it had not,” Palmer said.

Holders will Be Able to Declare their Holdings at their Fair Value

Under the new rules, which will take effect in 2025, companies holding cryptocurrencies will be able to declare their holdings at their fair value. Therefore, your quarterly reports will reflect current asset values, including any price spikes.

Currently, impairment losses must be included and cannot be adjusted even if the asset price recovers.

MicroStrategy is the world’s largest corporate bitcoin holder, holding 152,800 BTC as of July 31, currently valued at about $3.9 billion. The new rules can be applied in advance, and Berenberg believes that MicroStrategy will do so, valuing its BTC holdings at $8.8 billion in April 2024.

According to Berenberg’s note, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor once said that the main reason more companies have not adopted a BTC investment strategy is because of the FASB’s “hostile” and “punitive” treatment of companies. cryptocurrencies. He went on to state that the change is a positive result:

“A change in accounting treatment would be a significant positive catalyst for the bitcoin price, as it would spur adoption by tech companies.”

Purple Bitcoin Faced an Unexpected and Unusual Problem While the Slowdown in the Economy Weighs on the Future Orientation of Monetary Policy

The Bitcoin network was recently clogged with a backlog of over 560,000 unconfirmed transactions. Memory usage topped the 300MB mark, reaching a staggering 1GB. Even transaction fees skyrocketed, reaching over 20 sat/vB at one point. What is the story behind this sudden congestion? Let’s break it down.

The culprit appears to be a phenomenon known as “FOMO,” or fear of missing out on something, caused by sats minting. This minting frenzy caused a spike in transactions, causing the pink to slow down as it worked out the backlog. But before you hit the panic button, let’s put things in perspective.

First, it is essential to understand that the Bitcoin network is designed to handle fluctuations in transaction volume. While the current delay is unusual, it is not catastrophic. Purple’s underlying architecture is robust enough to handle the situation, and it’s only a matter of time before the lag is removed.

Second, high transaction fees are a temporary phenomenon. As purple gets over the backlog, the rates will normalize. So if you’re not in a rush to confirm your transaction, you may want to wait.

Now, let’s talk numbers. How has this event impacted the performance of the Bitcoin market? Interestingly, the price of Bitcoin has remained relatively stable. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at around $25,700 and there has been almost no movement in the past few hours. The market seems to have absorbed the news without much drama, indicating that investors are not overly concerned about the health of the network.

While the actual delay in transactions and increased fees may have drawn attention, it is not a red flag that the Bitcoin network is collapsing. The system is resilient and equipped to deal with these setbacks.

The Slowdown in the Economy

The surprise economic contraction experienced in the second quarter reflects the tightening of financial conditions in Canada as a result of the historically rapid acceleration of the benchmark interest rate. The second quarter revealed a slowdown in growth that, annualized as a percentage, represents an annual drop of 0.2%. However, the Bank of Canada (BoC) has warned that rates may need to be raised should inflationary pressures resurface. Headline inflation increased from 2.8% to 3.3% in August and the rise in oil prices presents new complications for the inflation outlook.

USD/CAD remains within the existing uptrend, but signs of potential fatigue have appeared at current levels. The extended upper candle revolving around the important 61.8% Fibonacci retracement (1.3650) suggests a rejection of higher prices. The RSI also reveals that the current uptrend risks overheating by entering overbought territory.

1.3855 is the long-term resistance level should the bulls outweigh the bears above 1.3650, but those in favor of the pair turning lower from here will keep an eye on the 1.3503 level and the average simple mobile of 200 points. US CPI next week will play a huge role in determining the pair’s short-term direction. The pair may get a breather if inflationary pressures in the US ease.

Bitcoin Stays Faraway from Chronological Levels Despite Its Volatility Growths

We have witnessed a peculiar year for cryptocurrencies this 2023. Until now, Bitcoin has risen 55%.  Nevertheless, it has been a slow and regular growth, instead of the typical free peaks and falls. Also, Bitcoin is not at the levels that we are familiar with, but it is not found in the historical minimums. Let us remember that Bitcoin fell from $ 29,000 to $ 26,000 just two weeks ago, including a 7% drop in a period of ten minutes. Last Thursday, 6% jumped, up to $ 27,700. Two days later, Bitcoin had given up those gains, trading at $ 25,900. The last two weeks’ price behavior is not intense according to Bitcoin standards but it denotes a closer idea of what we believe happened with this cryptocurrency.

The momentum gained last week was headed by a positive judicial ruling with respect to the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust. A panel of three judges of the Court of Appeals of the Columbia district in Washington ruled that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was wrong to reject the Bitcoin ETF proposed by Grayscale without explaining its reasoning.

Nevertheless, since then those achievements have been abandoned. The SEC said late Thursday in a series of presentations that more time was needed to consider the large number of ETF applications that have been submitted in recent months.

As we said, unbridled volatility has been one of the presentation letters of this asset since its launch fourteen years ago, and even this recent episode is relatively lower and seems to be driven by the ETF news. That is why the year 2023 has been unusual: it was the absence of volatility before recent weeks that surprised more than its recent and abrupt increase.

Previous Levels of Volatility Ought to Return

Nonetheless, once again, this episode of volatility is nothing from the other world according to Bitcoin standards. In addition, the study of the market structure suggests that we should not expect moderate activity for too long.

Liquidity is one of the foremost reasons for this situation. Order books are as small as they have been in quite a time in Bitcoin markets. This means that less cash is required to move prices, amplifying both up and down movements.

A look through space shows that, although prices have recovered this year, the volumes remain at a minimum of several years and the capital continues to leave space.

The volume of operations and volatility go hand in hand. It makes sense, consequently, that we have seen the latter fall as investors removed money, going back into the risk curve amid difficult macroeconomic conditions.

On the other hand, the liquidity situation, combined with the inherent nature of cryptographic markets (and the fact that volatility has never disappeared for a long time) means that it would not be a surprise to see that moderate markets rise again. In the last two weeks, we have seen a movement in this direction, but in the great scheme of things, it is nothing compared to what we have seen in the past, or what we can see again in the future.
